I never take deep meaning from the music videos, but the way you guys explain it, it just makes it all so clear. A bit like "oh, so that's what it was all about' moment. You both really do know your stuff :D!
I loved seeing how GD actually showed emotion and you can really see how heart broken he was and he didnt just have a single tear roll down his face. He ran and he screamed and he went crazy in the club. You could literally see all the emotions he was trying to portray. He did an excellent job with that
Personal, I love the part where his laying on his stomach and he is banging his head on the couch, personally I feel like he is thinking something like 'what am I doing with my lifeeeeeee'
At first, I thought that the mv for crooked is just about GD running around London and having a mental-breakdown. After watching it a few more times I got the impression that he was really truly depicting his life in the video. I suppose he thinks of himself as a really awesome person (by the way I think he is) but he also had this scandals and I am sure that needed to process all that although its been long ago. In my opinion this is one of GDs most honest videos and I have to thank you for discussing this video :)
My favorite scene in the video is sort of more than one. It's the crying scenes. It shows real vulnerability and adds to the overall concept of the video, like Simon said- showing this guy who is pretending to be happy in the partying life style and acting all tough when in reality he's hating that life and isn't happy with it.
i can't believe you guys did not like coup detat :angry face: that video made my ironic appreciation of kpop into like 65% ironic. i mean the visuals the atmosphere of the song the symbolism its awesome!
I know that ironic appreciation you talk about :D and yes, pulling off a video like Coup de T'at is quite ballsy compared to the "standard" kpop videos, or just pop MVs in general. GD is one of the few Kpop idols I genuinely like and think of as an interesting person.
Coup De tat had amazing visuals, but the song is pretty lackluster. After Heartbreaker, G Dragon really hadn't been my radar, but Crooked really got my attention. Great song and lyrics, with a dynamic and touching video.
yeah i was disappointing with the lyrics and when i saw that he didn't have full credit for crooked. i dont rly think he's a good songwriter but i'm only going by translation. the video's good though.
Idk i love every parts of the mv gosh !!so hard to choose but i have to say the most interesting part to me is which he said down against the door i cried....first time ever seen GD like that so...kind of weird but i liked that part the most however dont want GD ever cried and miserable like that in his life:) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
... I think the running scenes is enough to explain the whole thing plus it added the "crooked" touch to the MV! BTW Thanks sooo much for doing this review I requested a looot!! Huge support from Lebanon 3
G.Dragon has come a long way with music, He is becoming more diverse with videos and lyrics now a days. Crooked's video for the song was perfect, it had a early adulthood life and showing how young people do party and hang out with other people is normal, but also dealing with heart break and lost of being a young adult. My favorite parts of Crooked was when you see him being emotional torn by, distressed by other people. Just his emotional stents was excellent. Good job G.D.
My favourite scene is probably the first clip we see of him crying, since that was when my jaw dropped and it completely changed my view of the video and understanding of GD being lonely.. Really amazing!
I love how much emotion is in G-Dragon's Crooked. Even if you don't speak the language you could understand the message. I love how the 'upbeat' music that takes place during the song contrasts the pain and breakdown that goes on during the video and how it's like saying that you just have to keep fighting through the pain to find a reason and a way to deal with it. And how it shows that not all ways of dealing with it make any
i really like this video-it's definitely for those rare moments of "a non k-music fan gives you a tiny chance to try and introduce them to some korean music"! apart from the very well done layering of scenes at the very end, i actually also really liked the running theme of the video! especially towards the end, when he breaks down while running but doesn't stop- it's a perfect metaphor for not dealing with something- but rather just not slowing down and pretending you can still keep on going.
