This is exactly what vietnamese "quẩy" looks like, we eat it with our traditional soups such as Phở soup, or rice porridge, or even deep it inside sweet & sour fish sauce and eat with salad. The sweet version (milk added) is usually eaten with yogourt. So yummy! Thanks for sharing this!

When I was stationed at Udon RTAFB in 1972-73, I had this bread and strong sweet coffee so many times for breakfast. Love it!

Try turning the heat up a little bit and also tap gently on the dough a few times to make it go under the oil for a bit.
