For an arcade title that's 20+ years old, its still an appealing game to play and the graphics/music still look amazing. Thank Yu Suzuki who was the mastermind behind this!
Yeah. Vf2 is likely the fastest of all the vf games. It feels almost like its sped up in post processing not during actual input. The same kind of “living on the edge of being unplayable” speed you get from hyper fighting.
When playing as Wolf, if you manage to get behind opponent's back and press grab, Wolf will perform German Suplex, popular wrestling move. If you come to opponent from front and press grab, he will perform Vertical Suplex, also popular wrestling move.
Was obsessed with this back when I was 13 in the arcades along with MK3, Killer Instinct and Power Instinct (two separate games) when they was out. Memories
Fun game when I was twelve! Pai is beautiful and her music is awesome. Love the crickets chirping in Kage's background theme! Jacky is evidently a Super Saiyan.
I'll never forget Sega Saturn Mag's review, something like "Virtua Fighter 2 does an uncanny impression of the Model 2 arcade board upon which it is based..."
Kage was such a versatile character. He could utilize signature attacks from like 3 or 4 different characters, as well as incorporate his own throws and special attacks. Easily my favorite.
My local laundromat has a VF2 cabinet if I am in the area I stop by some times for some games. I grew up a tekken kid so ofc I didn't get into this til the laundromat had installed that cabinet a couple of years ago. Got me into it. I need to buy 5!
One-Liners, great music, and awesome gameplay & visuals = Virtua Fighter 2 This series DESERVES much more respect than it gets (Yes I'm talking to you, Tekken Fanboys)!
NEON 7 There's was no devils and the stages were just normal areas. Tekken 5 is my favourite though. Also the controls in Tekken 4 were very similar to Dead or Alive actually.
There is a sure tactic against Dural. If you manage to hit her couple of times right away and knock her down, just run backwards to the other end of the field and crouch and put block on. She will jump up and down and do some moves, but won't be coming for you. Once the timer runs out, you will be declared a winner.
It definitely was, and i say that as someone who liked EC as a kid. VF is just a much better game. EC had some interesting characters and a nice lore but it wasn't even close to VF gameplay wise. Tho i still think it was idiotic of Sega of Japan to axe EC and have the sole focus be on VF, BOTH series could have thrived at the same time, they were very different games that wouldn't have had a lot of audience overlap. Capcom, SNK, Namco, etc had multiple fighting game series going at the same time in the 90's, no reason Sega couldn't have. I honestly think SOJ dismissed Eternal Champions simply because it wasn't made by them. The disliked it simply because Sega of America made it.
VF4 and VF5 really refined the fighting engine to perfection. Pai, Lau, Aoi, and Sarah are my favourite characters. I'm lethal with the beautiful Pai. Its amazing how the character models have evolved from simple polys into lifelike, beautifully textured characters.
There is trick to defeating Dural easy, even though I am sure nobody will think it is fair. If you manage to strike her first and she falls to the ground, run back to the opposite side of ring to her and kneel and put block on. She won't attack you. Will just be standing there and kicking nothing.
I use to play this in the arcade as wolf or the old man, there would be a line of people waiting as I could usually go on pretty long runs...I would always try to do wolfs move where he grabs the opponent by the ankles and spins around and throws them out of the ring, it was difficult to pull off
This game is obviously mostly based on pro wrestling, as nearly every character uses at least one pro wrestling move, not counting Wolf of course. For example, Jeffrey does both Sitdown Powerbomb and Samoan Drop.
Wolf was always a cool guy to use i forget the other characters since im not watching the video now im typing...But drunken master was really a "master" mind of this game since he was so darn silly
For a early 3D fighter, this game was good…until you get to Lion that is. Afterwards, it was nothing more than a downward spiral of pain and misery. This whole game took me three grueling hours to beat. Once I finally got to Dural, I just didn’t care. I was done at that point and let the computer beat me. This will hopefully teach my dumbass next time that Virtua Fighter and Tekken don’t play the same.
***** You are right, however VF2 still is 60 fps on Arcade and Saturn. As for Tekken 2 i already said i don't know, i guess the Arcade version is 60 FPS while the PS1 is 30 or something.
Am I the only seeing the video edits in between matches, look at the timer too. It was pretty obvious, since I used to continues a lot training myself. You should redo this at 6ofps, and without continues. You get the "special" ending.
It's almost like they did it on purpose, so each character had something to dangle on them. Look at Shun's beard dammit! As for the game...well, I was never a VF fan, since I'm more into 2D fighting games. Still, this one feels more solid than the VF1 game, yet looks like it has controls exactly like the first.
OK, I heard the Continue music, but at least you had a pair and left the health on instead of making yours infinite, so you gt a like. :) Also, I main Kage since he's not too heavily reliant on throws (Jeffery, and sorta Wolf, but not NEARLY as bad) and not too reliant on cheap combos (Lion, Pai, and later on Aoi and Lei)
For an arcade title that's 20+ years old, its still an appealing game to play and the graphics/music still look amazing.
Thank Yu Suzuki who was the mastermind behind this!
+Charlie Cat i own a gtx 780 and i play vf2 some days,this is the majesty of vf2
Well hello Anthony! I wasn't expecting to find you while researching Virtua Fighter :D
games now dont have this vibe anymore this game is the embodiment of the ambition of the mid 90s when people were still optimistic
you had to be alive in 1994 to realise how staggering this game was to look at at the time
even if it was released in 1998 this is amazing.
That's the year I was born, but I was just as amazed playing it on PC in 2001
I was 13 and it blew my mind! Used to play it in the old arcade when I was about 16, loved it
True Words
To this day, no game has made my jaw drop like Daytona USA
2:59 I cannot express how utterly incredible it was to see that giant bridge passing overhead in 1995.
Have a look at ma page as well if like great VF4 content. Would appreciate a follow.
Playing Yakuza 5, I enter Club Sega. "Play Virtua Fighter 2.1 on easy?".
Ten minutes later, all I can say is: Easy mode is not easy.
45 mins later, still not beaten.
I know this is a hard game, I got stuck on it for 3 hours straight.
*Update*
Finally beat it, needless to say I won’t be playing it for a long time.
@@optimusN64 it really be like that, the genesis version is also a challenge
Come back again...IN ABOUT A YEAR

