When they came to Calgary in Canada it was my very first large concert of any kind. I loved it! I saw them twice...I was a crazy crazy fan! My room was literally covered with Level 42 everything. Wow...dems da days.
Level 42 is one of the most underrated bands in history! Why they weren't more successful in the states I don't udnerstand! Keep on rockin' guys!!! Guaranteed is a pretty good album too so pick it up! Song rocks!
These guys are great LIVE....and up close, the best! SEXY and fun and alive!!! Glad I was able to see them, personally, in a compact 3+ hour concert in San Francisco and virtually so close that I could touch them!! Loved it. T. I'll always love & miss them. Love, Thom
great song, great concert. Lisbon, 21st June 1991 Coliseu dos Recreios. We're big in the clip brother, doing our part enjoying this great band...3'51'' LEVEL 42 ALWAYS
I am 16 years old and unfortunately I din't live in the 70s/80s. But i really ask myself how could people change from such wonderful music to crap music that is played these days.
Amazing group, amazing album, amazing song. I love Level 42's new album too, it's called RETROGLIDE and it's brilliant. Saw them live on their UK tour in September, brilliant !!! Mark King is amazing on that bass guitar !
one of the most underrated albums of all time....superb disc start to end. Guaranteed, Ovetime, ape, father shoes, she can help herself, lasso and to add icing on the cake is with a little love....Forever now is another underrated album. if youre a level 42 fan these 2 albums are a must in my book
I couldn't agree more. There isn't a CD of theirs that I haven't worn out. This guy in the states has loved this band for many, many years. I hope those guys have many more years yet. Classy guys, and wonderful musicians.
I am a US citizen too.I never seen this video as well.It wasn't a hit in our country but it was in Europe.I remember watching the British tv show "East Enders" back in 1992 (I believe) and this song was playing on the jukebox at the pub. But other than that I never heard the song anywhere else publically until now.
Fully agree ! Believe it or not, I just discovered this song ... 2 days ago (6 Apr 08) and am completely addicted to it and am playing it over and over again... Guess I'm making up for lost time... G.
I'm a dudette dude! That's mighty cool! I looked up Mike L. last year on his site and they way he spoke he made it sound like Level 42 was no more. Thanks!
saw these guys at royal albert hall last year... they were superb live... i could see them play all day. still as good as when i first heard them in the 80s
I was lucky enough to see Level 42 2x in the states. They opened for Steve Winwood in LA. Also a Nightclub called the Palace in Hollywood.....they blew me away
They still have a huge following, myself included.Althogh they were not as big as they should have been, dear Mr King had one very civil thing to say,"The time we put out a single, there were also other great tunes also released that entered the charts"
Hi dude, you'll be glad to here that the band will be touring your fine country in Feb next year. If you didnt know already, Mike Lindup has rejoined the band(keyboards) Saw them in concert on 14th Oct and they sounded better than ever
Guaranteed is a really great record (but I haven't found one of theirs yet which I don't like)....on any bad morning I can crank up "If You Were Mine", and there's the sun :) Thank you for another wonderful video of such a great band. Classy guys and first-class musicians. Many more years to them!
You may like to know they are back touring again. Due to visit the States in Feb next year. Saw them in concert on 14th Oct. sounding better than ever.
If I was asked what my all time favorite song is, I think I'd have to say this one. It's hard to pick an all time favorite. I can 'guarantee' that I will never get sick of this song. :D
Great band! I saw them open for Madonna's Who's That Girl Tour in Dallas, TX in 1987. Wow............things sure have changed since then, but that's another story.
Special song for me. Loved L42 all my life but dissapointed with Staring at the sun album, thought it was rushed through in the studio and could tell with some tracks. This song picked up the pace again. Overtime was nice too.
I love Mark Lindup's musical ability and enthusiasm . His mother was of black Belize descent, singer, musician, who a white guy fell in love with and married: that is Mark's father, English(British) white guy was a music arranger and composer . Mark was one lucky son
Unfortunately, the US only knew this band for Something about you and Lessons in Love. I live in the US and have listened to Level 42 for the last 20 years. They're awesome and should have destroyed our To 40 charts!
Sorry to hear you say you did not like Starring at the sun. I personnally love it. Especially "Heaven in my hands" and "Man". These guys are not afraid to experiment various styles of music.
If I'm not mistaken, it's actually similar to a guitar pick that is worn on the thumb. It also helps you avoid thumb blisters since bass guitars are quite thick and rough.
I'd have to agree.. I think was L.42's peak.. Great songwriting, playing(how about Alan Holdsworth?WOW..)This alb. should have pushed them into the big time,if there was any justice in the world. And you are right- Gary Husband hits some unbelievable grooves on this record-check out his playing on "If you were Mine"-inCREDible!
I am a casual listener of Level 42 and this is a fave song of mine it is very catchy. It was a hit in the UK and is a decent video. I recently bought The Ultimate Collection 2cd/dvd and either version of this video or the one for Overtime was not included. Anyone know why. Was it just a record company thing. Im sure fans would have wanted a complete video collection.
Allan left between recording the album and the filming of the video clip. Hence you can hear him, but you can't see him. Or at least that's what wikipedia tells me.
Why does it have to into a certain category?? Its Level 42...and its all good to me and its actually NOT the weakest tune they released...everyone has their own "weak" tune...I for one, dont care much for "Tracie"..LOVE LOVE LOVE the video, dont care for the song!!! :--)
has anybody heard this bands first album I heard it was a great ONE of the greateset C.D,S of the 80,s this song is awesome to if you guys can let me know that would be cool.

