    Stumbled on this site. As an American I am impressed with the beauty and high quality of the universities in Australia. However, no mention of the cost.

      Ah! Now that’s an interesting point!
      I’ve been mostly filming these with Australian high school students in mind.
      Fees for Australian students are the same amount across all universities, based on the discipline. Eg law and medicine are more expensive, arts degrees are cheaper - but they cost the same regardless of university (excluding the 2-3 private unis we have - most unis are public).
      However, I’ve noted that quite a few of my audience are from overseas, so this would be good for them to know.
      Will definitely bear it in mind when filming future reviews. Thanks!

      Ranges from 7-10k per year depending on which course or university you choose, commonwealth supported students get HECS, which is essentially a student loan, with almost no interest which does not have to be paid back until the individuals income reaches a certain threshold.

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  5 лет назад +16

      That’s right for Australian students. For international students it’s a lot more - $20k+ per year. All details are on each uni’s website

    With all the lukewarm reviews and feels about ex-students of this university,
    a lot usually complain about the poor quality of being a post-graduate and it's
    work intensive environment. I'm planning to go to UWA and actually have found
    out what this university really is.
    All universities aren't perfect. Every single one will have its flaws, and it really depends
    on your attitude towards the work you do in the university you're in and if you're putting
    the effort and commitment into it.
    With UWA, what I gathered is that it solely depends on your course and your teacher.
    If you're doing a course that requires you to be 'work intensive' in the workforce, expect
    the course or bachelor to be work intensive. With the combined course I want to do, a lot
    of people say it's enjoyable, especially if you're really into what the bachelor course has to offer.
    Overall, university is for those who really will put their time and commitment into the work they do.
    Don't come to UWA if you're not ready for that, not saying that people who are 'academically challenged'
    can't get into university, it's just that everyone has their own method into getting into the workforce, and university is just one of them.

    I live in Perth, thinking of either studying Criminology at UWA or ECU, or counselling at Notre Dame :)

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  5 лет назад

      Those are some interesting choices. There's definitely going to be some overlap between the two programs.
      What criteria are you using to decide which one you'll pick?

    • @bmedits9874
      @bmedits9874 5 лет назад

      @@ChoosingYourUni well for the longest time i've wanted to be a criminal psychologist, but i'm not interested in studying psychology. Criminology seems really amazing, but I'm also not interested in any of the career opportunities that the degree would take me. Notre Dame University in Fremantle looks amazing, and I've always wanted to help others! I'm 16 currently in year 11 doing my ATARS so i'm not really in any rush to decide, but I like planning ahead :)

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  5 лет назад +2

      Respect to you.
      You’re right - there’s no rush to decide. You can also try different things and change if they don’t work out.
      Social work sounds like a good place for you to start.
      If you want to help people, you could also start with an even more general degree, like arts and science, and explore topics about humanity: anthropology, social sciences, history. And while you’re at it do some internships, volunteer and even do an exchange.
      It might mean you take an extra 6 months to finish your degree because you try many things. But That breadth of experiences will help you narrow down what you’re truly interested in.
      Most people do it the other way around. They do a narrow degree, rush out to work and take 5-10 years working out that they don’t like the career they’ve chosen!
      Better to take the time up front, not rush, and narrow it down than to rush in.
      It sounds from your brief description, though, that you’re very pragmatic. Respect. Good things come to people who look ahead.

      Hi Twinkle, at this stage I'm not going to be able to do individual course reviews. You should be able to get some information about the faculty, at least, on www.qilt.edu.au. Search for UWA then the relevant faculty and you can see student satisfaction and other data.
