  • You can measure the internal resistance of a multimeter using megger tester.
As you can see in this video, $5 DMM is not accurate and lower internal resistance(1MΩ). So, it will more influence on the measured circuit.
    Fluke 107 Internal Resistance = 10 MΩ
    Hioki 3244-60 Internal Resistance = 10 MΩ
    $5 Multimeter Internal Resistance = 1 MΩ
Another method is using series resistor.
This resistor in combination with the internal resistance will form a voltage divider.
If you apply 5V over a 1M series resistor, and the DMM shows it as 2.5V, then the internal resistance is 1MΩ

Hi, how do you check internal resistanceresistance with a 2.5 Amps ?

saudações do Brasil + like. eu não sabia que a resistência interna do multímetro variava. informação útil. sucesso.

The meter on the left is sometimes called a Megger, it uses high voltage to measure resistance.

If you test high voltage with an unrated meter, it will explode and your skin will ignite.

@@adayinthelife5496 not really, a part may pop inside and it's not real safe but if you do the math it's about 1/2 mA into the cheapo meter and if you do a brief reading it's okay and if one is measuring 500 + volts regularly, it's highly likely one has a better meter then a $5 dollar meter!

Actually, I was talking about arc flash on power equipment.

@@adayinthelife5496 I played with over 200KV more then once, ARC flash is not so common even with 1000 Volts if you have clean and correct circuit, what I said still stands as True.