The same kind of “living on the edge of being unplayable” speed you get from hyper fighting.
Sega was the KING of arcades back in the 90s.
real
and Capcom as well too though, especially for fighting games and beat em ups
If Sonic was humanized, he'd be Jacky Bryant 😮
When playing as Wolf, if you manage to get behind opponent's back and press grab, Wolf will perform German Suplex, popular wrestling move. If you come to opponent from front and press grab, he will perform Vertical Suplex, also popular wrestling move.
wolf best win quotes "come back again in a few of years"
That reverse leg throw for the RING OUT at 11:36 was perfect
This game had some sweet musics!
12:35
this game changed my life in 1994- as a sega kid I absolutely needed this in my house to wow my friends in 1995
Was obsessed with this back when I was 13 in the arcades along with MK3, Killer Instinct and Power Instinct (two separate games) when they was out. Memories

Yeah for Jacky lol :)
thank you for these memories ... Child times, sweet times Sega Saturn
My....time has flown by. Playing this in the arcade back in the day was fun as shit.
holy shit. I was 5 years old when I played this. All of a sudden I feel so nostalgic.
same
This is one of my favourite virtua fighter games. I remember playing in an arcade in Romford then being amazed when I played it on saturn.
This is why the Sega Saturn is the best console in the 5th gen.
🙃
I'll never forget Sega Saturn Mag's review, something like "Virtua Fighter 2 does an uncanny impression of the Model 2 arcade board upon which it is based..."
The Jeffry McWild stage theme sounds like the 1986-2009 Procter & Gamble Productions jingle.
It’s amazing how state of the art this was considered in 1995, now you can play it as a bonus feature in Yakuza games.
Kage was such a versatile character. He could utilize signature attacks from like 3 or 4 different characters, as well as incorporate his own throws and special attacks. Easily my favorite.
2:40 - 2:50 I love this comeback right here, in the 2nd round against Sarah. 💙
TheLegendofRenegade sent me here.

