- Subscriber request....I am responding to several subscribers who asked I review or discuss my enormous pile of discovery sets, including this one. I hesitated and at first, didn't want to do a video on this collection because I knew it would not be glowing. But I believe all "reviews" or opinions can be helpful to some....even if they are not overly positive. Here I share my opinions of this collection. Spoiler alert!! It's not ALL bad. :)
Also, I do appreciate fragrance houses that offer nice discovery sets. This one was very affordably priced at Lucky Scent if you want to try out yourself.

Thank you for being honest in your reviews! I think it's easy to get carried away with a fragrance hobby and quickly jump on the bandwagon. Sometimes I step back and say, hey, we are talking about $300 plus, so let's be discerning with our purchases. Love the piano music in the background.....

Hi Chris, thank you for your honest and frank review. I note your statement as to having purchased the discovery set yourself and I think that is what sets you apart from many reviewers. I have seen so many raving reviews about the Roja perfumes. The vloggers would disclose right from the start that they have been so generously sent free bottles. At that price point, to be given a free bottle, not to mention bottles with an s, it would be very difficult to stay unbiased. I bought my own discovery set and just started today by dabbing Essence 51 on my arm. I think it is a unique scent but what you observed I also found to be true. It was gone on my skin in just one hour or even less. And while I haven't tried the rest in the kit, the longevity was discouraging. It made me so glad to have bought the discovery kit first instead of simply relying on all those reviews of free bottles. And so, I appreciate you and have now subscribed. I imagine I'd be doing a marathon of your videos in the next couple of weeks. Oh, and if you haven't, can you please do a review of Greenwich Village and Tribeca from NYC Bond No, 9, as well as the perfumes from Ostens House? All the very best to you!
Hi Maria! Thank you. Well….I had a rule when I started; I didn’t accept anything as a gift for the first year (I think I first accepted something at 11 months) and I didn’t follow a script and could say what I wanted. I turn down 99% of collabs offered because I just don’t want to do them and be a sales person. So if it shows up on my channel and it’s been gifted, it’s because I would spend my own money to buy it. I am about to pack up a perfume sent yo me for free, but I don’t really care for it…so I’m giving it to one of my subscribers who enjoys perfume but is on a very limited budget. I’ll also never sell something gifted to me; big no no in my book. Thanks for stopping by and subscribing! I really appreciate it. 💕❤️PS I ended up buying 51 in the perfume version (purchased myself) and it still has poor longevity but it was so pretty I was ok with it. Sometimes powerhouse fragrances are not always appropriate (work, restaurant, etc). 😉💕

Thanks for your honest opinion ! I've not found a Roja that I loved enough to buy for the moment. Elixir was pretty, but a bit too shampooey for me. A midnight summer dream was my favourite one so far. I've not tried 51 yet but I heard good things of this one.
Hi Karine! I’m with you! I’d like to get the 51 in the EDP ( not parfum) and I’ve seen it online for a reasonable price. So as long as I can get the EDP reasonably…..I’ll probably do it. You have so many gorgeous fragrances. You don’t need any of these. 😉❤️
You look stunning, super sleek! 💕 Reckless is the one I like from from Roja, just own a travel size, not impressed overall with the rest either plus they don't last! Not worth the hefty price tag IMO. Thanks for your honest reviews as always!! 😊

Great review, I’ve also been very curious about this house and it seems like 51 seems to be the one that a lot of people agree on and it’s good to know that the essence doesn’t have good longevity so food for thought definitely might need to get the Parfum instead

Once again I'm catching up on your channel and commenting very late but thank you! I just received my Roja discovery set and have been a little underwhelmed. I'm wearing Elixir today (Parfum version) and had my son give his thoughts. "Pleasant and somewhat ordinary" is what he said. He thought it smelled like "regular perfume". Yes, I'm completely with you Chris. I wanted to be wowed and had looked forward to smelling something very special. While these are lovely and pleasant, none of them stand out to me as "gotta haves". I'd love to see any discovery set reviews from you! The background piano music from Pat is so beautiful! Maybe you can sway him to make an appearance one of these days!

