Thanks so very much for doing this review! I’m with a SAR team and this has become my emergency shelter for field operations in the Great Smoky Mountains area of East Tennessee. With the bug screen and the large under hammock ground tarp from one wind, it makes a very nice shelter that is lightweight and easy to use. I love all of your videos and I sincerely hope that you have a speedy and complete recovery! The information you provide is greatly appreciated and is being shared with other members of our SAR team. My shelter, canteen cook set, military poncho and liner, and many other items are all things that I have learned from your blog!! I can’t begin to describe my appreciation for all of your insights and information that you have shared! Thank You very much!!!😊 Keep up the excellent work and keep the information coming in the future! You are an inspiration and invaluable source of wisdom! God Bless You!❤

I wish they would make a wedge/flap/triangle piece with corresponding zips that you could use to either completely enclose the shelter or configure into a shade fly. That would sell me 100% on this one !! Great job Blackie !!

I use this on my bicycle as well. Put the cloak on, zipper up, put the hood up over your helmet, and throw the front of the cloak over your handlebars, and it forms an umbrella over your hands, arms, legs, feet, and body. Completely dry. Great ultralight, compact, rain/shelter on the bike too. Sits tiny in my M-1936 mussette bag panniers.

I've had a net inner for a while now for when I go tarp camping, but having a poncho that can be used as a cover for that tent inner is just magic. Immediately purchased one and it'll be a nice addition to my gear.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

I love lightweight shelters like that for overnight hunting in close country. The American tradition for also using them as an emergency rain jacket is very smart. Perfect for the type of 1-2 day deer hunting I do 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

Blackie: I wanted to drop a note to thank you. I recently received a US Army MSS bivvy bag from Kaufman's. After watching your video tour of the store I had to give it a try, and I was able to get one in new condition at a far better price than elsewhere on the web. Now I'll have to consider this OneWind shelter. Keep up the great work, O Guru of the Woods. ;-)

Thanks Blackie, excellent vid of an interesting product. Unfortunately the Onewind web site makes no mention of the poncho aspect, which makes me hesitate to buy.
I have left a message with them asking for updated pics and description.
Hope you can do a few more Onewind products in the future.

Looks like an intelligent (and lightweight) variant of the one tigris tentsformer. Maybe a bit too small for me as a 'camping' tent since I measure 180cm and would touch the sloping sides very easily. But, as an emergency shelter this should work well! I might consider adding it to my summer day-hiking kit.
Thanks for the demonstration! Will be interesting to see how it works (Good I hope) when people actually use it!

If two of those could be zipped together kinda like a shelter half so to speak that would be really neat, it looks like the hood portion would prevent this and it would need a flap over the zipper. Might be worth mentioning it to them, I just looked on the site and it shows two together but they just look overlapped and not actually zipped together 🤷.

  • @jamesbowen5573
    @jamesbowen5573 Год назад

    Well I'm sold on it.
As a lightweight tent, But it would have to be a real emergency For me to wear as a poncho. 2 reasons, the first is if you snag it on something you're going to destroy it it doesn't look like it's something you could wear through the brush I've had military ponchos rip out in some of the places I go.
And secondly, Watching you try it on reminded me of Is a mix between Batman, And a monk with that hood.
Also that is not a poncho I don't care what they call it. That kind of questions how smart they are to begin with. That is in fact a Rain cloak.
Pancho's are a full sheet or blanket with a hole in it for your head to stick out while a cloak is open in the front.
In any event I would be afraid to wear it doing anything other than sitting down you are running too big of a chance of tearing that little lightweight material all up.
The price is not that bad 44 bucks however it's another 50 + 2 get the Is Mesh bug curtain. So we're talking just over a 100 bucks. Which is stillAn acceptable price range for something that small and lightweight. But you're gonna have to expect some kind of condensationUnless you leave the front open like what you have set up in their picture they have it where the front is closed off.
You're always showing us really cool stuff. That's probably why the other guys are complaining you're making them go broke buying all the neat things you find. I don't mind, I space it out. I'm still waiting on my Dang trench lighter to come in.