I miss my Sega Saturn
Come back again *IN ABOUT A YEAR!*
Sega after announcing new VF project with no concrete details:
I'm here, it's been 2 years
I never even played this game... and it still embodies old school gaming for me.
***** It has flaws, but other than that, highly recommend it!
One-Liners, great music, and awesome gameplay & visuals = Virtua Fighter 2
This series DESERVES much more respect than it gets (Yes I'm talking to you, Tekken Fanboys)!
NEON 7 I like both though...
Demon Rantz
Well...Personally, I'd much rather stick with Virtua Fighter as Tekken is *purely* a guilty pleasure for me.
NEON 7 I'll always prefer Tekken but I like Virtua Fighter's realistic style. Tekken 4 actually tried it out like that.
Demon Rantz
That explains why I *actually* like Tekken 4 (for some reason).
NEON 7 There's was no devils and the stages were just normal areas. Tekken 5 is my favourite though. Also the controls in Tekken 4 were very similar to Dead or Alive actually.
My favorite in the series
I love this game!
STILL A GOOD SEGA GAME!!!
I think you're right.
There is a sure tactic against Dural. If you manage to hit her couple of times right away and knock her down, just run backwards to the other end of the field and crouch and put block on. She will jump up and down and do some moves, but won't be coming for you. Once the timer runs out, you will be declared a winner.
my favorite move of wolf is the "Screwdriver" (forward, down, forward, down, A+B), piledriver moves are really badass
We did lose Eternal Champions for this. Was it worth it?
Maybe.
It definitely was, and i say that as someone who liked EC as a kid. VF is just a much better game. EC had some interesting characters and a nice lore but it wasn't even close to VF gameplay wise. omggg... this is sweet childhood memory, been playing this game all day with my brother when i was 5:)
Still love this game as a kid and still now of today.
Have a look at ma page as well if like great VF4 content. Would appreciate a follow.

Come back again, in about a year!!
2017 and the intro is amazing today
Wonderful graphic & sound for this time _ Wolf is my favorite character! I love Wrestling & Native American _

FINISH HIM!!!!!!!!!!! o w8 wrong game again
Jacky's stage bgm is the best!

remove "One of" and make "the" with a capital "t", and games without "s": The best fighting game ever made.
How come Pai speaks Japanese when she's supposed to be from Hong Kong?
I dunno. AM2 should've made Pai speak in English instead.
Cause she's bilingual
Played this alot growing up. It was inside a local pizza hut. Back then every store had at least one machine
Have a look at ma page as well if like great VF4 content. Would appreciate a follow
Yo, as a fact, I am 30/2 , and this was my childhood, I used to play it on my phone
To this day Pai is still the most frustrating fighter in any fighting game ever made.
mi infancia :(
Hola
i never knew how to make this legs catch and throw movement for wolf
Memories of my Sega Saturn...
the king of fighters XIV is looking great!
KAY HO!
I use to play this in the arcade as wolf or the old man, there would be a line of people waiting as I could usually go on pretty long runs...I would always try to do wolfs move where he grabs the opponent by the ankles and spins around and throws them out of the ring, it was difficult to pull off
Game of my childhood. Pai Chan was my main character. 🥋
I played Virtua Fighter 2 for the first time back in 1997 at Cambrian College.
Genesis version still rocks to me.
Bon jeu de combat 3D
SEGA BEST ARCADE
maybe pai chan is a true cousin of chun li
Don't mix a mediocre game with a great one
Awesome throw @8:21
This game is obviously mostly based on pro wrestling, as nearly every character uses at least one pro wrestling move, not counting Wolf of course. For example, Jeffrey does both Sitdown Powerbomb and Samoan Drop.
Only 3 characters or maybe more do that
This is still my favorite
Who had trouble with Jacky Wolf and Akira
I had trouble with everyone after shun di
Wolf does Vertical Suplex when he grabs opponent from in front. However, if you manage to grab opponent from behind he will do German Suplex.
When i first reached the Bonus stage i sat my pants when i was a kid
Wolf was always a cool guy to use i forget the other characters since im not watching the video now im typing...But drunken master was really a "master" mind of this game since he was so darn silly
You play as a Canadian fighter Wolf.
Where did you find a working ROM and a suitable emulator? I don't seem to find either anywhere.
There was a legit American pro wrestler in Japan who went under the name Wolf Hawkfield for a period of time.
I could never beat that guy in the water. He was a pain in te ass.
That's a woman
Dural = cyborgized Kage-Maru's mother 🤖👩👦
Who didn't have trouble with Pai and could defeat Lion?
People who exploit ai