I love everything about the video, but what stood out to me the most is that shows no matter how popular or powerful you think you are, or how nonchalant you act about life, you can still feel broken, or as the video puts it, crooked. We're only human after all. And by seeing GD go through something like that, it shows that he's not ashamed to admit it. Really loved how you could relate to it. Awesome job GD. :)
The video as a whole is great and has some good parts but this part really hits home for me. His actions for me it speaks for the whole video. His expression and body language and the mood of it. The fact that he was crying in the bathroom shows that there aren't many places where he can express his emotions and that he has to hide himself because everyone is always expecting something of him, putting pressure on him. Since no one really understands, he breaks down, feeling lonely and "crooked".
I have just recently gotten into KPOP, but G-Dragon is quickly becoming one of my favorites with songs like this. I like the silly rich kid shirt he wears (richies need love too: right Molly Ringwald) and when he was crying in the black shirt and running, that really stood out for me...Go team Martina&Simon!!!
I love everything about it! Especially the fashion choices, the fur coat with the demon face, the leopard printed sweater and especially the blue Vivienne Westwood outfi (the whole video reminded me of NANA)! Simply amazing [sorry if it's not deep and artsy!] Luv ya guise!
I really fall in love with this music video, it's awesome, it's flawless. From the scene of gd walking alone in the tunnel to the scene of crying, everything get along very well. It looks crazy n a little bit impolite (for me if I'm one of those guys in reality), but behind all the craziness, it's sorrow. The story plot from the beginning to climax n comes to the resolution, it really touched me a lot n deeply. I was almost cry when I saw the crying scene.it has fully bring out souls of MV.
I personally love the coloring of the video, like the color over lay. How it's like this old, vintage, grunge look. Especially during the scenes where you can definitely tell it's darker because the focus is on him.
My favorite part of the MV..hmmm.. I actually don't have a favorite part because I absolutely loved the whole thing! GD is just brilliant! I love how the lyrics of this song are so powerful and how he expressed them amazingly in this video! I also like that the symbolism in this MV is so much lighter and easier to understand than the one in COUP D'ETAT. Finally I want to say that I am in love with the emotion he shows in this video. One of the most brilliant artists ,I would say. Respect!
I'm so glad you guys chose this MV cuz i thought it was so beautiful and well-written. The emotion in it is so believable and almost brings GD down to earth for me. ALMOST. ....and you guys said something about JYJ HAD A NEW MV???
My favorite part was when he was denied from the club and started crying at the end it just proves how he's an average person even though he's famous. It shows that he has the same difficulties as a normal human being. I really loved the message of the song
My favorite scene from Crooked was when he was crying. It breaks my heart to see him cry, but it also depicts how he's real. Everyone is like a piece of cloth. Like, embroidery. There is a beautiful design on the outside, but underneath, is something different. Something much more meaningful. G-Dragon is like a piece of clothing. It's beautiful on the outside, but under that beautiful mask, is sadness. Watching him cry like that, really hit me hard. That's why my favorite scene was when he cried
I love all of the running/walking scenes because all of his different outfits are so unique and fashionable! I think those are my favorite because it's like he is running away from something, but we don't know what.
i like how this video portrays a kpop idol in a different light. A person falling into misery and doesnt know what hes doing in life. GD is such a great actor and makes the viewer feel the emotion
I love the transitions and the constant feeling of anger and unhappiness from shot to shot and how no shots are the shota in eceryone he does something different
My favorite part was when he was crying/sad in the bathroom stall cuz he looked so cute!! And it shows that even though he is a badass he still as a soft spot. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!! Been watching you guys since when you made podcasts on itunes. I miss them because when i go to places without internet i would rewatch them when i'm bored. But you guys don't have them anymore :(
I really liked all of the music video, G-Dragon always has unique music videos which always mean a certain thing to life and he always shows a different style that not a lot of artists have in their videos. I vote for G-Dragon crooked
My favorite part of the mv was when he broke down. It really showed his fragility and vulnerability since idols always seem to be indestructible forces of nature, and it's nice for a change.
