    I have and love all Morrisons Batman omnibus run and I fully agree after 3 or 4 re-reads they just get better and better.
    That goes with all great writers works though, especially Morrison. They're so dense.
    I also bought the final crisis Omni and I've only read it once but 90% of it went over my head...lol...but I knew that going in. Hundreds of characters I didn't know or care about. I'm sure a re-read will make for an easier ride.
    Love your work and I'm glad I found your channel mate ✌️
    All the best from England.

      I totally agree about rereads, sometimes you need the added perspective! I have the Final Crisis omni too but I haven’t read it yet, I’ll probably group that together with my other Crisis-related books when I read those, and I fully expect to be confused on my first read! 😄 From Canada to England, thanks for watching!

    Such a great run, I have this omni set and it’s a keeper. Need to read it again, along with Final Crisis which it ties into. Thanks for the review!

    8:29 this is why I love Grant Morrison's Batman. I have their entire run in trades rather than ombinuses, but what I love about their Batman is that he is an aspirational vigilante, one who is scarred by tragedy, yet he chooses to become something stronger, something better, which is Batman. I know I won't be like him in any shape , form, or mentality, but I do my very best to follow his example. Thank you, Grant Morrison, for reinforcing my connection to Batman, to let me see he is more than just a vengeful crusader.

      Well said! I love it when heroes inspire us to be better. That’s where some of my favourite Spidey moments come from too - when the odds are stacked against him but he manages to find a way to fight and push through it. Man, gotta love comic books! 😊

      Hey thanks, that’s kind of you to say! Truthfully, I don’t feel like I’m doing much differently from all the other comic book channels out there, but I do try to focus on being honest about how I feel about each book 🙂

    Also a fun note is that Zdarsky’s current Batman run heavily draws from Morrison’s as well, so you should check it out if you enjoy this era of Batman

      Thanks so much, that means a lot, I’m really glad you enjoyed!
      It’s tough to say, even as a huge Batman fan for most of my life, and having read a decent amount of Batman stories prior to this omni, some references still flew way over my head. It may help to read the Paul Dini omnibus since those stories were happening around this same time. Also, there is a collected edition called “Batman: The Black Casebook” which contains a bunch of those 50s and 60s stories that Grant Morrison references in here, so maybe that might help? Outside of that, generally familiarizing yourself with more of Batman’s “greatest hits” stories will help too, just to build up the character and world.
      At some point though, you just kind of have to accept that you won’t catch everything on your first read of this book, and that some things will require revisiting 😋 Hope this helps!

    Do i have to read the other issues before this to understand?

    • @SuperFlyComicsGuy
      @SuperFlyComicsGuy  4 месяца назад

      This is a pretty dense book, so it may be difficult to understand certain points if you are not very familiar with Batman. It’s the type of book that may require multiple reads in order to get the most out of it

    Just started reading this book today. Was doing a Batman reading order but decided to skip ahead because I was looking forward to trying morrisons run. Last read contagion, legacy, and then death and the maidens. Figured I could go back and read no man’s land at a later date lol and all those other stories I skipped.

    • @SuperFlyComicsGuy
      @SuperFlyComicsGuy  Год назад +1

      Yeah I think you’ll be fine to skip ahead. There aren’t really specific stories you need to read, you just need a decent familiarity with Batman. I hope you enjoy the series!

      I do own Final Crisis, but I haven’t read it yet. I actually read all 3 Morrison volumes before even buying Final Crisis, and I was able to follow along with the story pretty well, since Vol 1 has a couple of pages that summarize the important points you need
