I make a point of never discussing Thai politics while in Thailand . I was at a large family/community social event in northern Thailand, when out of the blue , someone asked me in broken English my views on a certain corpulent former general turned politician, with a well documented love of flashy jewellery and fine timepieces. Everyone within earshot leaned forward to catch my response. The question caught me off guard and I burst out in uncontrolled laughter , spitting my drink . This was evidently the correct response, as much back slapping occurred followed by many thumbs up . I didn't have to fetch my own drink for the rest of the night . Luckily they didn't ask my opinion on their own favourite politician from the north.
Superior commentary. Thank you, for covering some key points that are never covered by other utubers. So glad you did not show a much of glossy hotels, street vendors and over-used beaches. Plus your fine observations were clear and coherent. Keep up the excellent work. Regards, Ted.
Wow, thank you so much! I have my beliefs but I usually keep it to myself because what you believe is your business and what I believe is mine. I'm a homebody and just want to work in a condo near a beach😅 the only annoying thing is the holidays but that's something I need to stay updated on anyway when I get there. Still, thanks for sharing helpful info☺️
Great points, Tony. I would add to go slow on selecting accomodations and a lease. Also, my Wise card was compromised in short order. Wise resolved it. I reserve it now for hospital use only or bank WDs.
One correction on dual pricing: if you don't look Thai but actually *are Thai*, they will give you the Thai price. My wife is ethnically Indian and therefore doesn't look Thai, but she is in fact Thai and has never had a problem with dual pricing. It's easy enough for her to show her ID, but usually they know simply by speaking with her that she is a Thai native.
Concerning cash withdrawal I always use the Charles Schwab debit card because not only do they not charge you they pay you back 100% of any charges you encounter and I've used it in a dozen countries. And some countries like where I am now Georgia you can take out US dollars.
if using bolt be careful of scammers. i had one tell me when he got there he only took cash. i told him no thank you and called another after i canceled. but other wise i loved bolt, cheaper than uber back in the states.
Hello. How are you? I wanted to ask a question about the burning season. Is it always in the same months? Is there any chance it won't be in April next year? Thank you very much
It tends to always be in the same months, yes. So normally April…at least the first half…is pretty bad, and really hot, too. We live in Chiang Mai which is up north.
Regarding transportation in Chain Mai, does anybody know if there is a main street that has the mini buses (song tau, like Hua Hin has) that can be good for getting to another side of the town for a cheap price?
Love your video bcuz EAST to listen, understand, and follow your thoughts. If there is ONE thing to think about a permanent move what would You tell me? The loneliness is the easiest thing. Have plenty of cash. Looking into WISE. THANKS
Thanks much for the info - as always. Do you happen to have a US address for banking purposes and other necessities that show residence in the US? I've seen people's video on using South Dakota as a residence, etc.
Tony, I wear sunglasses, so they don't know im not Thai. 😂 The toughest thing for me living here was adjusting to my diet it took a month to get a regular BM . My biggest issue is my 2nd amendment rights. There is no go here, and you can't even own a dam axe to hike camp and chop wood. There are things out there in the woods you never know. We have police check points as well, so you need to have a DL license, or you're busted. Do you have loud speakers on telephone poles? The National Anthem plays at 8:00am and 6:00 pm . Tony, as always, you and Kendell are awesome !! Tx
I've been planning on retiring in Thailand for awhile now because how US economy and living conditions are going due to joe kamala failed the country but if Trump flip this country back making it Great Again I might not need to move there. Well, maybe to visit.

I'm strongly considering Thailand to move to - to get away from US politics and politics altogether. Just some peace, quiet, and culture.

HI, I 've just wonder why U choose Chiang Mai over Bangkok?
Too big of a city for me
Can you give some examples of “dual pricing”?

WISE works for Australians also.
I agree with every word you said.
Wise works fine for swedes as well :)
what country do you escape to in the bad months
We normally go back to the United States during that time.
One year we went to southern Thailand.
Regarding transportation in Chain Mai, does anybody know if there is a main street that has the mini buses (song tau, like Hua Hin has) that can be good for getting to another side of the town for a cheap price?
Go on my RUclips page under videos and do a search for transportation. I did a whole video on that subject.
Wise works good for Canadians

We use IPostal1 for our US address and it has worked out well for us. 😊
Sorry if I missed something or the reference but what does “Narrow Gate” mean please?
Biblical reference. Matthew 7:13-14

Well I guess as Thailand is so safe that’s not a huge issue compared to if you were back in the US,when in Rome etc🤷♂️
@mubbles1066 obviously