The scenes inside the club. That's where he portrays himself as not giving a care about the world, everything's ok, nothing can bother him in there dancing with the crowd and the music, getting messed up, and trying to forget the sadness. My favorite part is when he falls on the floor at the end. Its like he finally gave up and decided to accept the pain. He was trying to run away the whole time. The past will always be there, it's best to accept it, let go, and look towards the future.
I like the whole music video, I find if I fixate my likes on one point I ignore the other parts of the video. It really is an awesome music video tying together the fact that he can feel lonely in public places, that he too is still an average person, who also enjoys causing trouble but does it to feel less lonely. The style of clothing he wears gives us a view of what his rebelling side looks like, while his constant running shows us he's constantly running to a place he forever longs for.
I like the scenes where he's shown to be more than just a pop star, that he's still human and not some magical unicorn that has everything perfect in his life. And he makes a great story and video entirely out of it with a pretty good message in the end.
I liked the crying scenes the most because I really felt his emotion and the pain he was going through because he was pretending and running from his problems, which made me feel like I was going to cry.
my favorite part in the video is when gd was walking/running in the streets it expressed the frustrstions that he was feeling really well. i loved gd from the his debut he is amazing ♥
the part when he was crying. you see him partying with all those celebrities in real life and in the mv. and then you suddenly see him break down and cry. even though it was just acting, i think that's what he really feels, and that scene broke this fangirl's heart
It's a toss up between any scene where he's in the streets (aesthetic value) or when he crying. I really like the song and it's easy to relate to the feeling of unhappiness he's dealing with in the video. I can't tell you how many times I've felt this way too, where you're running around causing chaos, breaking down and feeling empty. I really liked this video. It captured those feelings greatly. It also reminded me somewhat of a Skins.
My favourite part was when he was running because even if no one was chasing him, it felt like he was genuinely running away from something in his past that he was still trying to escape from. His facial expressions were great.
I really love this MV because of all the different connections people make to it. Some people see it as him running away from his problems, he's wearing a facade, he's not being recognized like he wants to be, he's being pushed to become someone he's not and he's retaliating against that (more Coup D'Etat than Crooked, but yeah that too). I really can't choose a favourite part because all of it relates to me, and I love that it relates to pretty much everyone, not just his fans.
my favorite scene from crooked is when gd is crying in the bathroom. the best part of it was that even when he was crying, he was trying to smile, and it made my heart ache just watching. creating that kind of feeling in watchers is pretty rare for k-pop videos, so it really struck home with me.
Part 1:This entire video is like an art piece in motion, the scene where he's playing with th instruments of some strangers in the street stands out for me. It looked like epic fun but it relayed some very humane emotions to me as a viewer, you know just wanting to do what you want whenever. It brought G-D down from his deity-like image and put him in a realm that didn't seem so distant from me as one of his fans.
I personally love the entire video, mainly for how it is so chaotic yet has so much symbolism (like almost ALL YG videos) and it seems very non put together, yet it's a really really well put together video. If I had to pick a part, I would say probably his break down scenes because we never ever see him so torn apart and that raw side of him. He's always so cool and above everyone, yet in this video, he seems to be actually worse off than the rest of us.
I love the bits were he's in the really cool places, like that old fashioned room with the rocking horse, and the tunnel. I like the fact he does change clothes but not as many times as the usual K-pop video.
He seems that he's got friends when having fun, but when he feels sad, he's all alone. He's doubting if those friends really like him or only for his money. He's also lonely, as there are no girls around him for the whole video.Love the part, sitting in the compound alone, mourning his lost childhood. He feels that nobody wants him, and he's acting indifferent when he's not ok at all. He longs for attention, and he gets it through being bad..when he passed out at the end, no one noticed at all..
my favorite part of the video is when he gets back to his apartment and just reflects and thinks about what he had done through the night. It's like he's trying his best to forget her, but going out like that and having that "fun" just brings her back. I also like when he just forces himself to try and forget by partying and drinking. It was like... he was going insane through the video. so good.
