@@terryhollands I understand that a person can't be training all year long, they will burn themselves out and or cause themselves to get injured. No one wants to see any of these amazing men get injured. Maybe he is just keeping things under wraps and he will blow our minds again this upcoming year. I sure hope so. I was watching a video that Loz and Liz put out about the dead lift record and the prize money for it. Do you see anyone breaking 501kg?
I don't like Hooper, but I think he'll probably win the 4 majors. Mateusz is my favorite strongman but in his interview with Liz, he sounds like he's not confident at all in his behind the neck press, has no power in his leg that he tore his achilles for the Timber Carry, and as usual will lose deadlift points. At this point, I doubt Mateusz will ever win a big show, even though I still hope he wins one eventually. Poor guy has had the worst luck. When Mateusz, Novikov, and Licis don't compete, Hooper has a pretty unobstructed view of the win for every big comp. We'll see how Thor's pressing recovers.
I can't belive you didnt mention pick up number one which is Mateusz Kieliszkowski. He literally beat all the guys U mentioned. I get it that he is after injury and have weak deadlift but that didnt stop him in 2024 to get second in Arnold and beat all dudes U mentioned. Its insult that U didnt mention him.
@@mateuszgawlik5528 it’s purely based on his run of injuries. It’s not an insult at all! Aside from Thor all the other guys I mentioned are still progressing. @terryhollands He already proved that injuries are not problem for him. He got second on 2024 Arnold after injury, recently he won some competition in Island. It wasn't any high level but he literally still in rehab and wasn't even in his prime shape and still won. So so far he showed that injuries are not stopping him. So Ur argument about injuries imo it's not valid. Dude I'm not offended, I think its just insult to the sport not mentioning someone like him but mention guys that he can beat no problem that's all. The other guys I named are all on the up, mateusz is very good but imo can’t challenge Mitch mainly because even if he wins every other event he loses too many points on the deadlift. the guys I believe can improve enough to get there. Novikov has won wsm and I didn’t include him either for the exact same reasons as mateusz! Don’t see a load of Ukrainians crying that I didn’t mention oleksi, just you doing that.
If you could get Evan to take technique seriously, be a bit more cerebral about winning rather than just pure aggression and stop sand-bagging squats, I think he could win anything. Biby probably has the most potential of anyone but he seems like such a nice guy, I just don't think he has that competitive spirit. I think he's happier doing the odd single event. Lucas Hatton probably won't challenge the top 3 too often. Most of the time he'll be vying with Evan and Trey for 4th/5th. At the heaviest shows though and with the right events, he can podium.
Another good video I'm a big fan of Luke Richardson and you have to feel for him injury after injury he has all the potential. Now where I differ is your views on Thor on WSM in 2016 and 17 he showed a lack of class and respect to Shaw then 17 Hall then after he wins 18 he talks about corruption etc but this year he seems more humble in his comps then I saw that interview of Shaw and Thor and Thor hasn't changed he still thinks its corrupt so if any apologies are required it's from him to Bryce not Colin apologizing also on the same topic of that interview i was disappointed to see Shaw's true colours another complaining of corruption and bitching and moaning cause he had to do a stone off before the final well that's his fault for not winning his group he just comes across as bitter cause he never got WSM 5 title so he changed his comp name to strongest man on earth won his comp with events all favouring him and was training on such equipment which others may not have access. Both of them are brilliant strongmen no doubt but have really showed a lack of class in my opinion.
@@user-my2se7sn3s you have to remember the guys are human! They can have opinions and doesn’t mean they’re bad people. Brian may feel there’s some corruption (I don’t agree) so he put his money where his mouth is and put on a big show. We don’t all have to agree but both Brian and Thor are decent guys.
