An aircraft carrier is a warship that serves as a sea-based air force base. It is also equipped with C-RAM and a flight deck on which military aircraft and suitable supply aircraft can take off and land. It also contains infrastructure for the transport, repair, arming and disarming of military aircraft as well as for the protection of the aircraft carrier. Each of the aircraft carriers in use today normally forms the core of a carrier combat group. With their help, a state can act militarily worldwide, even without maintaining bases in the conflict area. Modern large aircraft carriers (fleet aircraft carriers) with a displacement of over 75,000 tn.l. are sometimes also called "Supercarriers".

Yeah thats what’s considered “at peace standing” the US does it as well, keeping planes on boats is a very taxing task and it takes alot of work. So to minimize the amount of at sea maintenance they’ll keep just enough planes on board to to run recon and launch for emergency operations. Most of the planes that would be kept on the carrier itself are stationed at an airport where it’s easier to store, fly, and maintenance them.
That alone should demonstrate how difficult it is to operate a true super carrier that be used in a theater of war.
It takes decades of planning, resources and personnel to operate and commission those carriers.
Russia has no active carriers and China may have one carrier but that is debatable. Having a large looking ship that is called a carrier does not make it a true naval warship that can operate anywhere in the world.
For a carrier to be effective it requires a carrier group with support ships including subs and anti submarine warfare capabilities as well. Going up against the group on its own would be a very daunting task but once you include the fact the carrier can have 70 attack role fighter jets it makes it an impossible task for all the countries on earth.

It’s crazy how only france and the US have nuclear powered carriers. Everyone else runs some sort of steam or diesel engine which seems really inefficient for the amount of weight these ships have to carry.

This is the first representation of the Russian carrier I’ve seen where it hasn’t either been belching smoke or under two from it’s tug. Thailand has a more effective carrier.

I am an Indian and i know very clearly that currently our navy has 1 active aircraft carrier and 1 in sea trials while the 3rd carrier is still in designing phase which if everything gets done on time will enter service around 2030.

I was a bit confused with the numbers. The Chinese navy (PLAN) has 2 aircraft carriers and 4 LPDs. The Royal Navy has 2 aircraft carriers and 2 LPDs. The US Navy has 10 LHD/As and 11/12 active aircraft carriers. Great vid and animation though!
In addition the San Antonio class consists of 12 LPDs, so it is confusing when you use LPDs for other navies but not the US.

It is not just about numbers. No other nation operates a carrier that has the capabilities of a Nimitz or Ford class ship. Just as important is that no nation possesses the institutional knowledge and experience that the US does in the operation of this very complex fighting system.
UK QE class carriers are more modern than Nimitz class ( although smaller). I would guess the royal navy has the same knowledge of carriers as the US as they invented them and they carry out regular training together.

The UK doesn't have 4 carriers. They only have 2 QEs. Their only help carrier, HMS Ocean was sold off.
The US has 10 Nimitz and 1 Ford class in testing. 2 more Fords are in the pipeline.
They have 8 Wasp class LHDs and 2 America class in service. Another America class ship is being constructed.
The two UK Albion-Class assault ships, HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark, are capable of embarking helicopters up to the size of a Chinook.
If you include assault ships as helicopter capable decks then ,for the UK, you also have to add 3 Bay class LPD’s and Argus as a helicopter carrier. That gives the UK 2 aircraft carriers and 6 helicopter ships.

The usual wing is formed of harriers and a couple of helicopters, but it can be reinforced with more helicopters in case of supporting an amphibious landing. The Galicia class are more capable as sole helicopter carriers

China officially had two active service carriers in 2020, but if their new CV carriers and the new LSH helicopter assault carriers are also included the number will be 4 CV and 3 LSH when all of them are completed.
To having no carriers in service around a decade ago, to having 7 very modern and well designed and expensive ships (the second largest carrier fleet in the world) is an amazing achievement.

@@0OO00O Technically we have one operational carrier, one carrier in trials, and a helicopter landing dock (which isn't really a helicopter carrier). There's also one carrier in development and a tender for at least 4 true helicopter carriers.

@@naveed4061 settling trades in dollars does not create net demand for dollars since the end-result is as if the trade had happened directly via two currencies. using the USD is convenient because it is a very liquid hard-currency market. to the extent foreign central banks decide to stockpile dollar denominated debt and assets is an entirely separate matter. however, by being the reserve currency and the currency via which many foreign transactions pass through, the US has soft power in terms of the financial systems of many governments. For example, sanctions against countries such as Iran can to some extent be imposed unilaterally by the US due the reliance of the USD for international monetary transactions.
Don’t forget nobody makes the “slope” ramps like the Chinese though.

ถ้าจะซื้อลำใหญ่กว่านี้ ผมว่าไทยเราก็ซื้อได้น๊ะ แต่ภารกิจของกองทัพเรือไทยเราคือรักษาเอกราชทางทะเลของไทยเราเป็นสำคัญ ไม่ใช่ทำหน้าที่ตำรวจโลกเหมือนอย่างอเมริกา เพียงเรือบรรทุก ฮ. ก็เพียงพอแล้ว ส่วนพวกนายพลที่มากเกินไปนั้น ต้องเข้าใจว่า มันเป็นผลมาจากสงครามเย็นที่เราต้องผลิตนายทหารจำนวนมากๆเพื่อให้เพียงพอกับสงคราม ครั้นบ้านเมืองสงบแล้วจะปรับเขาออกก็ไม่ถูก แต่เดี๋ยวนี้ การรับนายทหารสัญญาบัตร เขาก็จำกัดจำนวนลงมาก ซึ่งต่อไปจำนวนนายพลก็จะลดลงตามไปเองตามกาลเวลา
