Excellent share. I did this today and my Bona is back up and running. I just sprayed in the top portion like you mentioned without taking the whole thing apart. I used the straw that attaches to the WD can to get deeper into the stem. It took a few pulls and minutes for all the spray to settle but eventually it got spraying properly. It's nice to see that gorgeous bona finish again. :)
Great! Thanks, I initially took the handle mechanism apart, no bueno, or should I say, “no bona”. Thought I’d save myself some headache and see if anyone else has dug into this thing. You guys saved the day. Thanks for publishing this for everyone.🙏
Thanks very much for the instructions! Worked like a charm. I purchased several bottles of the floor care products and really did not want to have to invest in another mop when this one failed after very little use.. Your video was packed with everything I needed to know for success in repairing the Bona mop.
Ron, good video. It helped me to get to the point where I realized the top of the last cleaning solution was stuck in there preventing me from putting a new one in. Thanks!
Excellent video. Saved me $50 for a new one. The white bottle cap was stuck inside the unit. WD 40, awesome product! A spray, pulled the cap out, Vaseline the o ring. WA LA spray is super!!! Thanks
excellent demo and explanations, I love the lil one and the pup chiming in. thanks for the tip w the vaseline and advice when taking it apart to make sure you don't put it on upside down when you reassemble, very helpful, thanks much
You must be a man of steel cause I could not disconnect the top from the bottom, but thanks to Jessica Ellis' comment, I continued following your video, and it works again! Thanks so much.
Gracias.
Thank you for this video! I am looking for a brand that's easy to take apart and fix. This *Bona* model looks easy to take apart. I have an older Bona with a green handle that is really hard to take apart - star bits, and snap together parts that are tricky to unsnap. I wasn't able to repair it. I'll get this one. Also, bonus for the most adorable family ever! You're living the good life.
Edit: after taking a better look, I tried your "spray down the barrel" approach. It worked! This model of Bona was still very tricky to reassemble, but I'm glad I took another try: kept it out of the landfill! Thank you again, sir!
I was able to access the plunger simply by popping the handle off at the base. That was not the problem with mine, but it gave me the idea to do the same thing (lubricate) the fitting that's on the bottle. That fixed it!
Thanks for this. After watching, I realized that my problem was that the white tab thingy from the previous bottle of cleaner was NOT supposed to be there. I pried it out with the screwdriver and had no problem snapping the new one in.
Thank you! My Bona mop is a bit different, and has a spongy handle covering where the two handle pieces connect that I couldn't remove. But was still able to disassemble it enough to spray the spring. Working great now!
Follow up. Unit needs adjusting each time we use it now. Just discovered another culprit. Making sure the solution container is seated fully inside the unit. Sometimes i have to add pressure to keep it seated properly.
##### 5 Second Fix! ##### 1) Take out the bottle. Put it back in. 2) Just stand the mop upright and push pulse the mop handle down firmly into the base a few times to get the lock engaged more deeply. 1_ Every squirt drains a little water out but doesn't backfill the displaced water with air. Same amount of air in a larger volume means lower pressure in the air, which then pulls the water back from draining with each squirt. 2_ Mine had a weak spray. Not nonexistent. Not entirely unusable, but weak and annoying, requiting lots of sprays to get adequate liquid out. I took mine apart and cleaned nothing. I locked the pipe back into the sprayer, put the bottle on, and Presto! it was spraying well! (Not entirely clear if this was just 1) in action.) The problem for me was just that the plastic snap that locks the pipe in place gets old, weakens, and loosens. Gotta get the pipe down on that plastic as far as possible, with the lock fully holding it in place. Then the lever from the handle more fully engages the pump, and you get more water out. The Fix - Just stand the mop upright and push pulse the mop handle down firmly into the base a few times to get the lock engaged more deeply. That's it.
The easiest way is to call or email the company. They will give you a code number and you can call them. They will trouble shoot with you over the phone. I just did this. The mop was still not working and they are sending me a new one.
Thank you, Sir. My mop was about to end up in the trash before I found your video. You saved me $30.

Thanks. it’s been sitting in the corner for a while. Now I can be my wife’s hero
This is a major problem the manufacturer should address and correct
I agree. Thank you, although this gentleman
Great explanation and demo! I'm also impressed with your multi-tasking skills (filming, talking, dog, baby lol). Thank you for this!

Awesome video! Thank you for sharing and I agree the manufacture should be aware their QC is not up to par.

I don’t have a Bona but will try this fix. Great explanation tho you should do more videos explaining things, you have a great on camera presence.
Agreed! 🎉💪 Please film any time you fix something.
Thank you for this video. I tried this last Saturday, and now our Bona mop sprays like it is new!!

Thank you again, sir!
Thanks for the repair lesson! I was getting ready to toss it & buy something else! Now I won’t be adding to the landfill!!
Wow-this has happened to me twice. Now I know what to do instead of buying a new mop! Thank you

Very helpful - thanks! I worked through the steps and am happily mopping again.

AMAZING! Just did this and it works great! I couldn't get the top part of the handle off but didn't need to. Thanks!!!
Wow - I just removed the bottle, sprayed the WD-40, and success!! Thank you!

How did you take it apart? I have the same one as you.
