The restaurant was Carrabba’s and they would give you dough, let you touch it and roll it around everywhere, and then cook whatever design you made!

The restaurant Chevy’s used to give out tortilla dough to the kids to play with while waiting for dinner, it was so cool
So next time:
- add a bit more flour to the mixture
- try adding the yeast to the warm milk and let it activate BEFORE adding the butter
- flour your hands and the circle cutters to avoid sticking
- don't fry them as long

It was your sugar. I knew as soon as you used granulated, that you were going to have problems. Caster sugar is finer--You can substitute with granulated, if you stick it in the food processor & whip it up to make it into a fine powder. You did such a good job & next time if you make them with caster sugar they will come out perfect.

I’m not an expert on mixers but you are able to left it up closer. There is a metal bar on your right if you are looking at the mixer and you just left it up and it locks in place. It didn’t look like it was lifted in the video. Hope this helps 😁👍🏻

you can make your own caster sugar by just blitzing regular white sugar in a food processer/blender until its super fine!

I know i'm late for the party, but the donuts didn't go so well at the beginning because the oil wasn't hot enough. But you still did an amazing job for making donuts for the first time
Hey Andrew I think maybe your milk and butter mixture wasn't warm enough for the yeast, or maybe you didn't let the yeast sit long enough before mixing. Since you said it tastes like funnel cake, and funnel cake is a non-yeasted dough. The problems with the dough started at the beginning so thats what makes sense to me!
Been binge watching your videos for two weeks! On the TV ...so I couldn't comment...but now I am! Yay! Lol . Anyway you're great,love the vegan content . I'm practicing my solidification on veganism so your cooking is the bomb and unique and hilarious. 🤩👍✨

Hi! To activate yeast the liquids temp should be from 110-115F sprinkle the yeast on top and use the fork to gently mix or press is down into the liquid a bit then set it in a warm place for 5-10 mins and it should bloom!!

For easier donuts get regular biscuits (many are vegan), poke a hole and shake them in a bag of powdered sugar right when they come out. Soooo good.

In the future you can just put granulated sugar in a blender or food processor and it will become caster sugar !! And keep whizzing it to make icing sugar !

For the non Vegans, get a can of Biscuits. You get oil hot n ready and take your Biscuits and either make a donut hole in middle with your fingers, or a cookie cutter. I like to split Biscuits in half so they will cook more evenly. The thick dough Biscuits may cook faster on outside and stay lil chewy inside, so is easier just to split the dough. This glaze looks amazing tho, I always just shake my donuts in a paper Bag filled with powdered sugar. They are insanely good and addictive! So if you want the easy and cheap route and are not Vegan try it out, I promise you will looove them!

Hi, I'm a professional bread baker and I actually have developed my own vegan doughnut recipe. I also watched your frog bread video. I think you tend to over proof your dough, that's why it starts to collapse. And then it gets weak and doesn't really hold up cause the yeast is eating away at too much of it. Does that make sense?
