Beautiful and good video Courtney as always! I'm so happy to follow your work, those little details of nature, the exquisite processing of your photos, your peaceful voice explaining it. Everything perfectly placed in the right place. Thank you for sharing it.
As always Courtney- great video. I really liked "Echo", and it's because of you, I look forward to grabbing my camera gear and heading out into the wilds. Your casual pace is a pleasure to be a part of. We'll continue watching "over your shoulder" from Port Angeles, WA. USA, where spring has sprung! Keep up the good work!
I liked the out of focus part of “Echo.” Just because we can focus stack doesn’t mean we always should. Your photo evokes classic macro photography for me. Really fun video to watch. The way you talk about your shots seems like you’re just talking to us like we’re there. Thanks.
fantastic video, i felt like i was watching one of those learning shows.. the way you went from shot to shot and the words you use, very informative and also very lovely photos 🙂
Stumbled across this video today and I'd like to say I felt really happy to see a content different in pace and style from what's is generally created on RUclips. Keep it going!
Hi, I am a fresh amateur from Somerset. I really like your channel, watching your videos I have learned some useful information and even decided to switch from APSC to FF. Now I am a proud owner of a d780, and it is truly a big step forward. I am eagerly looking forward to your next videos, wishing you great shots and unforgettable moments.
First time watcher of one of your videos, and I really enjoyed your content. That shot at 8:14 'Mossy Hide Out' is superb. I nice reminder to slow down and take the time to observe. Subbed.
"Mossy Hide Out" is extraordinary! I enjoy your videos and photography, have been following you here for a while now. I have to say, "Mossy Hide Out" may very well be my favorite image. Do not ever stop capturing mushrooms!
Watching you explore the Forest in those Wellies reminded me of my favorite Brit of all time, Compo from Last of the Summer Wine. Thanks, Haven't been reminded of him in far too long and it made me smile!
Just discovered your channel. Really appreciate the way you walk through all of your thought processes. For someone new to photography like me, this is far more useful than the typical “10 mistakes ALL photographers make” or “best settings for camera x” type videos out there. Also appreciate the chilled vibe immensely. Will be downloading loads of these to watch on my next long haul flight 😊
I’ve been interested in Photography almost since I can remember. I’m also a RUclips addict, lol. There are subjects I binge on for months, even years. Sadly, though, I’ve only found two RUclips photography channels I like, and yours is one of them.
Your work shows just how difficult it is to make art from the muddle of nature. By perseverance and natural ability you make lovely images. Many think you can just walk into the countryside and the images present themselves. They dont. Its hard and lengthy work. ❤️
I did post a comment in a previous video giving out about the advertising and sponsorship but after watching two of your videos it is a small price to pay! I love the way you explain your photos and the thought process. Inspirational...literally!
I just smiled when I seen the fungi, I knew what you were up too! Stunning capture’s. Your photos never bore me. I always look forward to seeing your videos. 👏🏻❤️📷
Another beautiful gem of a video Courtney. Very inspiring and I feel the same shooting in woodlands, I can’t see the composition for the trees at times. Never attempted Macro, but feeling inspired. Was wonderful to meet you at Birmingham NEC and thanks for letting me steal a selfie.
Good to meet you last weekend. Some cracking little finds there. The moss spores were great. Have you ever thought of carrying a small spritz bottle for some of these macro images? Take care.
Amazed to see your Professionalism , I would love to follow you onwards to see your informative and professional content , and start learnings . Thanks that you are in youtube ❤
I recently come across your channel and love your videos. You present yourself and film your videos so well with valuable information and things to consider, well done from a fellow photographer from South Wales :-)
Thanks again Courtney for another interesting video with great images.... interesting location with many possible compositions....you have a great eye for unusual but interesting subjects.... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
Thank you for another amazing video. I love when you share the settings that you used as well. As a beginning photographer I like that because it helps me to learn more about my camera. I loved the photo with the trees. As you were looking for a shot/composition I was looking beyond as you were walking and the row of trees far off in the distance made this real cool looking archway. I love the forest and the weather looks like it is shaping up here in Oregon. I want to get out and dust the cobwebs off my kit. I would love to see a forest video with the telephoto lens. What kind of filters do you use on days like you were having that this video? Was it an overcast day? Thank you
Your forest macro work is so inspiring. I live in Suffolk and we simply don't have that kind of mossy floor in any area I have visited, but I shall have to open my eyes and find some subjects for my new macro lens.
You are my inspiration to get into my local forest with macro equipment. I love the images, and the one of the moss sporophyte (Echo) is really lovely. Critcially sharp in just he right spots.
I really liked the "Echo" shot, simple and beautiful. I'll also say I'm glad to see another photographer who doesn't feel the need to have the very latest equipment and understands that using used gear is a good environmental choice. I have the same Tamron 100-400 lens, and love the results I get with it, by the way. All the Best! :)
