    I’m so glad these videos exist. I saw this tour in Atlanta (with a girl, so there was at least one!), but after 35 years, the memory needs a little help. 😂 And even back then, we knew Geddy’s hair was silly. 😉

    • @TheReaperMan275
      @TheReaperMan275 Год назад +1

      Even Geddy acknowledges it. He referred to his hair during this time period as a coonskin hat! 🤣Hey, if you can't laugh at yourself, who else can you laugh at.

    That moment when Geddy triggers the strings and likely other things with his hands and feet, gets his hands on the right position on the bass and looks to his bandmates...almost in fear....then everything lands in sync and he's back to grooving...GOLD! 03:52

    I like the verse melody in this song more than the refrain. That's kinda backwards. Great performance. Geddy's focus and precision while multitasking is impressive, just a great real-time musician.

    "Manhattan Project" always makes me tear up because of its lyrics. As a child of the 60s, I grew up in fear of nuclear war. I was born less than 14 years after the devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Yes, the US "shot down the Rising Sun" and the country remains as the ONLY nation to EVER use these, and appoints itself as the "moral compass" of the world.
    Before I get blasted in the comments, I served for 8 years in the Navy and made 2 WestPac deployments. The people of Asia are wonderful!!

    Someone wrote in a magazine at the time that he lokked like he was wearing a badger. Geddy today kinda agrees.
    Amazing sing though. Pretty rare for any band to write about something so serious.

    One of the “technical” aspects often forgotten or overlooked about Power Windows was the recording in digital audio format created an audiophile’s dream. The rich clear thick bass tones of those pedals even in concert would create the “pants flap” when you could FEEL the bass more than hearing it and on a super hifi stereo OMG tremendous. PS it was the time of hair metal so Geddy was respectfully representing 😅😂❤🎹🥁🎸🎤🤘🖖✌️

    This song like Marathon, albeit good songs, got slightly overplayed during the tours of the 80s and early 90s, before Counterparts saw a return to a more straight-ahead rock style. Good to see these videos again all the same.

    Alex has had some flock of seagulls styles before so he can easily beat geddy in the bad hair days. I remember one old interview clip I saw where it looked like Alex had a perm. Was all curly. No clue what he was going for then. It just adds to the Rush is not cool theme that lasted most of their career. It’s only been recent times with reaction videos where people outside of the Rush bubble are finally hearing them.

    Definitely one of their great songs. Very powerful lyrically. It’s even better live due to the images shown on the rear projection screen. Although it depicts the invention and first use of nuclear weapons the song came out during the height of the Cold War.
