    • @cragratoutdoors
      @cragratoutdoors  Год назад +1

      Thanks Jon - it’s only when you leave the 4x4 track that it begins to feel isolated. I’ve certainly felt more remote in other places but I guess it’s ’remoteness’ is in a physical sense and not something experienced or imagined! (Wow that’s deep) HNY to you too.

      @@cragratoutdoors I’d agree. I’ve spent time in that area and it’s really lovely, but I can’t say I felt that far from civilisation. I’ve felt far isolated on mountain peaks in the Lakes such as the summit of Pillar.

    But, I wonder what actually the most remote spot in England is?

    • @cragratoutdoors
      @cragratoutdoors  Год назад +1

      Yes it was definitely atmospheric! I’ve been given a grid reference which also had this claim to fame and it’s somewhere near kielder water. I will certainly be checking it out. Another viewer swears that it’s actually in the forest of Bowland so I’ll be heading there too!

    Hi there, been subbed a bit but I think my first watch and what a beautiful part of the Dales. I’ve had many holidays in Wharfdale and have walked the route you took but I don’t think that room was open then at the cabin so that’s interesting to know. That little stone shelter is interesting.
    Anyway I wish you good luck in your new job and plenty of great adventures for 2024.

    Nice little film there. Stunning scenery. Reference your cold feet, have you tried Marino wool socks? I have a pair for wild camping bed socks and they keep my feet toasty warm even without down booties. Secondly reference the boggy ground, I invested in Seal skin socks, they were a game changer! They keep your feet bone dry. 😊

    • @cragratoutdoors
      @cragratoutdoors  Год назад

      Thank you! Yeah I think I need to up my sock game! I was given a pair of seal skinz many years ago by a mate who wore them for riding his motorbike but I guess they weren’t the walking variety and they were as uncomfortable as hell. Need to revisit this I think!

    I enjoyed your video very much, but you only have to take a quick look at a Road Atlas planing map to see that the most isolated place in England is not in Yorkshire but in fact in Lancashire. I cannot off the top of my head tell you the exact locations which is furtherest from road or dwelling but it is somewhere in the Forest of Bowland.

    • @thewestonfront
      @thewestonfront Год назад

      My first wild camp, ca 7 years ago took me to near to that spot which is 6 miles from the nearest road or inhabited building! See westonfront.wordpress.com/2017/03/19/bedraggled-in-bowland-a-micro-adventure/

    • @cragratoutdoors
      @cragratoutdoors  5 месяцев назад

      Fair point - I doubt my small coverage will make much difference. I think what I’m trying to do is demonstrate that there are other places other than the honey pots which are in danger of being overwhelmed. What I’ve found is the most remote places have tended to lack the drama of bigger peaks and because they are boggy, bleak and difficult to get to they won’t get much footfall anyway. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
