  • The Abenaki (Abenaki: Wαpánahki) are Indigenous people of the Northeastern Woodlands in Canada and the United States. They belong to the Wabanaki Confederacy and speak Algonquian language. The Eastern Abenaki language was widely spoken in Maine, whereas the Western Abenaki language was spoken in Quebec, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
