I have about 30 bottles of niche fragrances but honestly none has blown me away like promise...and to think it is the cheapest of the desert gems, def the best of them in my opinion. You are spot on Matt, it is def a masterpiece 👏🏿...i always get positive reaction from people around me when i wear Promise!
this was my signature scent all winter, and i agree it can be used all year round too, it's one of my favourites ever and yes its a beast, lasts all day and into the next day! it's in the terroni and begamask territory, i have a 50ml too, which is plenty! i love it, in your words it is definatley a masterpiece!
Out of 3 I tried (promise, night and dawn) this was my favorite one. Very good description in your video. I get most fruit with little rose as well but on my wife it is the other way around. Cheers,
Hi, Matt. Now we're talking. A true powerhouse of French perfumery. Everything that Dominique Ropion does reeks of class and mastery. He couldn't make a bad fragrance even woken up at 3 AM and thrown in a lab. I just got a 10 ml official sample, which should last me for years, as I find this suited for very special occasions and , most of all, ENVIRONMENTS. I wouldn't wear this in a closed apartment space, office, car, etc. This is perfectly designed for indoor- outdoor parties, open patio restaurants, dinners at high end restaurants with ocean views, etc
This is the first fragrance that really blew me away. I've gotten a sample when i purchased some shampoo or something. Never heard of it, would've never tried it. I'm preparing myself mentally for the pricepoint. But I will be buying this! Great review.

If find Promise to be a stellar fragrance. I have another Dominique Ropion that smells identical that is Soul from Costume National its also a wonderful fragrance giving the same vibes as Promise and its performance is great too.
Got a sample and I agree it’s certainly an attention getting scent. I find it similar to Imaginary Authors Slow Explosion which I seldom wear so not really pining for a bottle of Promise. Not sure why, but I am biased towards the use of Cypriol/Nagarmotha as it seems to cheapen the scent somehow based on what I have tried so far.
It's absolutely stunning, a little goes a long way, performance is through the roof. I had to shower to get rid off it cos it was becoming unbearable at a moment. Great review Matt👍
I really wanted to like the Promise, but I found it to be too sickly sweet, borderline cheap smelling (what you call Lynx, what we call Axe), off my skin. My wife also really didn’t like it on me.
i had to give away my sample just cause i dont like this strong of a scent, its just too much for me. French Lover and En Passant are my favorite Frederic Malle scents tho

I agree I don’t like Cypriol oil. It’s horrible. Imho it ruins the fragrance