wow the frame rate here looks a lot better than in tekken 2
Well this game is 60 FPS, even the Saturn version is 60 FPS. Not sure about Tekken 2.
considering i got it on the ps3 (not sure if that matters), this looked so much smoother
chainz983
It must be the PS1 version of Tekken 2, the arcade is 60 fps i think.
Marcel Weber
But the RUclips video isn't 60fps.
***** You are right, however VF2 still is 60 fps on Arcade and Saturn.
As for Tekken 2 i already said i don't know, i guess the Arcade version is 60 FPS while the PS1 is 30 or something.
Nostalgia pura foi meu primeiro jogo
This game brings memories but cant see any real moves seems to be fighting everyone on super easy
kage maru...lol shadow man!
I felt good as a kid when I finally beat Jeffery.
You mean you could defeat Lion when you were a kid?
Kage was always my guy
Have a look at my page as well if like great VF4 content. Would appreciate a follow
Wow this graphic 4 this time *_*
Have a look at my page as well if like great VF4 content. Would appreciate a follow.
me and my friend used to call Shun Di dodgy grandad.
Que gran juego de peleas aunque nunca jamás jugué es muy bueno
😎😎😎
In the xbox this game kicked my ass i could pass the fifth stage
8:23 Close call!
Does the Sega Saturn version of Virtua Fighter 2 have a training mode in it?
Nope but can add more rounds and time in VS mode which can be useful to practice combos you can also change the size of the stages.
Are the mockery one liners after fights different from the Saturn version? I have the Saturn version and I have never heard some of these lines.
OMg !
I Miss you Virtua :'(
2004... :(

+swollenmadman16 No, you are not. Also, the "special" ending is only in the SEGA Saturn version of the game. This is the Arcade version.
+NEON 7 I did put in 'secret' as the only difference is that the replay at the credits will show Dural as well getting pummeled.
Kaldırıp fırlatma hamlesini nasıl yapıyorsunuz???
Everyone has a throw that's held with punch and guard
Look up the move list
I can't believe I found it
Bu oyunu nasıl bilgisayara indiririz???
Must buy a emulator for PC probably or Xbox live
It should have stereo sound.
Where did you get a working ROM and the suitable emulator?
Sega Genesis emulator available for download
I have a hard time on pai she's too fast iam kind of shock that you defeated her well your a gamer so obviously your going to win.
i dont know how but i managed getting this game for ps2 5years ago
It's almost like they did it on purpose, so each character had something to dangle on them. Look at Shun's beard dammit!
As for the game...well, I was never a VF fan, since I'm more into 2D fighting games. Still, this one feels more solid than the VF1 game, yet looks like it has controls exactly like the first.

best fighting game

Que buen juego, me hace acordar cuando lo jugaba a la pc cuando era pendejo
I think akira is a rival of m bison from sf because he is the final round fight
As am I!
