Nearly 24,000 TEUs. Even from the wings, you can barely see past the stacks of containers. Most ports in the world can't even handle a ship of this size.

While the engine’s power delivery has been adjusted downwards to achieve an optimal fuel consumption, the ME-C Mk 10.5 type is capable of delivering 6,870 kW per cylinder, making it the most powerful engine ever developed by MAN Energy Solutions’ Two-Stroke business. Physically, it measures almost 22 meters in length, 18 meters in height and 2,230 metric tons in weight.
Fun fact: If you put Coca Cola cargo onto her, every light she slowly goes past would magically light up and you would hear the chant 'holidays are coming, holidays are coming, always Coca Cola, tis the season always the real thing!'

Hope someone can answer me a question that i have since i was a child: how the hell can the lowest container resist to the weight of the entire column? Ships have some kind of system that hold some of the weight? Thank you container experts :)
@@michealktrevor i know that but i cant imagine that can resist to all that tons. Imagine if there are 15 container above x 40 tons / 4 corner....is 150 tons of compression over one corner. Impressive...
@@PistoKTM on any cargo vessel there is always a Stowage Plan. In the case of container ships this plan has the representation of every space (cell) where you can stow a container. There are tons of info you need to do this, and also restrictions. Usually one of the restrictions is about the weight. It is optimal to carry the heaviest containers the lowest as possible (because of stabilization due to lowering the center of gravity). In terms of each stack, containers are done with resistance for a certain weight, in the plan that is also taken into consideration. On top of that different parts of the ship have different weight limits. Like on the deck, if you put containers on top of the hatches you need to consider the weight limit of said hatch, also if you put on the hold or on deck, to the side rows or in the middle rows, all of these are also limitations to the weight taken into consideration in the stowage plan. Basically I'm trying to say there are a lot of limitations on terms of weight, all planned and stowage is done with that in mind. Tho thankfully, nowadays there are softwares that do that plan since there are quite a lot of other restrictions, limitations and info to consider. Despite all that, sometimes, some containers collapse. It can be for many reasons, like the container not being in a good shape (usually they are taken out of circulation, but exceptions happen), bad cargo distribution inside the container, really bad weather (usually tries to avoid it),etc... So, even with measures taken to prevent it, containers can collapse. BTW, sorry for the novel sized answer.