Roja does advice first to apply your parfume and then to apply a lotion. I do this always with my short lasting fragrances and I really get more longevity.
I can't say anything about his brand. I found this house a bit expensive. However I find his packaging gorgeous.

I keep seeing this brand all over RUclips and I was curious about it, however not ready to pay this much for fragrances. Dua house also caught my attention and I ended up getting their version of 51 and I’m excited to see how I like it once I get it in the mail 🤞😊
Hi Yulia! I haven’t pulled the trigger for the 51 parfum yet because I had a few subscribers tell me (after watching this video) even the parfum version of 51 has terrible longevity. I do think human nature we want to be gracious when we are given gifts….and LOTS of these bottles were given out for free….so it’s no wonder the less glowing reviews are coming from ppl that purchased themselves. I’d be very interested to hear your feedback with the Dua version. 😉❤️
Great video - very honest and informative! I too LOVE the smell of 51. However, even the parfum version of 51 feels quite light and fleeting for me (that’s the only thing holding me back from getting a bottle as I REALLY enjoy the scent)!

I appreciate this informative and honest review. For some reason, Roja never interested me enough to try, despite all the positive youtube reviews, or was it because they were positive...? I noticed it too that all the reviews were positive.
Hi there!!! Yes……I think it’s very difficult to say negative things if you are gifted a bottle. That’s not a bad thing….it’s human nature. We don’t like saying something negative about a gift. That’s why for now…I feel a little “more liberated” by not accepting bottles or products at this time. 😉❤️it’s a personal thing and absolutely not trying to “throw shade” on those that do. Not at all….I may make exceptions in the future if I really love a house or brand. 💕

Second comment here but I was about to pull the trigger on a bottle of 51perfume but I decided to hit pause and replay your review. So glad I did and so glad I read through the comments. What was I thinking!? I didn't love my discovery set and yet I had the bottle in my cart. No. Finding it for a little less than retail doesn't mean $280 is well spent. Pass for me. Thanks Chris. Your channel and Emy's from Canada are incredibly helpful and I rely on honest reviews. I'm in a city with Nordstrom, Saks, Sephora but they don't carry some of these more niche fragrances that allow me to easily go sample.

Yes it’s really tough when you get something as PR to be brutally honest. The toughest part of doing these reviews. Very very very few ppl are honest and respectful….it’s a very fine tightrope. My biggest pet peeve is reviewers either not disclosing a free PR bottle or loving every single bottle sent. 🤔Yea no. 😂
You rock ! 😍This video was amazing finally someone who is 100% objective about Roja Parfums, especially the Essence de Parfum line! I only like one and it's Danger, I have it in the Essence de Parfum and Parfum version ,and the Parfum version is a "clone" of my old times favorite Samsara, 100% (probably that's why I like it so much 😜), my second and third runner ups are Reckless (because I love orange blossom and I agree, having Gimauve de Noel to me doesn't make sense to buy Reckless, on my skin the dry down is super similar) and 51 but I heard it has poor performance even in the parfum version so if you wanna be first, try it and let me know 😍😍

And I am so glad I’ve had feedback on the 51 parfum and EDP. I found the EDP at Fragrance X for a really good deal and was going to buy it…but now I’ve changed my mind. You are like the 6th person to tell me the performance is bad on that one also. Thank you dear! 😉❤️
@@ThePerfumeNest yeah, to me although lasting power is not a deal breaker to a certain extent, if it’s below the 3-4 hours mark I’d rather pass on. There’s enough in the market to choose from with better performance 😘😘😘

The best overview!!!!! Gosh thx God you are saying about the longevity, no one really does & this is the main point in expensive perfumes, 300$ for 2 hours sorry it's wrong & thx to your review I didn't make the mistake to spend such money because there is so many nice perfumes that cost half & last forever, for example gucci guilty some last on clothes for weeks!!!! or gaultier stayed even after dry cleaning on my coat.. so this "niche" parfums its just oh look I'm rich I can buy this but in fact mostly disappearing in few hour's & I like mine to stay on my forever... thx one's more for mentioning the longing it's the first important reason to buy a parfum for me because its so many out there this day's good one's & no need to spend crazy money on it .. I was considered to buy Danger but prefer CHANNEL as it's stays forever & half the price..

