1080 was a graphical masterpiece when launched and those cloth physics still look awesome as do the effects, nothing came close on any other platform. Still the most realistic take on snowboarding.
The graphics of this game blew me away when I was a little kid. I was at Toys R Us and they had this game on a demo kiosk and I loved it so much that I bought it that very day. I played the crap out of this game.
This was a brilliant game. I took this into work when I was there between Christmas and New Year and played all day with the security guards. The best feature for two player was allowing ther player in second pace to have extra speed. It always led to nailbiting finishes - I think that's what we enjoy most, rather than winning by miles.
This is one of my favorite games of all time, and Avalanche was just as good in my opinion. I just wish Nintendo did more with this series. With the new SSX out, I think we could see more snowboarding games and a new 1080 could make a great alternative to SSX.
You mean, the names of the course? Well, I go through more than one... and they are named right before a race. The first one is Crystal Lake, if that's what you wanted to know.
I don't know if they explain it in the manual (got mine used), but it sure isn't intuitive! Basically, you release "Z" while in the air and then press it just before landing.
Still the most realistic snowboarding game out their. Really - the physics in this game are amazing, even the cloth physics - probably the only game in its generation of consoles to contain it.
I love this game. One of the best ever on N64. It took me some time to learn to do the 1080º but once you master it is really easy. Also there are three new characters to unlock (silver, gold and a bear who never falls down)
@WhiteKhakis Ah same. It was such a rush trying to get to that first drop off point before she was singing those highs. Man I miss being a kid. 1080 Avalanche was a great sequel, I wish the series were more popular so that another could be made for the Wii.
Mighty kind of you to offer, but if I were to buy one used I'd like to get ahold of it first and check it out before committing to a purchase. Guess I'm stuck with garage sales, huh?
I was playing the new SSX and kinda started feeling nostalgic about this stuff...this, MTV Snowboarding, Cool Boarders...fuck me, those were good times
I'm not sure if I could trust a used N64 controller off of Ebay, unless they ACTUALLY sell new ones there. I'd need a place that has a money-back guarantee for used controllers (which I don't want to really risk a purchase on in the first place.) These controllers often seem great at first glance, but when you sit down with them they may not hold up.
Oh wow when I was like 8 I played this whenever I had the chance because back then of course my mom would set time limits on the t.v. haha but this brings back great memories!
i used to be the metalic rob haywood with the penguin board... loved this game, was like the only decent snowboarding game, until ssx and amped... but i had way more fun on this game
The main thing I remember is that you want to land with the slope. The orientation of your board is very, very finicky and it needs to be *just* right. I forget whether it's more forgiving if you tilt further back or forward, though... It takes a little practice and a light touch though.
about the controller, if your stick is broken you can buy replacements in ebay that are really easy to change just open the controller then remove the screws and connector from the stick, put the new one and done
lol don't forget to press double Z before hitting the ground. I can't believe this is expert level, but then again I remember me being a monster in this game cuz I only had like 5 games on my N64 and I played the crap out of them
When the song started I would, I would always try to race it and be in the air/on the ground when she starts doing the long parts of the song (1:23). I made it..most of the time.
i work at a elementary/middle school and my boss gave me permission to bring my nintendo 64 for the kids in after care to play... I cant wait to show them how we had fun back when i was there age
Check your local game stores... there must be at least one that works with vintage items. An official Nintendo controller with a tight analog stick will run you around $25 if the seller knows their value, but it's well worth the price for a like new N64 controller. :)
Just wish they made games like they used to eh. now-a-days i feel they make the games with too much realism and not enough gameplay. i mean who cares about the graphics as long as they're fun and keep you playing it. TOP FAVS extreme g 2, goldeneye, diddy kong racing, bomberman 64, doom, totaled, SSB, top gear rally, 1080 snowboearding, (maybe some turok), wave racer, any F-zero games, banjo kazooie (and tooie), star fox 64, pokemon stadium 1-2, ALL TIME FAVORITE BEETLE ADVENTURE RACING
1080 was a graphical masterpiece when launched and those cloth physics still look awesome as do the effects, nothing came close on any other platform. Still the most realistic take on snowboarding.
Jason Scarpace obviously never played Marc mcmorris infinite air or ssx lolol this is garbage but good em memories
STEEP!!!!
@@daevid21 YOU DARE TALK ABOUT MY BABY 1080 LIKE THAT?!
Work ya body work work ya body
WORKYABADI WORKABADI
PUSH IT OUT

