“Science Bars” are actually a super cool deep cut about the beat! The beat for Halftime was written by Large Professor who was a part of the group Main Source. Main source had an album called Breaking Atoms that included Nasty Nas on a track called Live at the BBQ. Also the pirate “Wave” references pop back to that Nas originally went by the name “Kid Wave”.
I've always had an eclectic taste of music, which involves listening to many different artists but Ren fulfils all of my tastes by himself. Simply amazing ❤

I'm not sure you noticed in either viewing, but just before Ren walks under the overpass the camera falls behind and follows a school bus passing (the 'old school' rap school bus, I'm guessing) which is a cool shot BUT REALLY is there to avoid 2 pedestrians coming the other way down the sidewalk which would have RUINED this perfect take just before the end. That directorial PRESENCE OF MIND on the fly, is for me the MOST impressive filmic element in the video. It was said of the great dancer Ginger Rodgers that she did everything Fred Astaire did only backwards in heels. This made me think of that quote. Always enjoy your reactions and analysis!!

He said it always seems like he's fitting together pieces of a puzzle when he writes. It's like the song already exists. He's not creating it; he's finding it. That probably accounts for why it sounds so natural.
