If you're Asian and you're not a XS or S, you're considered plus size, sadly. I'm a size large and I'm constantly being called "fat" at family gatherings. Anyone else have this problem?
You are never alone. In family gatherings or even parents' friends they just start pinching my arms because I'm like a size large... Not sexual harassment but annoying and disturbing. Same case every time and I hate it but being asian, ITS MEANT TO BE. I've been called fat or 'sumo' for my entire life but I got used to it and learn to love myself.
same with me. if i'm in europe country i don't think that i'm really fat. asian country is really obsessed with the size and white skin haha. don't get me wrong because i'm asian and i'm proud of it hahaha

I could make a petite size labeled plus size if I wanted to. All that matters if the close fit and you feel good in them. The size label doesn't matter at all
Plus size is plus size and Petite size is petite size. Petite & Plussize is Plussize Petite. That's just the way it works. And it's not negative at all imho. But I definitely do agree that no matter what size someone is as long as the clothes are flattering and pretty, they should be confident in whatever they wear and not give a shit about what other people think. That's the main problem, not enough self confidence and thinks too much about other people's opinions. Everyone should be confident and feel pretty and fabulous in their own skin.

Westerners may not understand though. Asians are typically small in stature and their clothing sizes are pretty small over there as well, so it's probably a little bit harder to shop for bigger sizes there. Why do people consider "Plus Size" as such a terrible thing? We all know that it's a fashion term, and every normal human knows that you should only "judge" a person's weight by its effect on their health i.e. if your weight affects your wellbeing ( not only mental, also physical ), you're making a mistake, whether it's too much or too little weight. Besides, you might not know but Asians often face a lot more health issues being "overweight", than, for example, Westerners, which is why there are areas with laws against being overweight. Different regions, different countries, cultures, have different standards and especially different gene pools. Weight is also usually seen in comparison, and if the majority of people in Asia is rather petite, of course you're seen as "plus size", even if you're a size 6 or whatever in America. What I hate, though, is that nowadays, especially with people in Western countries, who are getting bigger and bigger, lables "size down" their clothing, so people feel better about their weight, instead of just motivating people to stay fit and healthy. Yes, love yourself, love your body, but if you DO love it, you also have to care for it! And feeding 99% on pizza and burgers or not eating at all might make you feel good for a moment, but will harm your body for a lot longer. It won't help anyone out of you keep saying that you love your body and that you're absolutely happy with yourself while any docter/specialist would tell you to change your lifestyle, if you want to live a normal life after the age of 30.
in singapore its actually really hard to fund nice clothes for people who are bigger sized. im actually not overweight but compared to other people im actually bigger sized and all my friends are all like around S sizes and i feel really insecure. and for clothes , the most common place to shop for clothes is usually bugis street . But the clothes in bugis street are usually small sized and their clothes there are like theres plenty of crop tops and high waisted pants that are really short . and for people who have more meat (like me) tend to not buy those kind of clothes that reveal skin a little as it makes us insecure. i dont tend to wear like very revealing clothes like crop tops and really short pants and i dont even wear sleeveless so its hard to actually find decent clothes around .

Being plus size is not a bad thing. I think people should look at this video in a positive light not negative. Whatever a woman size is she should be confident in what she wears. Some people have medical conditions that predisposed them to being petite or a little thicker. In the U.S. we don't mind as long as you are healthy 😀

Especially in fashion. Americans live in luxury so we tend to be on the bigger side. In other countries people don't have that luxury. So the fashion company's make clothes sizes to fit the majority of the consumers. So a small in the US might not fit the same as a small in another country.

Get someone who's over UK16, that's plussize. And the cheapest plussize clothes to get offline is US/UK branded shops and find stuff on sale or Oversized clothings at Korean/Japanese styled shops (Bugis for example). Look at the amount of time she spends going through racks and racks of clothes only to find few pieces that are relatively cheap, pretty, fashionable and fit her. I go into New Look, take 10 pieces for fitting, and maybe I can find 1 piece that I will buy. There is no way to live a budget life if you are plus size in Singapore unless u wear man's t-shirt and loose bottom.

Dorothy Perkins, for an example, cater to plus sizes and they are not cheap. It is impossible to find plus sizes in places like bugis street and sometimes online. We really had source through the website for sizes catering UK16 onwards. I don't consider Jemma a plus size, because for me.. If you can fit tops that are free sizes and can be easily purchase at any street stores or those famous online shops, you are not a plus size category. But i love Jemma's fashion,and sometimes i do take inspirations from her.
ASOS is my bestfriend. I'm a UK14/16 and I can't find clothes here unless it's UK/US brands. They have loads of "free size" and Jemma is probably the max of it. If I go to the mall they went, there's only 1 shop that's actual plussize but super expensive.

Sadly in Asia this is plus size, but Asian body types are different that American body types, My aunt told me (since she's Asian) that Asians (especially Japanese people) need to be a bit more skinnier than the average skinny person in America because they could get more risks of some diseases if they're a bit overweight.
I'm about the same size as her so its strange to hear that it's plus size there when it's a medium here in America. I get it though because I notice their shoulders are much smaller and even their hips are really small in these parts of Asia.

Just my two cents, but any size can wear skinny jeans and look good. I only wear them and I look fine in them.
It's really impossible to wear a jacket in singapore . Unless you stay in a shopping mall the whole day, but even then it's really warm