@terryhollands I'm not saying bad people as I dont know them as well as yourself but from a viewers stance and this may be just my opinion it's not being a good sportsperson and I believe if Thor is still in the opinion of corruption in WSM then the comp is better off without it sends a bad message to other young athletes and as for strongest man on earth I think it's great getting more money to the athletes WSM has a long long way to go in that respect but I dont think it's just about the money I think Shaw is bitter towards WSM and wants them fazed out. @ Terry, I respect everything you’ve done in the sport however, if I were to select one thing that caused me to make that comment I would say it was the audio of Luke Stoltman that was leaked where he described how in exchange for competing on retainer at giants live shows him and his brother were offered favorable events at world’s strongest man. That audio is still on RUclips and it’s a factual matter. @ they don’t refuse to do that, their hands are tied for another couple of years. When the contract was signed wsm nearly lost all tv, the deal was done to guarantee wsm stays on tv for 50 years. The wsm team would live stream it tomorrow if they could. I will say, the viewing figures of rogue are currently sitting at less than wsm gets for 1 show just in the uk. There are an insane amount more views of wsm than any other show so without that our sport wouldn’t be close in popularity as it is. The whole Luke Stoltman recorded phone call I could go into detail about but don’t want to throw anyone under the bus, it’s not as sinister as a few seem to think. Lots of guys get retainers and appearance fees for shows if they’re popular or essentially put bums on seats, also if you do an official qualifier for a contest it’s a given that you will get a better group seeding for the contest you’re trying to qualify for, all sports work this way
@ so the vip tent where guys came in after every event to meet and greet and do a chat with fans, guys came on the stage by the big screen after every event to chat with the fans and do a w and a and bleacher seating doesn’t make it more immersive?
@@terryhollands that is an immersive experience but I just feel like that competition is not promoted as it should be and the athletes are paid less than world level armwrestling athletes and given the audience and stats of WSM you'd think they could at least pay more than other shows or armwrestling events. @@douglasnisbet1189 I’d have to go back and watch it to see the scores. I know they tied on axle and keg toss, Mitch beat Tom by 1 place on Conans, Tom bear much by a few spots on stones. You could argue deadlift is effected by tearing hands but with straps (I’ve done it) it doesn’t really make a difference, I think tom still wins tbh
Thor improves his pressing to his 2018 levels he wins WSM. Mateusz Kielieskowski is also a threat if he's at his best, he's a machine and can still make up lost points on the deadlift
@@markovasil1608 I just feel mateusz would have to win every event to stand a chance but definitely a podium possibility. Thor could definitely win if he can be mid table or higher on pressing event
I'll beat mitch in 2065. I mean, neither of us will be at wsm but i swear ill be able to beat him in 40 years
I hope that Hooper has been doing hard work and has just decided to not put it out on social media. He is active on RUclips but putting out non strongman videos rather than the workout videos that he use to. Lots of athletes have changed their training programs. He could be in a lot of trouble and have to work so much harder this year.
@@TheSledge77 doing a hypertrophy block to build some muscle and recover is a smart way to go! Hit an 8 week strength block with peak on the end with a higher capacity to get stronger due to greater muscle size is pretty common place. You can’t be flat out strength training all year round
Your right thor could win wsm
I can't belive you didnt mention pick up number one which is Mateusz Kieliszkowski. He literally beat all the guys U mentioned. I get it that he is after injury and have weak deadlift but that didnt stop him in 2024 to get second in Arnold and beat all dudes U mentioned. Its insult that U didnt mention him.
@@mateuszgawlik5528 it’s purely based on his run of injuries. It’s not an insult at all! Aside from Thor all the other guys I mentioned are still progressing. We are yet to see if mateusz can get back to being as good as he once was! I hope he can and proves he can challenge. Stop getting offended! I’ve not said anything bad about anyone! Get your oestrogen in check
Ur comments about estrogen level, weak shot. I have enough of my own testosterone and don't need to supply one from outside like U buddy.
@ it’s not a weak shot! You’re getting offended like a teenage girl about something that’s not even there! Yes he won in Iceland and as you said the standard wasn’t highest! I have nothing but respect for mateusz and he knows that! I just don’t think he’s one of the guys that can challenge hooper!
@ an insult to the sport hahahahahaha, you can’t make this shit up
If you could get Evan to take technique seriously, be a bit more cerebral about winning rather than just pure aggression and stop sand-bagging squats, I think he could win anything.
@@timbeech2056 I agree to an extent with Evan! He was brilliant at wsm, calm and focused and it paid off for him.
Thor I’ve seen a few times since his comeback and he’s super chilled these days and seems more about enjoying it than anything.
