I came here for the farm info and this turned out to be a way better flying camera tutorial than half the videos about using the flying camera. Thank you !
Don't think it is working anymore, sprinkler can't clip over fan ceiling. Plus water won't work through multi floor now(it used to)
I did some testing today. You can sandwich two planter boxes on top of one another using half-wall and ceiling and they will irrigate through the floor. I haven't been able to test lighting. My thought is that the half-wall and floor method might work for having two levels of planting in combination with the mushroom deviant to plant and harvest through the ceiling tiles. I'll test that all later but this might be an added bit of "the more you know" to play around with your min-maxing.
this looked possible last night... i wonder if you can go a half wall up as well.
@@unclemusclez the issue I ran into was lights don't seem to act the same way as the sprinklers. Maybe some of the textures you can unlock allow for light to pass through but even so, the planter above may also block it and I just couldn't get that working. The mushroom deviant does teleport in between layers though so maybe some crop doesn't need light and this could work. Haven't planted mushrooms yet so no clue on light reqs there.
Love the info. I've been experimenting and running 82 planters, 41 on a plot (7x5 with irrigation place on the floor in center) essentially what you figured out here but without tweaking the actual irrigation height to split floors and extend to 4 out. I also have mine in a stacked 2 story config because my plots aren't half raised and I've just been setting the lights 2 high instead of another half, tho I do use an extra light or two lol. It's been working pretty well and I don't know if I'm min-max enough to want to rebuild but your crop and acid farm are looking dope. That being said a tip for the lights, if you don't mind placing them back up again, the best way to change light levels I've found is to just bring the light to you not climb to it.

It is very good but I think you are complicating yourself with the irrigation system, I was experimenting and my main idea was to make a 5x5 removing the middle box for the irrigation system, and to make it perfectly aligned I made a 3x3 stone base and enclosed it with walls with a height of 2 and a half walls for the light, then putting perfectly aligned boxes from wall to wall, you achieve a 7x7, and the light at that height (2 and a half walls) with the sprinkler system in the middle works well, it does not hit in the 4 corners both light and water, so it would be 44 boxes in total, if you do all this in a separate building from your main building, you can save it as a plan and replicate it as many times as you want, I have done it 4 times just because I do not have so much space, so I have 176 boxes in total working with 4 lights and 4 sprinkler systems.

So precision placement actually does something? i guess i always tried it in free flight mode. Snapping planter boxes together would make this far less tedious. i made 8 9 by 9 grids with a sprinkler in the middle and light above but i could not get the lights to change unless i put up walls. something about natural light not letting it happen. someone posted that on steam forums and it worked. maybe they were to close to the edge. Also the growshroom is terrible unless you are a mono crop farmer.

there is no reason (other than being able to place the plots right up to the centre) to have the sprinklers lower. i put mine all the way up to the ceiling. and it was still watering the line of 4 out from the centre. and stopped at the 5th)

hi friend have you tryid using cardbord boxes 1 to maximize space utilize ? you can half the size of a planter box with furniture
also with cardboardbox 3 you can hover the water to spread it trough severeal layers
