+Moonlight of the Wild I think Kokichi was being sarcastic. I might be wrong, but I didn't really get the impression the two get along all that much.
For one, Kokichi calls her a "rude blonde bitch" the second he enters the conversation, and then compares her to Miu, of all people (another person he can't stand).
Also, it almost looked like Kokichi stepped in to sort of defend Gonta from her; the only thing he said to him was "good morning," and then immediately went on to focus on Junko without really doing anything more to Gonta, aside from confusing him a little after pretty much admitting he knows Junko has Mukuro disguise as her at the school, and Junko who just rolls with it.
He didn't seem to like Junko taking his "it's a lie!" catchphrase, either, so it makes me think Junko did it intentionally just to irritate him.
Idk I like the idea of Kokichi is "besties" with Junko. Both personality is sassy, and I can totally see them hang out and trashtalk another other people lmao. But ofc him being rival with Junko is more realistic, I guess their relationship could be Frienemies

I think the interactions between Kokichi and the cast in 1 & 2 are far more interesting than the one in v3. I know he's taken on the role of Nagito in v3 where no one seems to understand him. But at least Chiaki and Hajime got a bit closer and had some understanding of Nagito than the rest of the casts. In v3, no one really knows what Kokichi in terms of his plans or motivations and everything could just render as a lie for the sake of it. I really want to like him more in v3 and I don't think he's a bad character, I just want more dynamics happened amongst the casts and balanced it out a bit. I think Kiyo could be able to do it but I don't think that happened...
I agree so much with this. I really like Kokichi, but the game didn't really do him justice. Komaeda's arc was really satisfying and the other characters were constantly doubting his intentions, and by the end his motivations were clear to everyone.
With Kokichi, the other characters just constantly disregard him and don't even try to understand him. And even at the end nobody really knows why he did all that shit, it's not even entirely clear to the player.
To me, I kinda have to see Kokichi as .. well, how Gundham put it. The clown prince of lies, right? So like the Joker, in a way.. I don't know too much about either characters, but it seems like they lie for the sake of lying. They find it fun, lies are easier to accept than the truth after all, and they can be molded like putty. Endless possibilities! They also seem to use it as a form of attention-grabbing. The old Joker wasn't as cruel, he was like Kokichi (at least in his motive video). Pulling harmless pranks (joker didnt kill people in the old days, or am i mistaken?) just to annoy someone as a means of getting the attention they want. So.. it seems like Kokichi uses his wicked ways just to get attention, which can be interpreted as being lonely or even annoyed with themselves. But, I honestly can't tell. He's a very complex character. Anyways, during the.. killing game, Kokichi seemed to go over the top with his lies. I think, if he wasnt in that situation, and in another (like this video) where he could be trusted more easily, people would have given him a chance and tried to get him to open up.
I like these discussions! Yeah, I agree Kokichi's a complex and interesting character, and I like how he stirred things up. It’s just that we’re never given enough hints to guess whether he’s telling the truth or not, and were just being revealed everything. After all, it’s a mystery solving game!
I do blame the writing for this. It seems to me that the game has gone too plot-driven that it made itself more surprising but less satisfying to play, just like +DI Gumtree said. In DR2, Nagito’s motive is partially clear and the big reveal at the end fleshes him out even more. But in v3, you never quite understand what Kokichi thinks until the truth is revealed. [treading into spoilers] And he isn't all that harmless that the developers want us to think of him at the end, otherwise he wouldn’t set someone up like that in case 4. And he isn't smart enough, IMO, but surely is the biggest troll which lives up to this title.
This doesn't alter the fact of the bitter taste I felt for having to understand him after game rather than in-game, and there are still so many things unresolved. My biggest problem with v3 is that the truth vs lie element has gone too far, and that the gameplay and characters really suffer.

So, what I got from this is: Keebo has some form of respect for Kokichi(somehow), Kokichi is best friends with Junko(which makes him the only guy to actually like the REAL Junko), he is rivaled by Kirigiri, he is friends(?) with Celeste, and can easily be shipped with either Junko or Celeste. Everything I learn about you just cements you even further as the best Danganronpa character ever. And we still don't know squat about his actual backstory.

Celeste: Most of the time she acts like a cold, but logical person that seems reliable. Until she stabs you in the back which you never see coming.
Kokichi: It takes every single ounce of your willpower and *then* some to not just fucking beat him until he stops moving. And the fact that absolutely no one in all of danganronpa can manipulate people like he does. Not Celeste, not Nagito and not even Junko herself.

Was it just me, or was Kokichi nicer to the SDR2 and DR1 cast than his own class? I mean...it makes sense since he wasn't treated like utter trash straight off the bat, but you can see the teasing with the other cast members are MUCH more toned down than his own class. He was even nice to Mikan, who is very sensitive, which I found so nice. Even Nagito, who is outcasted by his own classmates
i think it’s cause the v3 cast is extremely harsh towards him, and they treat him like literal shit. but in this one, it seems as if he actually enjoys being in the other classes. he’s on good terms on a lot of them, much more then he was on his own class. seems like he just towns down his well, kokichi-ness with people he’s closer to

EDIT: I was wrong. In Hiyoko's and Mikan's development plan there are actually 2 events where Mikan and Kokichi are together. She caught Kokichi's lie but didn't get angry. I guess he was the closest to him. I also ship Kokichi and Mikan a bit.
I loved how nice he was to Mikan. He got along well with the 'outcasted' people in school (Mikan, Nagito, Celeste, etc.) and it shows that he is capable of being sweet