I can't take tree pictures, they just never work, so don't take my thoughts as having any value. But, I did think the vertical shot, rather than the square crop gave a sense of height to the tall trees. I liked the use of the DX mode, making sure there wasn't too mushroom around your subject....see what I did there? As I think I've said B4, you have an eye for composition I very much envy!
I would recommend the tiny, lightweight Laowa 65mm macro lens - fits in a small pocket, takes great detail in handheld manual unless its blowing a gale.😮 tip: also use red peaking
Awesome video and photos my friend! I kept saying out loud you do see that amazing tunnel back there! Shoot it, shoot it!!!! 1:43 maybe you have taken that shot before!👍👍👍
As a viewer, I feel you have made the change from someone that makes very interesting videos to a photographer that has developed a distinct style that will be the envy and model for many macro photographers. I certainly enjoy your woodland photos, but your macros make a statement. Is it time for a book?
That was a very nice episode... I was myself out in the woodland today taking pictures and sat down to watch your new vid while I ate my lunch when I returned home. I was at The Crosby Arboretum in Picayune Mississippi USA
Another great video Courtney. I think it's a good idea to use the telephoto lens in the woods as it gives you a different perspective. The Echo image i really liked as it spore looked like it was a reflection of the first one. Look forward to the next one.
Love your videos - both educational and entertaining! You have gotten me into the world of macro - I got the Laowa 100/2.8 and love it. Incredibly sharp lens at an extremely reasonable price. My only (sorta) disagreement with ya - why crop in camera? I’ve always shot full frame, with an idea for the crop. I hate discarding that extra real estate as I might reconsider when editing. Just my thoughts. ❤❤
You‘re inspiring me with that way you Look at the world of small things. Next time I Go with my Camera into the Woods I try this to do with „Open Eyes“. Thank You !❤
Very peaceful video , thanks. Not quite sure why you're stacking your images but it works. Also have a question as to why you aren't using a cable release or your self timer for those closeups. Love the videos. Thanks.
Nice Video. Why you move your cameras Up Side down, for Low angle? You can tilt the ballhead to the Side, and use the L-Bracket Side mount. So you can easy handle the camera. Greetings from germany
Great video. I love the "Echo" photo. Yes, by all means use your telephoto in the forest. I have many times and have been very happy with the resulting photos. It can, however, be tricky to find the right composition.
I enjoyed your video! As you were preparing to take the trees, there was an interesting channel through the woods that you can see at 1:39 or so. I personally might have attempted to use that channel with trees to either side to create a composition, getting a tunnel of light effect. The near perfect verticality of the trees in this wood would still have been apparent.
Hi Courtney! Just wanted to say how nice it was to meet you at the Photography Show last week! Loved that first macro image of the pine cone by the way!
Damn your square crop shows on screen as a square crop! I was faffing last week trying to stick foil down the sides of my screen to impose a square crop.
I'd like to see you try a pseudo prime shoot using your 70-200mm lens, just using one focal length, perhaps at the long end and wide open to get a good depth of field... I'm not sure how challenging that will be for you in the woodland?
Courtney - You are the best...I simply wish that you would post videos more often. Seems that you are slacking a bit! Keep them coming - most entertaining on the internet, as well as being very helpful.
I truly enjoy your videos. They transport me to a peaceful and secure world of nature. I find myself watching them repeatedly, never tiring of their beauty. Every detail you capture is stunning. Your videos are like short stories, immersing viewers in the depths of nature's splendor. As an additional suggestion, have you considered using a small misting device to create water droplets on the intricate details you film? I believe the effect would be quite captivating
Courtney got me interested in forest photography. I have made it my new love, especially macro photography. I am also in the U.S. and live in extreme northwest Ohio. For macro, I am using the Z8 and the Nikon Z 105 mm macro. Together, they are a beast!
Hello Victoria. When have you been in the woods for this video? I’m asking because the nature looks quite alive while here in Germany (it’s march 25, 2024) everything is still grey and dead. I couldn’t find any early flowers in the forest.
I get much satisfaction from your videos, and images. Some of your work parallels mine, a little at least, but my gear is limited - cropping to optimize my composition is a matter of backing up or moving closer, zooming a bit, and thank goodness for Photoshop! I don't print large very often, so my resolution is okay for sizes that fit my space. Thank you for sharing - my life is better for it!
You are blessed to have been born in a technoligically advanced Age. Photography and life could have been so much better for us older viewers. We did however benefit from a more generally relaxed lifestyle, no World Wars and the Prog Rock era. Keep noticing nature, Courtney.
Hi Courtney, as for your question regarding the photostacking, I still like macro pictures, where only a certain part of the object is in focus. As for myself, that stops me from photo stacking, when I am out.
She has such a beautiful eye for the small things! ❤
I really like your image “Echo”. It is dreamy. Not abstract. Just dreamy.. to the right degree!
Beautiful and good video Courtney as always!
I'm so happy to follow your work, those little details of nature, the exquisite processing of your photos, your peaceful voice explaining it.
Everything perfectly placed in the right place.

