This film is like a fever dream of thinly connected subplots and characters with the thinnest of overarching plots holding it all together and I love it
This scene was filmed in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, (a high-tourist city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site) which is not a “favela” for whoever posted this video. A favela is a slum in Brazil.

Well to be fair, his character in this movie was actually written for Quentin Tarantino, and was given to Trejo when Quentin had to pull out. Interestingly, Trejo actually loved it simply because it was one of the very few times he actually got a lot of dialogue.
To be fair, Rodriguez does use the same actors over again in his movies, even if it is in the same movie or series. For example, Cheech Marin played 3 different roles in from dusk till dawn and I believed 2 of them died in that movie. Trejo is playing a different character just like Cheech did in that movie.

2003 was such a fun year for action movies
2:00 My favorite part. Those ultra-fast cut scenes are such a Robert Rodriguez trademark much like John Woo’s two pistols facing off
such an underrated action scene. fun, great sense of humor and just wild. The wilhelm scream is the chef's kiss.

That was my thought. The general culture of people nowadays is below any minimum, despite such an easy access to this information.
barrio ?
To compare San Miguel de Allende, Mexico to a slum is just down right uncivilized!

Antonio Banderas is essentially the Spanish version of John Wick.
Absolutely!
with style
No es el. Mariachi jejeje
El Mariachi's been around longer. If anything, John Wick is the American El Mariachi
Imagine a cameo crossover of both John and the mariachi but they somehow knew each other
I love the last scene when Ruben Blades says "See ya" to Johnny Depp's blind character. The response: Eff You. Too cool.
I never noticed that literally only the goons are wearing sunglasses on an obviously very sunny day lol
Este es el verdadero cine de acción hispanoamericano. No las burradas de wakanda y demás producciones de inclusión forzada.

El Mariachi Vs Machete
a comienzos del siglo XXI (2003)
3:40 danny looking like he about to F some sh*t up. and after being in san quentin and a boxing champ he plays the part very natural
That long-range sawn-off shotgun shot is the stuff of legends...
this took place in Mexico 🇲🇽 where they call neighborhoods "barrios" not "favelas" which are in 🇧🇷
Every time I see Danny, it's always funny how literally not a single soul in the movie questions how the fuck dude got ressurected after getting got by the mob in the Desperado.
I just noticed that too lmao, I guess that's why he's the best hitman, he never actually dies
He is machete. Machete kills, not being killed
Robert Rodriguez is the Latino John Woo. The Mariachi Trilogy is aces. I'd love to see the gang come back for Part 4.

Danny for when they want a badass but don't wanna really do anything with him🤣
Generally... yea. That sums up most of his career.
To be fair, that's why machete is a thing. So this guy can be a badass and actually do something. Lol.
Well Macheta exists, and seems like it's somewhat based off of the "knives" character from Desperado

Typical. The bad guy has the protagonist right where he wants him, and instead of killing him, he knocks him out so that he can escape later 😒
Well, he said he wants the bounty on El Mariachi, the cartel wants him alive for General Marquez

What is very dumb in this movie is that Danny Trejo played in it. He was killed in the movie before: Desperado the 2nd part of Mariachi Trilogy
He prefers for his characters to die in movies if they are villains or something like that.