But anyway the future is looking bright some good young athletes coming up looking forward to this year and to see if anyone can knock Hooper down a peg or 2 and I think he wants that he wants the challenge so here's hoping they all step up this year.
@@user-my2se7sn3s wsm is the biggest payout of the strongman contests, it’s just split among more athletes. Only one person can win! Everyone at wsm even down to last in group gets paid. The kudos of winning wsm in terms of sponsorship and appearances is way beyond the others at the moment as well
@terryhollands I thought the winner didn't get as much as at Rogue, SMOE, Arnold's my mistake
@ you’re right, the winner gets more! I’m talking about total prize money. Rogue and Arnold only have 10 guys, smoe pays really well top to bottom and has 16 athletes. The prize money at wsm is going up this year
Evan over Mitch? Are you drunk
@@brady67123 did I say that? Did you even watch the video?
@@brady67123 I will add he is one of very few that have beaten him in recent times
Thor is bigger than WSM and doesn’t need that organization to cement his legacy. I’m sick of WSM being considered the premier show when it is just one of the many. The organization ignores the fan base and they will never make a dime from me
@@goldilox811 it it’s not just one of many! It’s the Olympics of our sport! How do they ignore the fan base? If you say live stream I will scream! Contracts can’t be broken, it’s not they don’t want to live stream it’s they have to see out a very long tv contract, aside from that please enlighten me
@ Terry, I respect everything you’ve done in the sport however, if I were to select one thing that caused me to make that comment I would say it was the audio of Luke Stoltman that was leaked where he described how in exchange for competing on retainer at giants live shows him and his brother were offered favorable events at world’s strongest man. That audio is still on RUclips and it’s a factual matter. Not to mention the no live stream yes, I understand the contracts, but other smaller organizations have made it clear that it’s possible to do a live stream or a pay-per-view system and they continually refuse to do that or innovate whatsoever 2024 world strongest man was literally rubber mats set up on a beach with no other effort put into create an immersive environment I could keep going honestly
No show is spared from criticism
I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention the work Mitch has been doing over the winter. He's been putting the effort in and will be coming into 2025 better than he was before.
@@SomeRUclipsGuy why surprised? I thought it was a given? I wouldn’t expect him not to be working hard
You are nuts wsm it's only Tom Evan thor doesn't do wsm
@@jlalonde1000 I’m not sure what you’re talking about? Tom Evan’s has been at wsm last couple of years. I dunno if you’re getting confused. I said Arnold’s and rogue don’t have all the best guys there! There are guys at those shows that’s can’t crack top 10 at wsm, not the other way around
Well Tom whooped him at the WSM
Mitch won every other comp
@@goldilox811and? Wsm is strongmans version of bodybuildings Mr. Olympia, or a gold medal at the Olympics. It's the only title a strongman can monitize forever
I hope he dont win everything its boring watching strongman with same winner
Anyone can challenge him. He isn’t that good. It’s not real strongman in today’s era. It’s a hybrid of what strongman really is. There are plenty of beasts out there who would destroy him. Unfortunately the sport has evolved into half static movements and half cardio movements and I don’t believe that’s genuine strongman. He is a phony. Terrible ambassador for the sport.
@@Lineman22705 I’d tend to disagree! He wins the static events mostly and strongman has always had moving events! I wouldn’t consider them cardio events personally. I think the weights now are up there with as heavy as they’ve ever been
@ I don’t know. When I think of Zydrunas, and Mariusz and Shaw in his prime……..he doesn’t even come close competing back then. I understand the sport has evolved and it’s naturally changing……but, in my opinion, the events are lighter and geared more towards endurance rather than brute strength. And I will also admit…….i don’t like him. His personality and arrogance bother me. I appreciate your feedback though…….you are a legend!! Love your content.
@ you don’t have to like everyone! I’d agree with heavy weights Brian and z would be great to see but the mariusz era (obviously I was a part of that too) the weights were light. I actually used to moan about this myself! I knew my top end strength was higher than mariusz but conditioning wise and speed with lighter weights he used to beat me comfortably. A 320 deadlift he’d beat me all day, if it’d have been 400 for reps he wouldn’t have got close to me. Hooper I’d argue has it all unfortunately