I liked the scene right after the first chorus where he sprayed his hair and cut to a scene where he wore eyeliner, got out of a car and wore a leather jacket and then a few moments later he's spitting at the sky. The reason I like this scene so much is because it not only matches the lyrics exactly but also because it shows his 'idgaf' attitude while he's putting up a front infront of the world, not letting anything he feels inside show and it just leaves an impression in my mind!
The toilet scene was my favourite one because that was a rare moment where u could see him in a raw state. The whole video reminded me of a classmate that i had who was rich but also sad. His actions were the same and there were this kind of cracks showing when his sad parts shown through those moments were he lets down his guard are precious even though they are sad and that's what i saw during that scene. It's like a loud scream that has finally gone outwards instead of being silent.
That crying scene was so strong i got teary myself. I've been through heartbreak myself and cried myself to sleep. He might be acting though and strong, but he's just a human and there is time when you can cry yourself out. And besides i love GD so freaking much, and i LOOOOVED the clothing style he wore in the video. (And GD for the most powerful crybaby movie :D)
my favorite part is the crying scene when he craks up n shows his true emotions, he shows like as if he had to go through different things that he didnt like just to b like others instead of being himself, it shows how much it hurts to try to please other in how u really are , how u can feel on the inside i felt kinda related or like equal to him in the video because of this scene... its really touching
It is hard to actually choose a specific scene, but I like how throughout the video he actually interacts with the people around him, despite being in another country. He doesn't seem so separate from the others when they are running together and when they are all dancing in the club, they are all interacting more than other kpop idols usually do with their surrounding backups. It is a nice change.
I love it all. It all hits to the heart, showing what a badass you can be, but then regretting everything you ever did. Trying to be so cool, but when inside, you are dying. GD did it again. Awesome as always. [I want that album so bad //cry]
my favourite part is when he dances in the club. He tries to be happy although on the inside it hurts so much. I have experiences like that too. We all try to look cool so that people can accept us but when we are alone we just let it all out. No matter what happens, every one of us still has to stay strong and move on~ GD & EYK Fighting~!
My favourite scene is when he's emotionally breaking down, when he's screaming and crying, it just really speaks to me and says that money and fame really can't make you happy. You could have every thing in the world and you're life still wouldn't be satisfying. You could have so many friends, but they wouldn't compare to your really close friends that you know really care about you. GD finds a way to speak through his music videos. He uses all the right expressions and actions.
Haai :) My favourite scene is the crying in the bathroom part, where he breaks down completly and shows his weak and human side. It feels like he keeps everything deep down, show the others that he is alright and strong but in reality he was suffuring, he reminds me of myself in that part.
My favorite part of the music video is when he stares at the camera while the lyrics match his actions. He points at the camera while saying "Nothing lasts forever". He's telling the audience all his efforts in the end are put to waste because no one is there to help him. He's acting strong but G-Dragon is in so much pain that he breaks down. "I'm gonna try running from my problems" Ultimately, He's saying that it's too hard to get rid of your problems in this world.
My favourite scene (or rather scenes) were the ones where he was at the club. Seeing the deterioration of his composure until he falls to the ground was a little sad, and actually made me feel sympathetic towards him (or rather the character he was portraying). Great song and I loved this vid guise.
I gotta say my favourite part was the whole thing, i know it isn't a specific part. But the whole video gives us a message, its not only for entertainment but its like GD is speaking directly to us. He made the music and video through experience and his past life. Everything that has inspired is packed into a just a few second video. He probably wants us to watch the video carefully, and know how he feels inside. Maybe he has so much on his mind, he's going through these emotions.
HAHAHA i can't breathe "oh my god i killed a child" yeah....the great GD is not the bulkiest manly man ever
3:53 I CAN'T STOP LAUGH!! XDDD HAHAHAHA XDD GD's running yeah, GD's running yeah, GD's running around..(8) xDD
He did an excellent job with that
I MISS K pop music mondays so much
"oh my god he's touching me!.... does this mean where married" .... that would be me
I seriously cannot get over the GD's running song xD
Personal, I love the part where his laying on his stomach and he is banging his head on the couch, personally I feel like he is thinking something like 'what am I doing with my lifeeeeeee'

This is my favorite Music Monday video! xD
Dayum... I miss those videos sooo much!
