My favorite group of all time. Saw you guys in HOUSTON PLAYING WITH CAMEL IN 1972. Most awesome concert I've ever seen. Met you in Corpus Christi and gave you wooden feathers that matched the wood on your guitars. Never stop rocking.
I also have to say , of all the bands I have seen and heard - Wishbone Ash is my favorite rock band of them all . I mean I love Yes , Caravan , Jethro Tull , Nektar , Blue Oyster Cult , ZZ Top , Atlanta Rythum Section , on and on , but I just love coming back to Wishbone Ash , the 5th album is probably my favorite , along with Argus , but those were some great days . I remember when I was on leave from Ft . Hood Tx , and I called up my friend who was a DJ at KZSU radio at Stanford University . I requested ' Hometown ' and he mentioned my name on the air and the fact that I was on leave from the Army ect , and by that time we were in the backyard of my friends house in Atherton having a few puffs of green when the song came on his family's stereo . Memories ....
This is one of the bands that totally changed my life when I heard them, back in high school in the early 70's.....along with the allman bros.,santana, floyd, clapton's bands, aphrodite's child,Lynnyrd skynnyrd, the dead, early genisis, jetho tull, english celtic influenced(fairport convention, maddy prior, renbourn, etc.),and other similar bands-playing music that i only really totally understood after taking good, clean natural psychedelics,in a safe, natural (not human unconsciously created, not saturated with bad, unhealthy patterns-ie. In nature, not most town/city environments) setting.....glad to see them keeping the music real, alive and vital still....thanks for posting.
So it’s the very early 70s, I went to see my favorite band, ‘Ten Years After’, there were 2 opening bands I had never heard of, I thought to myself if I can just make it to the main act, well the two openers were: Wishbone Ash and the Original Allman Brothers Band with Duane, I was blown away with all the guitar mastery, best $5 i probably ever spent
That was the same situation with me at Winterland in San Francisco , I think J. Giles was the top bill but anyway, Wishbone Ash played great and the crowd was blown away . Saw them every time I could after that and bought many of the albums .
I went to see Wishbone Ash many years ago at the Pavilion Hemel Hempstead Andy’s home town. My friend Patrick McInerney had played in bands with him. It was a fabulous evening
Great music .. great sound after all the years that it was written and released to the world. I was 15 or 16 years old when I first got a copy of the Live Dates double album. I always kept in my memory the tunes of all music that such an album had. And I say that I always kept that music in my memory. Because I lost that album (I do not recall what happened to it), but, never again I listened the beautiful tunes of that album. Until 30 years later. That I stepped over a copy of it (now in CD version). I am very glad of having found this video of this inmortal band and their creations. That 50 years after they still sound beautiful, powerful, inspiring, great in one word ! I do not know if this band is composed by the original Wishbone Ash members (I doubt it). Maybe ... If they are really the original members .. it is almost a miracle that they sound very close to how they sounded as recorded in the Live Dates album. Released in 1973. Great miracle from RUclips 😅
Had the pleasure of meeting Andy and the band some Years back in Germany after seeing them for the first time in Austria.....maybe 2007/8 Great band and great guys.
A friend to from Conwy to the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, in my 20 year old mini van in the 1970's; well worth the risk, saw them three more times whilst working all over England. This concert was on my birthday; I hope they come to Perth Australia.
Toujours performants mais la période 70-80 avec Laurie Wisefield était magique, les dialogues de guitares ont inspiré beaucoup de formations. Wishbone Ash... 👍👍🎶
very first band i ever saw and vividly remember being on a large spiral staircase which was swaying badly as they played blowin free lol....amazing atmosphere and great music
Drummer..? It's The original? Steve Upton? Great drummer i know. The other original VAS Andy and Martin Turner + in second time Laurie Wisefield. I see him two time in Italy many...many years a go...i was so young wonderful time and sooo beauty music...
Hearing another track now a month on I like them more than before... the chap playing the Vee guitar is doing some nice guitar stuff in this second track.
Saw them in U.K. when Laurie Weisfield had just joined. Fantastic. Would love to have seen Roy Buchanan live. I’m a Deep Purple fan and saw Tommy Bolin live in Glasgow. Tommy was great. However the band decided to split after the last gig in Liverpool, which didn’t go well.
Wow,that must have been a great concert.unfortunately,I missed seeing Roy, and wishbone ash live....fortunately i got to see a lot of other great bands, though, back when you could go to an awesome concert for about $4.00-7.00 or so....
I remember hearing Wishbone Ash in the 1970s, and thinking they had a really catchy song... they opened with it tonight; yes they can play okay but songs are less than exciting still... but nice to hear them again even so... Mark P......................
So far it is - The King Will Come - The Warrior - Throw Down the Sword - Rock and Roll Widow - Ballad of the Beacon - Baby What You Want Me to Do - Blowing Free - Jailbait - Lady Whiskey - Phoenix -
Nothing wrong with this at all I disagree with the negative comments quality band great music don’t ever disrespect Andy Powell kept this going for 50 years when the rest didn’t want to know the band has been through some lean times the ash were never about vocals anyway although Paul Rogers may have took them to another level 😮
Yes, Andy has kept it going all these years, when the others have decided they had had enough, wanted a break, or wanted to go off and do something different, We are mainly including the original 4, Andy, Martin, Steve and Ted, but also Laurie who came in after Ted. Those 5 wrote all the most known, 70's songs, which are still the main songs still played by both W.A. and Martin Turner. I think we should honour all of them, although I know a large number of fans who do not agree, Without all of them, we would not have such a large legacy still to enjoy. As for the vocals, I seem to remember that the vocal harmonies between Andy and Martin, were just as important as the music being played on their instruments. Still, it's 50+ years ago now, and memories play tricks on one over time. Listen to others of that ilk. Are they still able to produce the vocal goods they once were capable of!!
I don't think that type of vocalist would have suited the band's music. That includes Plant, Mercury, Geddy Lee, Jon Anderson. All too unique and brash. Nothing wrong in their normal settings. Greg Lake and Andy Latimer type comes to mind..@@paultoon

