Absolutely incredible. What a talent he has, and that his own bag looks so fine after twenty years of use is a testament to his craftsmanship and quality of production. The understated passion and particular attention to detail that Mr Naoyuki Komatsu lavishes on his products really comes across in this interview (and the waiting time). Just lovely to see. Thanks.

Ortus Bags is a legendary brand, and The Armoury is a legendary haberdasher. It’s a match like hand and glove

Great Interview Mark! I really respect how Komatsu-san lives by his value to never compromise. As some makers face higher demand, they tend to take some shortcuts to allow them to make their products faster which does jeopardise quality.
It would be cool to see him make a bag out of Japanese Shinki or Ogawa Shell Cordovan

perhaps my favorite interview you've uploaded thus far. it was lovely to hear Komatsu-san express his respect and passion for his materials, and his hope that his creations will be his legacy. the world is eternally richer thanks to those who create beauty that lasts beyond their own lifetime

My maternal side is also Komatsu, so this interview was even more enjoyable, arigatou Mark-san!

Wow, what a great interview! Komatsu-san is a legend in the leather bag world and now we know why! He is humble and honest, he loves and he lives for his craft! BTW, the two bags showed by the master were wonderful and your bag on the back chair was great too (could not see it very well from distance)!
One of your best interview in my opinion!

It is very beautiful, love the craftsmanship, however I probably won’t want to use such a beautiful bag as a daily carrier as I am quite reckless. Love your videos as always. Thanks for introducing this guy to the world.

THank you for the great interview. Is it possible to do an interview with a Japanese bespoke tailor?

Hi Mark, what's the model name of your bag at the end of the video? I wasn't able to find it on Ortus' website.

Hi Benny, this was a bespoke for Mark so it is not listed as a production model on the website. If you are interested we can assist with the enquiry with Komatsu-san!

I have to say it's much better when the japanese just speak japanese. When they try to answer in english, I'm sorry to say, they can't really articulate their thoughts very in depth - which has ruined some of your interviews in this series for me, but not this one.