"OMG I KILLED A CHILD!" XD
OMFG the child thing... I just died XD
"Bitch I'm fabulous, AYOOOOOOOOOOO"
Such a funny review. the "runs" song had me rolling. And Fangurilla is hilarious because you know exactly the super psychos would act that way.
i can't believe you guys did not like coup detat :angry face: that video made my ironic appreciation of kpop into like 65% ironic. i mean the visuals the atmosphere of the song the symbolism its awesome!

you should check out nell the day before and BEG cleansing cream too

''if you wanna win, here's what you gotta do...''
me - ''go back in time''
Oh God! Please come back kpop music mondays.
I wanna know what GD-oppa thinks about your "GD's got run" song. XD
I LOVE FANGURILLA
Annnnd year after and Here I am AGAIN listening to the GD country song ahhah
I really think that punk style really looks good on GD
I came back for the "GD's got them runs" song
🎶 Oh ohh ohhhhhhh.... 🏃
I liked when he was crying cause u know u dont rlly see a guy cry
the gd running man song was probably the best song you've made so far, even better than martina's agyeozilla rap! best kmm ever xD
Omg the tacohell runs poor gd we've all been there! RUNNNN!
I miss music Mondays.
Idk i love every parts of the mv gosh !!so hard to choose but i have to say the most interesting part to me is which he said down against the door i cried....first time ever seen GD like that so...kind of weird but i liked that part the most however dont want GD ever cried and miserable like that in his life:) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Does anyone else think that Soo zee looks like Kevin from ukiss in the blond wig?
... I think the running scenes is enough to explain the whole thing plus it added the "crooked" touch to the MV! BTW Thanks sooo much for doing this review I requested a looot!! Huge support from Lebanon 3
I loved it when GD was just standing there in the middle of the street. It was like he was staring into my soul. Then my ovaries exploded.
i like the part that gd was dancing in the club, but actually he was kinda lost and couldn't get what he want
the running song kils me
G.Dragon has come a long way with music, He is becoming more diverse with videos and lyrics now a days. I would watch a 45 minute explanation of Coup D'Etat ;)
also the GD's Running song is almost better than any of GD's songs. :D
AAAAAAAYYYYYYOOOOOO

Martina your hair looks gorgeous! It usually does, but your hair was spot on in this video.
I love the part where he is just sittin down against the wall and the music gets all quite until the chorus comes and blows my mind
After I listened to Crooked again, I just had to watch this again :) Love you guys!!!!
I really fall in love with this music video, it's awesome, it's flawless. From the scene of gd walking alone in the tunnel to the scene of crying, everything get along very well. I liked the crying scenes the most because I really felt his emotion and the pain he was going through because he was pretending and running from his problems, which made me feel like I was going to cry.

When gd is on his little horse, i totally LOVE that part.
I want the 'GD Cd' aaaw that was funny:')
OMG OMG OMG!! I JUZ LOVE IT WHEN GD WAS STARING AT THE CAMERA AT THE START OF THE MV!! HE LOOKS SOOOOOOO FREAKING HANDSOME!!!!!
Martina, your hair is perfect here!!!
I like the scene where he is running and starts screaming and then to cries... their expressions were like genuine feelings, from mad to sad.
BRING THIS SHOW BACK EVEN JUST ONCE A MONTH
It was like... he was going insane through the video.
so good.
I've been waiting so long for this!!
The crying scene, because it showed that he's vulnerable and human. He's a person and has real faults and emotions.
I suddenly remembered this video, I was so sure it was "around last year" but daaaaaamn, 5 years ago?
Time flies
