Vietnamese mossy frogs (Theloderma corticale) are native to northern Vietnam and actually considered threatened in their wild range. They are a common pet and even found throughout the world in zoological collections… probably because of their impressive camouflage skills! But they have relatives who also are camouflauge experts… one that even looks like bird poo! Within the genus, Theloderma, there are 11 amphibians who range in colour and location, but all have great camouflage.

What an incredible species, and what that I’d never heard of! It‘s sad to hear that they’re threatened, although not surprising. I’m guessing the main threat is habitat loss?

Sean - great frog helpful hints. As I told Shelby above my Dad and I are frog lovers, we have Whites Tree Frogs, Red-eye Tree Frogs, Cuban Tree Frogs, Green Tree Frogs, Clown Tree Frog and not that long ago Grey Tree Frogs who unfortunately passed from old age. Again, great info.

What in the world was the mammal on your friends shoulder? I have a mossy frog in a community tank. I really like hearing his ghostly song.

Love the frog video, my Dad and I have several different types of frogs in our exotic pet collection. As Sean stated if you build a frog enclosure correctly, you may not see your pets a whole lot.

Thanks for watching, Cole! I think it is so true for pets, but even animals in zoos too! Some of my favourite exhibits have been those you need to actually stop and sit and actively use your eyes to find the inhabitant! Hope you're well! 💚
