STALKER 2??? Sure it’s got a little jank, but goddamn, one of the most atmospheric, immersive and greatest sounding games I’ve ever played. The absolute greatest abandoned building porn exploration game. Also, compared to most open world FPS games (cough Fallout), it’s got actually solid gunplay. This and Silent Hill 2 remake were my games of the year.
I'm almost done with Indiana Jones and spent some time talking Fallout 3 with my brother this week. You just convinced me to give Stalker 2 a try next!
I think overall the Stalker games have been more of an European taste. I used to feel frustrated at American game media (and gameinformer) that they never truly appreciated the stalker series, but I've made peace with it, so no surprise in Minnmax giving it a pass.
This discussion was so fun to listen to. Of course I disagreed with something at some point! That's the point! You all have great rapport, though, and make disagreements entertaining without venom.
damn you guys did wukong dirty. Game has more depth than people say. Combat is simple but has some layers put on it to make it serviceable but the levels actually are not linear and have a lot of branching paths and cool things to explore. The cut scenes and cartoons in between levels is pretty sweet too
1. FFVII Rebirth 2. Astro Bot 3. Kunitsu-Gami 4. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 5. Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero Predictable Rebirth hate aside, it's nuts that stuff like Space Marine, Romancing Saga 2 Remake, and Sparking Zero didn't even make their list of 116 games. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (would not normally do remasters but this is just one of the best games ever made) 3. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes 4. Mouthwashing 5. Emio: The Smiling Man - Famicom Detective Club 6. 1000xRESIST 7. Super Mario Party Jamboree 8. Animal Well 9. Dragonball Sparking Zero 10. Mario and Luigi: Brothership
Fallen Leaf is the best game that you didn't hear about this year. A lot like Mega Man with a ton of collectibles and a greatly funny story with very memorable characters. Great on Steam Deck.
Lorelei has been on my wishlist for a while. Jeff saying the makes you learn how to spell her name convinced me to buy it. Sounds like a puzzle game that draws from memory. I hope it's fun.
Wish one of you really got into the mysteries of animal well, such an interesting experience I haven't had in a game before, completely understand why though

Not my GOTY, but def in my top 10-20. I came to the comments to see if it was just me that thought it’s strange to not be mentioned. It’s a pretty great game!
Every game I liked this year was at least mentioned so I’ll take this as a win
I'm the one who timestamped the comment Ben is talking about at 21:07! Jacob if you see this don't think you can ever slip around me, I got my eye on you
This is not the list i would make , therefore it’s wrong, they are wrong and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves ( im a patreon supporter so my opinion is valid ) thank you ☺️
STALKER 2??? Sure it’s got a little jank, but goddamn, one of the most atmospheric, immersive and greatest sounding games I’ve ever played. The absolute greatest abandoned building porn exploration game. Also, compared to most open world FPS games (cough Fallout), it’s got actually solid gunplay. This and Silent Hill 2 remake were my games of the year.
I'm almost done with Indiana Jones and spent some time talking Fallout 3 with my brother this week. You just convinced me to give Stalker 2 a try next!
I didn't care for the STALKER games when they came out on Xbox earlier this year. But I like STALKER 2 a ton. It rocks.
I think overall the Stalker games have been more of an European taste.
I used to feel frustrated at American game media (and gameinformer) that they never truly appreciated the stalker series, but I've made peace with it, so no surprise in Minnmax giving it a pass.
Next year. After more updates.
The cut scenes and cartoons in between levels is pretty sweet too
BE GOOD. HAVE FUN. LETS GO!!!!
love that Momo is here watching from the start.