“1080!” *Gets instantly consumed by nostalgia*
I like timing things to the music in games when I get the chance - must've taken a bit of practice to figure out how to get that just right!
Every time I see 1080 degrees in geometry class, I say "TEN EIGHTY" in that booming voice.
Let's be honest we were all looking forward to one thing:
GOLDEN FOREST
Thanks. It's a little tricky to figure out the "right" way to control these boarders. You'll get it in time!
This was a brilliant game. I took this into work when I was there between Christmas and New Year and played all day with the security guards. The best feature for two player was allowing ther player in second pace to have extra speed. It always led to nailbiting finishes - I think that's what we enjoy most, rather than winning by miles.
Yup.
I remember Nintendo issuing a Warning somewhere about playing those games. Also, some stores sold gloves alongside it.
It was a pretty big deal when it first came out, and it still plays alright. It's just a bit counterintuitive when it comes to landing jumps, is all.
the controls on this game were sweet.when you landed correctly by pressing the trigger was pure nintendo genius.
The song is called Golden Forest.
Oh man I used to adore this game as a kid
I don't know if they explain it in the manual (got mine used), but it sure isn't intuitive!
Basically, you release "Z" while in the air and then press it just before landing.
holy cow blast from the past , loved this game when i was like 6, i sucked so bad but i loved it
I thought it was a pretty neat means of control, however, it would be kind of nice if they at least hinted at it somewhere in-game.
God, This brings me back...
Looks like I won it in the end, that was the goal, aye? Never claimed to be perfect at this game.
Yeah, something like a character reskinned as gold, and another as silver. I haven't tried unlocking them as of yet.
Still the most realistic snowboarding game out their. Really - the physics in this game are amazing, even the cloth physics - probably the only game in its generation of consoles to contain it.
What a Brilliant game!! i still remembered what the Characters were gonna say on the selection bit before it got to them!:D
I love this game. One of the best ever on N64. It took me some time to learn to do the 1080º but once you master it is really easy.
Also there are three new characters to unlock (silver, gold and a bear who never falls down)
And this game had very realistic physics
Oh the things time does.
Hard to believe i once thought this game was gorgeous.
it still is fam
Obviously technology has come a long way over the last decade but this game holds up a lot better than many other entries from the era.
I love old racing games. This, Sled Storm, F-Zero X, Excite Bike 64, and Supercross 2000 were awesome! Even ATV Quad Power Racing 2.
to be honest this game is a gem, brings back so much memories :)
High as fuck...5am and randomly thought of this game. Sooo many damn memories
Boy, this takes me back to the good 'ol days.
This video made me so happy. Great game, I still have it.
@WhiteKhakis more too, like a giant panda, penguin skateboard - quite a few secrets hidden away.
you da best i've seen play this game. i barely got past the second track. i needed my big brother to do dat. good job anyway.!!!!!
1080 avalanche was such an improvement. And an amazing one at that
"Work your bod-eh, w-work your body!"
Dion blaster : YO
Brings back the memories,
name of this track ?
How Snow has evolved since then
That'd be an issue, yeah.
@WhiteKhakis Wasn't there also a code for a penguin board. Remember unlocking it.
None of the Playstation snowboarding simulations approach this game in terms of graphical detail, or smoothness of animation.
@WhiteKhakis Ah same. It was such a rush trying to get to that first drop off point before she was singing those highs. Man I miss being a kid. 1080 Avalanche was a great sequel, I wish the series were more popular so that another could be made for the Wii.
1:23 LOL it use to trip me out ever time the chick would hit that high note in that song.
I'm pretty sure all the music in this game was written exclusively for it - nothing licensed.
First game I got with my N64 when I got the console back in the day. Good times. Still looks like fun.
I used to play it in 2007 2008 and i can say the player is pretty pro. Omg i felt nostalgic nd now im here
Mighty kind of you to offer, but if I were to buy one used I'd like to get ahold of it first and check it out before committing to a purchase.
Guess I'm stuck with garage sales, huh?
I had a friend that was a great snowboarder when I was young. And man did I love schooling him in this.
this was my game back in the day
Yeah, phew!
He must've slowed WAY down to avoid bailing.
I was playing the new SSX and kinda started feeling nostalgic about this stuff...this, MTV Snowboarding, Cool Boarders...fuck me, those were good times
Senza ombra di dubbio il miglior gioco di snowboard mai creato.
^______^
12 years later... feels like yesterday weird eh?
I love the grunting sounds they make when they hit stuff 🤣
Mi primera consola, y mi primer juego, aun los conservo de recuerdo!
This game still looks good. Best snowboard game for sure
if the N64 counted how many hours you put into games back then..i would have hated to see how many I racked up for this game.
Ekaj Gaint / hahah same
I think this was probably my favourite game on the n64.
I'm not sure if I could trust a used N64 controller off of Ebay, unless they ACTUALLY sell new ones there.

One of the greatest games ever made!!!!!!!!
i used to be the metalic rob haywood with the penguin board... loved this game, was like the only decent snowboarding game, until ssx and amped... but i had way more fun on this game
this reminds me of big mouton 2000. its it by the same people?
I miss this game haha. After school strait to this game an turok jurassic park too
I'll think about it, thanks.
Heh, that's a little out of my way, but thanks for the idea!
i was addicted to this game. ahh . 1998? thaught it was earlier
@WhiteKhakis there are the pinguin board too
i just love the physic engine of this game (1:21) awesome
How do you land without wiping out... ? It seems like every time I get serious air I can't land without bitting the dust...
The main thing I remember is that you want to land with the slope. The orientation of your board is very, very finicky and it needs to be *just* right. I forget whether it's more forgiving if you tilt further back or forward, though... It takes a little practice and a light touch though.
WhiteKhakis ... Thanks for the tip... I'll keep trying...
+funkyflights or just hit the Z button right before landing ;) ....
No Di .... Thanks for the tip !
+funkyflights Hey man , no biggie :)
bring back memories
Dammit, you beat me to my suggestion! XD
I always thought she sings "There goes the fool!" Anyone know what she really says?
Love this game but hate trying to land jumps
The memories on this so much funnnnnnn
We need to appreciate Golden Forest.
about the controller, if your stick is broken you can buy replacements in ebay that are really easy to change
just open the controller
then remove the screws and connector from the stick,

I've spent way too many hours playing this game for one lifetime... I really want to play it again, now... FML. Goodbye social life.
When the song started I would, I would always try to race it and be in the air/on the ground when she starts doing the long parts of the song (1:23). I made it..most of the time.
No penguin board?
Never played "Mario Party", huh?
i work at a elementary/middle school and my boss gave me permission to bring my nintendo 64 for the kids in after care to play... I cant wait to show them how we had fun back when i was there age
This game looks so amazing!! :)
That was a really good game in his time,i love it :p
