How long did it take to replace? I picked up a V w/ both covers leaking and debating if I should pay someone or just DIY. I'm handy working on cars, just a bit lazy at the moment. :) :) :) I can have the car down for a bit as it is not a primary driver so think I might just do it myself. Looks like there is a fair bit more room on driver's side so that one should not be as bad.
@@beyerch they have aftermarket gaskets that work well, i just looked it up. The valve cover gasket is the same as the 4.6, the head gasket is a different story
Obviously I’m not there to see how it aligns but is a step bit from inside the fender well line up good enough to put a socket and extension through and when done plug it with a rubber plug/grommet?
Hahaha ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I did it wo raising the damn motor 🤦♂️🤦♂️ i gotta redo that side too. Thanks for the info
broooo thank you!! im changing one of the lifters in couple days. and didnt know how to get to the bottom bolt!!
the two 15mm bolts are way up under close to the head and the mount bolt is in a hole
Just finished this about a week ago. Just a basic nightmare. No easy way to do it.

The drives side is alot easier, lazy or not it depends on if you feel like doing the passenger side and i bet you will when you get a quote
@@andredornier Even finding the part I need is a problem. Pass side is discontinued and only a couple in stock across the country for my 'V series. :(

What did u drill for exactly?
Are stsv engines reliable I’ve heard a lot of head bolt issues
None of the 4.4l engines had thread failure, mine however randomly broke the head off a bolt.
@@andredornier that’s good to hear and when your bolt broke the the headgasket fail as well 🤔
@@jesuspena5366 actually it did not fail, i was replacing valve cover gaskets and found it
@@andredornier sounds like a good engine to me man I’m getting offered one in a trade it’s salvage title I’m still thinking on it
@@jesuspena5366 like to see what you do with it