Mark King's a BEAST!
Uno de los mejores grupos musicales de todos los tiempos.

I'm a dudette dude! That's mighty cool! I looked up Mike L. last year on his site and they way he spoke he made it sound like Level 42 was no more. Thanks!
It's so different from their early stuff and yet GREAT. What's the magic behind this song? Yes, it's simple, but I justy can't stop listening to it !
saw these guys at royal albert hall last year... they were superb live... i could see them play all day. still as good as when i first heard them in the 80s
Awesome video! I've always loved this song. Thanks for sharing it!.
All the songs from Level 42 have a incredible bassline.
They are strong!!!!!!!!
Quite simply...their songs are my mind's internal soundtrack of my life...from mid 80's on.
Unreal talent....
I was lucky enough to see Level 42 2x in the states. They opened for Steve Winwood in LA. Also a Nightclub called the Palace in Hollywood.....they blew me away

Great band! I saw them open for Madonna's Who's That Girl Tour in Dallas, TX in 1987. Wow............things sure have changed since then, but that's another story.

powerful and moving song !!!
what can I write about the song: guaranteed a place inside my heart!!!
Considering how old this is (1991) a lot seem to be watching this video. I never heard of this song, but I like the newer sound they applied to it.
Mark King excepcional
Unfortunately, the US only knew this band for Something about you and Lessons in Love. I live in the US and have listened to Level 42 for the last 20 years. They're awesome and should have destroyed our To 40 charts!

Sorry to hear you say you did not like Starring at the sun. I personnally love it.
Especially "Heaven in my hands" and "Man". These guys are not afraid to experiment various styles of music.
I fell bad that I missed them when they came near my town a month or two ago and I don,t think they will be touring any time next year.
If I'm not mistaken, it's actually similar to a guitar pick that is worn on the thumb. It also helps you avoid thumb blisters since bass guitars are quite thick and rough.

Gary is indeed on the drums, and Allan Holdsworth did play live for the 10th Anniversary dates at Hammersmith in 1990.

The break from 2: 23 - to 245 is beautiful. Typical Mike - sound-innovative.
Allan left between recording the album and the filming of the video clip. Hence you can hear him, but you can't see him. Or at least that's what wikipedia tells me.