I loved the mirror image. The little mushroom cap nestled in the green moss was exquisite!
This is surprisingly peaceful and inspiring to watch. Thank you so much for sharing this.
fantastic video, i felt like i was watching one of those learning shows.. the way you went from shot to shot and the words you use, very informative and also very lovely photos 🙂

Great video Courtney. All the images and compositions are super but I really liked that "Mossy Hide Out" :)
Watching you explore the Forest in those Wellies reminded me of my favorite Brit of all time, Compo from Last of the Summer Wine. Thanks, Haven't been reminded of him in far too long and it made me smile!
Great video Courtney. Yes, I think that is a great idea to do a telephoto only forest photo shoot.
Absolutely brilliant Cortney. I’m really enjoying your videos.
Just discovered your channel. Really appreciate the way you walk through all of your thought processes. When i am in a wood i like to take photos of moss covered tree roots. I like the way that they appear to be snaking towards you in the photo.
Hi, you're awesome! Please go on with your content!
Hello, thank you for taking me along, the great explanations and great pictures. Best regards, Albert
Your work shows just how difficult it is to make art from the muddle of nature. By perseverance and natural ability you make lovely images. Many think you can just walk into the countryside and the images present themselves. They dont. Its hard and lengthy work. ❤️
The photo "Echo" was perfect as it is, thank you...👍
I often use my 100-500mm lens with open aperture for close up's with photostacking...like it!
I did post a comment in a previous video giving out about the advertising and sponsorship but after watching two of your videos it is a small price to pay! I love the way you explain your photos and the thought process. Inspirational...literally!
Lovely macro work. As for using long lenses for landscape photography I totally agree . I usually use 35mm to 135 mm. Tne classic focal lengths
I just smiled when I seen the fungi, I knew what you were up too! Stunning capture’s. Your photos never bore me. I always look forward to seeing your videos. 👏🏻❤️📷
Goes without saying, you captured some lovely images, have you ever tried Macro insects?
Love your photos and indeed: the most important thing is to enjoy the adventure. Love the musical choices you made too. :)

