  • This heritage railway is built on the trackway of New Zealand's first public railway that ran from Ferrymead to Christchurch.. It opened in 1863.
The heritage line re-opened in 1977 and what you see today is the result of many thousands of hours of volunteer work. Contained within the Ferrymead Heritage Park, the railway capture the atmosphere of bygone years and runs not only steam but also diesel and electric trains.
I only spent an afternoon with the Ferrymead Railway to video the three sequences I have put on RUclips but I would like to thank all the staff for being so helpful and welcoming.
Everyone was enjoying the rides on the D 140, especially the children (old and young!).
I hope you enjoy the three videos. Please click SUBSCRIBE if you'd like to see more steam videos, I have a few on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway in Eryri, the Snowdonia National Park in the UK and will be adding to them.
    Thanks for watching,
    White Dragon Pictures.
