Data Mining of Author publications from Google Scholar and Institutional Repositories (IRs) in the Higher Education Institutions in Zambia
    Speaker
    Matildah Muchinga [2]
    Abstract
Zambia has experienced a consistent rise in the number of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). However, despite the growth in registered HEIs and the enrollment of postgraduate students, the visibility of scholarly research output online remains notably low in the country (Phiri, 2018). Despite significant research efforts, there exists a noticeable gap between the content available in the Institutional Repositories (IRs) of HEIs in Zambia and the information displayed on the Google Scholar profiles of academic staff and researchers. This presentation aims to discuss various techniques for extracting author publications from Google Scholar and Institutional Repositories using tools like Publish or Perish, the Open Archive Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvester (OAI-PMH), and Octoparse, a web data extraction tool employed to extract data from the IRs.
