    Outstanding video, Iris!
I posted this on another video and will post it here in the hope that it will help out others:
Pro tip: Use isopropyl alcohol at as close to 100% concentrate as possible to wash your brushes out. Paint thinner will not work, and will, in fact, make a mess. You can then dry and re-use your brush for the second coat. Rollers are probably easier to use once and pitch, but I've had better success doing a sink with a brush.
Remove absolutely all caulk, and any contaminants that may be on the surface. Spend a lot of time sanding. When your arm gets tired, keep sanding until it's ready to fall off. Then sand some more. It may not look like you are scratching the surface, but you are on a microscopic level. And it's absolutely imperative to do a thorough job so the paint can adhere to the glazed tile or porcelain sink.
Using non-bleach toilet bowl cleaner works great to cleanse and strip any residue. Follow directions on the bottle. Rinse with water and dry the surface. Use a fan to continue the drying process until you are certain there is no moisture hidden in cracks or crevices.
As stated in this and other videos, good prep work is key to good results.

You should consider a respirator when working with this type of paint, a dust mask is not enough. Also you may wish to add a box fan to the doorway of the bathroom to pull out the fumes as you work. During the prep, I usually add a cheap plastic painters tarp for the rest of the bathroom to stop the sanding dust from getting everywhere or any paint splatter.

Used this on my 24 year old sinks and they look brand new again. Beautiful results and simple to apply. I know some people recommend using a foam brush to apply the epoxy but I wouldn't recommend that except to get in the corners/edges. On the sink, soft bristle paint brush worked like a charm. Foam rollers just get soggy and limpy.

Great video! I noticed the nap did put a slight bit of "orange peel" texture on to the tub surface. Just curious, after its all said and done, and viewing with the naked eye if it might have been better to just give the tub a good mechanical polishing. I've seen a painted tub or two in person, and still not sure I could ever try it. Thank you for teaching us the proper techniques though. Very thorough and same lessons can apply to properly prepping and painting many surfaces. Well done!

I called Rustoleum, they advised no more than two coats the first day, if you wanted to add additional coats to wait 24 hours to repeat. Did you not waiting for the 3rd and 4th coat effect anything negatively?

  • @felixthecat9347

Update: So when you think the tub is clean, clean it again! It is super important that the surface is prepared. A couple of tips, when you think the tub is clean and ready to be painted, use a straight edge razor and lightly go over the tub, then wipe the blade off on a dark colored piece of clothing. If you see any residue, clean it again. Second tip: remove the shower head, and unscrew the drain lever from the tub wall. Now use a paper cup and place it over the hole where the shower head was connected, attach it with tape, now do the same exact thing to the tub spout. You don't want any water dripping onto the painted surface until it has cured. Also, I used blue painters tape and taped the bathtub lever to the tub spout so that it was hanging out of the way when I painted the tub. Other than that, this is probably the best video on how to paint a tub with Rustoleum.

I did this a few years ago. I would definitely remove the tub drain hardware before cleaning and application, then replace afterward the coating is dry.I would also not trust that paper respirator. Get a real organic vapor cartridge-type respirator such as those used for auto body paint shops. This stuff stinks.....I mean....it REALLY stinks, and will knock you out from the vapors if you don't have the right protection. The hardener is no joke. Very toxic fumes. Dust mask = no good.It takes a LONG time for the smell to dissipate so do this well in advance of
people being in the house - at least a week. It's well worth the effort, but mine still chipped off after a couple years of use. Probably inadequate prep on my part.

Has anyone addressed the longevity of this product?

I have heard a few comments from other users that they experienced peeling within a year but that has not been the case with me. I'm guessing the two most important steps for long term results are 1) thorough prep and start w a clean surface 2) allow for an extended drying time, not just 24 -hours. I allowed my tub to dry for over a week and have had no issues. Of course, I would also avoid abrasive cleansers. I don't think I have heard from anyone with experience beyond 2 years.

so what's the best brand, this or the ekopel 2k? can any1 confirm they used ANY of these and tub has no chipping in 3-5 years?

I hate that all this tub paints takes so long to fully cure, I only have one shower and I’d like not to go w/o a shower for days

Get some Ekopel tub refinisher. No smell and done in one hour. Cured in 24 hours.

other than a slight color difference with the wall tile it turned out great. After 2 months no issues - whew! I saw some other people mentioning peeling but I wonder how long they waited before using the tub. I allowed mine to dry over a week.

My shower started to peel a year or two later. Now I'm researching how to prep it again for a refinishing job.

Decent video for a DIYer, but I’m about to apply this using a HVLP sprayer and I didn’t find anything in this video about clean up. Sure you don’t have to clean a cheap roller but the pros spray this stuff on.