I apreciate Sarah going to bat for the Indie Horror Game scene.
1. FFVII Rebirth
2. Astro Bot
3. Kunitsu-Gami
4. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2
5. Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero
Predictable Rebirth hate aside, it's nuts that stuff like Space Marine, Romancing Saga 2 Remake, and Sparking Zero didn't even make their list of 116 games. Shout out to Sand Land as well, which is low on my list, but I still had fun with and played to completion.
Wow, no Dragon Age Veilguard, No Rise of the Ronin, and no Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2. All which were great games in my top 10. (Also I'm someone who played through and couldn't stand Metaphor Refantazio, and I loved Persona 5.)
My top 10 would be
1. Balatro
2. Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth
3. Dragon Age The Veilguard
4. Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader (December 2023 release & got dlc this year)
5. Indiana Jones and the Lost Circle
6. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
7. Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2
8. Stellar Blade
9. Rise of the Ronin
10. Tekken 8
11. Persona 3 Reload
12. Outcast 2
13. Granblue Fantasy Relink
14. Unknown 9 Awakening
15. Dragon's Dogma 2
Haven't played Black Myth Wukong,Eyuridan Chronicles,or Romancing Saga 2 ,or Flintlock yet, though i do own them digitally, so i can't comment on how good or bad they are. I don't know what it means that 8 of the games i wrote, didn't even make the lisf of over 100 games, and most of them, sans Outcast 2, were pretty well know,
Rogue Trader so good. Good time for 40K.
Hail Big E. Right, Kyle?
1. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
(huge gap)
2. Astro Bot
3. Balatro
4. Indiana Jones
5. LaD: Infinite Wealth
6. Max Mustard
7. Thank Goodness You're Here
8. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
9. Metaphor
10. Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Rebirth did nothing for me. Wanted to like it couldn’t get into it bad performance at launch sure didn’t help.
(huge gap)... yeah right. Astro Bot > most trash that came out this year.
@@storyoptics4964 Not sure why you try to fix my personal list. I wrote what I wrote.
if you loved max mustard that much, i can't recommend enough craigslisting/marketplacing a PSVR1 for $20 and picking up astro bot: rescue mission
@@storyoptics4964 why you gotta be that way- its his own list
We needed this!!!!
The best way to end the holiday season!
Man, sad to see the lack of love for Echoes of Wisdom this year. I do get the complaints though.
My personal Top 10:
1. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
2. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (would not normally do remasters but this is just one of the best games ever made)
3. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes
4. Mouthwashing
5. Emio: The Smiling Man - Famicom Detective Club
6. 1000xRESIST
7. Super Mario Party Jamboree
8. Animal Well
9. Dragonball Sparking Zero
10. Mario and Luigi: Brothership
♪ Its the most important discussion of the year, servin it up, MinnMax tier. Bop! ♪
Fallen Leaf is the best game that you didn't hear about this year. A lot like Mega Man with a ton of collectibles and a greatly funny story with very memorable characters. Great on Steam Deck.
Thanks for the vid
Lorelei has been on my wishlist for a while. Jeff saying the makes you learn how to spell her name convinced me to buy it. Sounds like a puzzle game that draws from memory. I hope it's fun.
Wish one of you really got into the mysteries of animal well, such an interesting experience I haven't had in a game before, completely understand why though
It hurts when your number one doesn't make the two tens. Shadow of the Erdtree deserves better.
the critique of Minishoot’ being very solid but nothing standing out is also largely applicable to Astrobot. It will be interesting to see where that l conversation goes. Keep up the great work MinnMax.
Astrobot stands out PLENTY
@ Astrobot is an awesome game; but the arguments they used against Minishoot’ are largely valid against Astrobot as well.

i'm always extremely slow to catch up with things so i don't think i even played 10 games from this year that I liked enough to mention, but i have a top 6! fwiw i'm playing kunitsu gami right now, started it tonight and it's absolutely incredible in that "man, i wish more games like this were being made at this level" kinda way.
1) Balatro (duh)
2) Alan Wake 2 The Lake House + Night Springs
3) Astro Bot
4) Still Wakes the Deep
5) Animal Well (honestly if i'd played more this year i think this woulda been lower, i had a lotta issues but the overall vibe and discovery was consistently awesome)
6) Thank Goodness You're Here (RIP!)
"Thank Goodness You're Gone Now," looooooooool
Thank you :) This is a nice tradition every year
Banishers not even there is a crime to all thats good in games. Jk but not really….
all 116 games can be seen at 2:27:25
Sonix X Shadow Generations mentioned
justice for Nine Sols. GOTY
i don't really play a lot of games
heres my little top for 2024:
Silent Hill 2 remake
Space Marine 2
and finally Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree 👌
might as well do the Three Tens next year
Pacific Drive was my number 1 this year so I was rooting for it the whole time
“I’m feeling the ramp pretty hard, especially when the Nazis show up in a legitimate way.”
-Kyle, 2024
For my own sanity I'll be skipping through their dunking on Rebirth for the Two Tens.
I skipped that and the "I played 2 hours of Indiana Jones and it wasn't a masterpiece" nonsense.
1. Balatro
2. Shadow of the Erdtree
3. UFO 50
4. Persona 3: Reload
5. Tekken 8
I only played 6 games and I don't want Pokemon TCG Pocket on my top 10.
I'm watching, and got to 116 so far, and my top two gaming experiences (outside of FF7 Rebirth) haven't been listed yet. Hades 2 and The War Within. So sadge.
Defending live service gacha is certainly a take >.>
Haha Janet is confidently incorrect about Indiana Jones