I so love Mossy Hideout...well spotted
Awesome video and photos my friend! I kept saying out loud you do see that amazing tunnel back there! Shoot it, shoot it!!!! 1:43 maybe you have taken that shot before!👍👍👍
„Mossy Hide Out“ is such a lovely picture 😍 well spotted 👏🏻
Great video. I'd be interested to see your usage of extension tubes (or even a comparison of that approach vs a macro lens)
As a viewer, I feel you have made the change from someone that makes very interesting videos to a photographer that has developed a distinct style that will be the envy and model for many macro photographers. Lovely day in the forest Courtney so serene and beautiful mushrooms, ' Echo" ✌🏽
Thanks for sharing your experiences. You created some awesome images.
Great photos! I’m amazed that you can find mushrooms all year around where you live. I’m envious. Now I’m inspired to go look for macro subjects.
Another great video Courtney.

Very peaceful video , thanks. Not quite sure why you're stacking your images but it works. Also have a question as to why you aren't using a cable release or your self timer for those closeups. Love the videos. Thanks.
I am fine with the spore not being tack sharp. As you said it was ethereal and it is beautiful on it own. Kudos
Superb video as always, fab location, whereabouts in the Forest of Dean is this?
Favorite genre of photography! Man these cameras and lenses are massive! I am glad for mirrorless cameras.
It's great to see you work, good shots.

Hi Courtney Victoria I just bought a Nikon D750 and a Nikon 105mm Micro or macro, I love to follow your videos Thanks
Always very interesting watching your videos with your creative images and I like your image titles! Kind regards from Sweden
Great job Courtney good video as always.
Thanks Courtney. A great video and I love the photos
Great video, love ‘echo’, thanks Courtney.😊
These feel so peaceful and meditative to watch, the scenery is beyond gorgeous.
Stunning shots, of a secret world.
Thoroughly enjoy it! Another great video Courtney.

Been using the D850 since 2018. It's still my go-to for nature photography.
Courtney - You are the best...I simply wish that you would post videos more often. Seems that you are slacking a bit! Keep them coming - most entertaining on the internet, as well as being very helpful.
Another great video, I particularly liked the “echo” photo.
Really Nice video Courtney, and it was great to meet you Last week!
Wonderful work. I visited your website. Very nice work.
Yes I love your channel. At the same time, I feel like you are something out of a Harry Potter Movie. Please take that as a compliment.
Excellent shots as always
Great photos: Thank-you for sharing!
I truly enjoy your videos. They transport me to a peaceful and secure world of nature. I find myself watching them repeatedly, never tiring of their beauty. Every detail you capture is stunning. Your videos are like short stories, immersing viewers in the depths of nature's splendor.

I love your videos and your voice.
You should do hour long nature walk videos as a relaxation ASMR kind of thing. 📸🌿
I've been waiting for your new video for days, finally!
The OOF echo you did with the sporophytes is quite lovely. Sporophytes are tough to shoot.
I, for one, enjoy your mushroom shots, ma'am. 😊
I get a lot from your videos so, thank you!!!
Courtney was clearly a forest pixie in a previous life. (Or Mario, given how often she gets them!)
you got me hooked on photographing moss spores, I brought out my Helios 40mm and adapted it to my canon camera.
Hello from New Zealand! :-) with the "Echo" shot of the two spores...how would a portrait crop work?
Again , another great video.. i wish i could learn photography with you in person!
One can never take enough mushrroms images! Great post
Love all of your videos here in the U.S.
Courtney got me interested in forest photography. I have made it my new love, especially macro photography. I am also in the U.S. and live in extreme northwest Ohio. For macro, I am using the Z8 and the Nikon Z 105 mm macro. Together, they are a beast!

Great video, I really like your Forrest videos. I would like to see the telephoto Forrest challenge.
Woww.. whats the camera you're using for video? footage looks amazing!
You are blessed to have been born in a technoligically advanced Age. Photography and life could have been so much better for us older viewers. We did however benefit from a more generally relaxed lifestyle, no World Wars and the Prog Rock era. Keep noticing nature, Courtney.
Another good video & good to meet you at the NEC last week!
С удовольствием смотрю ваши ролики!
Очень позитивно и познавательно! ❤ 👍😊
Its dreamy .. Courtney. Looking into getting a 60mm Macro soon. Cheers