love that band, but they sound now horrible live!, the voices are horrible, that drummer is not good for the ash, sorry!, love the new album in studio but this i dont like...., sorry.
I know what you mean but I was surprised that they still pull off a performance so good 50+ years on. Deep Purple can still pull off great shows and albums but no band in that genre will now have that plus of their youthful energy and inspired music which hadn’t been heard before live, by a young audience.

Saw them with Robin Trower at the Armory in Salem Oregon in the late seventies. One of my favorites from back in the day.

Should be considered one of the best live rock albums ever - drop buy a used record store and you may find it again !
Andy Powell, (on the flying v that may be an old-days relic), is the sole original member.
They still sound great after all these years 😊😊
I thought that my self as well, how dose it go "The Party 's not over till ?"

One of the greatest bands have seen them in many formats always great performances
Fantastic. Great band and legacy. Argus .. possibly a perfect album and many of the rest not far behind.
Last saw them at the Civic Hall in Dunstable, they were great, must have been 1960's !!
Still an outstanding band, going to see them in a fortnight at the Birdwell Venue UK. ' Can't wait '
keep going Andy!👍
Thank you, great performance - know them since the 70s!

merci pour le partage vu 2 fois en concert groupe magnifique vive le rock
Love these guys, been listening for years!❤
Saw them October '23 in Exeter Uk still an excellant band, maybe because it was at the Phoenix centre but the Live Dates set had it all.
Love WA.If you ever get the chance,SEE THEM!
Going to see them in Leeds .... Brudemell ,Sept 2023 .... cant wait :)
Lovely clean sound for a live concert.
saw them in croatia ( still jugoslavia ) in split ... twin barrel burning - great concert
That was a 'belter' of an album, and a 'ruddy' good live set
Seen them live 3 times, all fabulous.
Love their sound!
Brilliant. Many thanks for putting this up! 👍👏👏👏
no sweat, just doing our job!
Great Drummer...!!

Thank you so much for sharing. Wanted to see them so badly as a kid. It. seems like when music is in the toilet dial it back. NOT to sample it.
In the very least the stage at Reggie's is well drained if the place ever floods!!
First rate performance and recording.
I can't understand why this band (Andy's) have so much trouble keeping a drummer that knows how to play in a band . Ears and brains are a must .
Hearing another track now a month on I like them more than before... the chap playing the Vee guitar is doing some nice guitar stuff in this second track.
That " chap " would be The honorable Andrew ' Andy ' Powell , and don't you forget it !
@@gordonlandreth9550He used to be Andy Powell... Not sure who he is now..
Saw them at Kidlington Football Club warm up for their big Anniversary tour.
Andy Powell's Wishbone Ash, or Martin Turner plays the music of Wishbone Ash band?
Only saw these guys once , 1974 first and last Springfield oaks music festival , with Quicksilver , Roy Bucannon and James Gang

Wow - how was Quicksilver ? One of the best bands out of San Francisco during the early years . Rock Royalty there .
Perfect
Of course, the vocals don't improve with time: Andy Powell becomes older and older...
Setlist please!

👍👍70+
1:19:44 Never seen a stage with a massive drain in it, before. Weird.
Was für eine unglaublich geile Show. Leider immer unter Wert geblieben. Sehr schade.
Geil, vielleicht besser als darmals .!!!
lol who are the curmudgeons that disliked this video? 2% of yall have issues.

Anybody got the Setlist ?

Is that a drain on the stage behind Powell?
Why is there what looks like a drain cover in the middle of the stage?
to drain the stage, duh
😂

back vocal is really poor. and lead vocal a bit weak. But it is good old school rock from veterans of genre
Voices not good .In 70's they harmonized
I watch them yearly in the Colossal in Aschaffenburg. There they sound much better….
