pixelFacade - kinetic facade concept

This is the prototype of a facade concept that aimed at creating a purely mechanical kinetic facade that allows for several states of the individual pixel-panels without demanding servo-motors for each panel.
The panels are actuated through the combination of tensioning cables that run vertically through the facade and geometrically biased alignment levers that are unique to each pixel.
The possible states are:
- fully closed
- fully opened
- gradient pattern
The panels can also be rotated simultaneously to achieve a wave animation. That is what the video showcases.
The prototype consists of approximately 1200 parts that were laser-cut from 3mm acrylic.

You can harness the wind, water or stop gases entirely!
Also you can use it as a LCD screen .
Maybe even make it into a game of something!