creation E parfum pour homme (all black cap)
amber aoud
candy aoud (I love way more than sweetie)
kingdom of Saudi Arabia (of the gulf collection)
Diaghilev and Nuwa are loves too
The only ones that have made me speechless other than Roja are unique’e Crush on Me and Naxos.
Interesting your take on creation E essence! I have not tried essence or any of the colognes, but my parfum is a thick ultra luxe cognac and coca cola with unbelievable projection and sillage. I literally felt like $500 was underpriced for this masterpiece. Creation E Aoud is amazing as well but I still prefer the parfum pour homme, I may have to try this discovery set to compare.
@@bettybbags hello Betty bags. I appreciate your comment. I believe that you are talking about Enigma pour femme Parfum there must be some inconsistencies in production of this perfume(s). I have a full bottle but can hardly smell anything, no projection, lasting power or spillage. I have close to 300 bottles of niche and designer perfumes in my collection and I can smell them all so I do not suspect there is an issue with anosmia. STRANGE.
@@DK-jl9hw I haven’t tried pour femme, I have creation-e parfum pour homme, the one w the all black cap. I buy from Roja’s site but for creation-e, I purchased from neimans. I haven’t tried the clear caps or the gold caps.
For the love of god, please don’t worry about offending or disagreeing. So maddening buying something someone is saying is so amazing. What a waste of $$$$$$. I click in declutters the most lately, I’m tired of everyone loving everything! Sorry had to vent 😬

One of the reasons I like listening to your channel is that even though you might love a scent, you explain the nuances so well that I feel I know if it’s right or not for me regardless of your feelings about it

Hi Chris, I watched this video last week as I got the same discovery set, I loved 51 but had the same concerns as you. After watching your video I made the decision to save up and get 51 in the perfume concentration, went into harrods today and by coincidence they had 51 in the EDP 50ml travel set for almost £100 off though I would let you know I case the deal gets to their website and you can get it x

I have the sample set as well and I liked 51 the most followed by Risqué (creation r) and reckless. I have 51 in the essence version, the edp version and the hair mist.
I really want to get the PARFUM but it’s like $1000 and I’m not ready to drop that much!
I was thinking the EDP then….I’ve seen it at FragrAnce X for 275$. Maybe I’ll wait on that also!!!! I’d never spend 1000$ on perfume. Ever. Unless it made me look 10-20 years younger! I mean it better at that price!! 😂😂❤️❤️

I bought the same discovery set, and I’m very glad I did. I did not end up loving any of these. I am not a huge fan. They were just so so to me.

@@ThePerfumeNest I was really surprised as I typically like many of the same things as some of my favorite reviews, and these get great reviews. But they actually smelled very mature to me. Which I was not expecting at all.
Not tried any of these. I love discovery sets though as long as they aren't crazily priced 🙄 love the piano, wish I could play something... I remember my cousins were forced to play piano as children. As soon as they were allowed to stop, they did 😂 I was always sad that it wasn't me that got the lessons...
I think this a hard pass given your reviews of longevity, even with cream, even for ones that you like. Phew $300!!! Ouch...

If you decide to get the essence bottles order from selfridges they are $260 if you sign up for global shipping you pay 1 time fee for a whole year and avoid shipping costs if you continue to order from them

@@patriciat5323 nothing that smells close to that. Ylang in Gold is beautiful (has vanilla and coconut so it’s a floral gourmand). 51 is an amber floral

I got the essence 51 I think it is absolutely gorgeous. Yet I am so incredibly frustrated how it is basically a skin scent. Never been so disappointed because it’s so beautiful but no one will get the chance to smell unless maybe while I hug them. I can not find a dupe either
Exactly my beef. These were getting rave reviews at first (from ppl getting them free 🤨) and I was like…why??? They are imperceptible. I think that’s why these just basically went away because they were flops. But I did buy the 51 perfume . It’s still very light but lovely.
@@ThePerfumeNest Yup let’s you know what reviewers you can trust based off the review of these fragrances alone. Anyone who says they get good projection or longevity is not trustable in future haha . I do own the 51 essence I got recently for 145, that bottle really got me!
