@Mentor Tairi yeah the LS1 in the F bodies made the same power as the C5 Corvette but Chevy advertise the vet at making over 40 horsepower more when they both made actually the same amount of horsepower
I have a 97 with the LS1 Ram Air hood and tail lights. It's black and looks sweet. I get lots of looks from older people and compliments. It's got long tubes, no cats, and magnaflow exhaust. I posted a vid on here of me doing a quick little doughnut if you are interested. Search for 97 trans am smoky doughnut
@@davidschibilla9521 Yes, I want to someday, when I have money for it, to find and get low mileage 1997 Ram Air WS6 Trans Am with 6 speed, mint condition or slightly modified. Cheers!☺😎
36k was and still is alot these days. Thats what ultimately hurt GM and forced them to end production on these cars. They just costed too much. Big performance also comes with a big price tag.
Only seen a regular trans am with that spoiler ...never have I seen a WS6 T/A with that spoiler unless it was a formula or Firehawk 93-95 only on Firehawk ...I would love to see the RPO codes should say WS6 and WS9 I’m guessing it says WS9 only .....Airbox is correct though ....who knows they might of made a few like that with The WS6 pkg never seen one though ,and no Ram Air decals on hood at least I didn’t see them ......
I test drove a red 96 WS6 Trans Am hardtop (no t-tops) with the low wing when it was new. It was the only one I had ever seen like that and it stood out at the time. There were a handful built like that if you check the production numbers.
I have one...White on White...not only does it have a spoiler..it's a Hurst factory upgrade...I bought it in 2007 used 66k miles...It has 84k on it now. hardly ever drive it, but its fast as hell
it's called skip shift and it wasn't legislated by the government. GM get it so they could pass Cafe. GM could have not added the feature to the car, but than the car would have had a gas guzzler tax. Get your facts right
@@CaptainThirdGen well you learn something everyday, or maybe I knew it and forgot lol. Either way that's good to know. Though I have only ever seen the Trans am with the higher wing and the firebird with lower ones.
The the bumper covers, and hood are a dead giveaway, its a transam. Lt1 style birds had an option to upgrade the rear hatch to the high rise spoiler that came standard option on 98 and later transams
the car made 300 horsepower all along it was clearly underrated from the factory

What a great looking bird, they were absolute beast in their day
very nice bird. Love the early 4th gen LT1 WS6's more than the LS1 WS6s. Powerful and aggressive, yet still look sleek, not bulky.

boofighter lol that was hilarious!! 😂 thank you for that! 😂
I always wanted one. I was a kid when the Trans-am Ram air came out.
I still have my 95 T/A convertible 6 speed, and it’s a family member 😂 and thank god for skip shift eliminators
I got my '96 TA tuned shortly after purchase at the beginning of this year after some mods, tuner deleted all that junk for me so its not an issue

Nice find. Never seen this one!!!
I have a stick 99 firebird and I love it
I want to know 2 things
A) Why doesn't it have the TA spoiler if it's supposed to be one
B) why you insulted the pop up headlights
I had a 2001 black ws6. You wouldn’t believe the stories.
Nice bird
I thought the DRLs didn't come out until 97
Mike B
They are on my 96 Tahoe
But not on my 95 TA
Motoring TV is based in Canada. That country required cars to have DRLs before they were mandated in the U.S.
He forgot to mention you can lock the T tops in the slots with your door key so they can't be stolen. Dam I miss my car.

I have a 95 T/A, but it is not a WS6. It does ride extremely well. But ... I have even harder times on bumpy roads. Mine has 18-inchs.
About 6k more and you could have had an LT4 if you were one of the lucky few SLP or Firehawk owners. They were the real juice. But rare.

Dam I miss my car.
This car should have a higher wing, the convertible came with the low one. It must be a early design or something.
with the LT1 trans ams, the tall "trans am wing" wing was optional. The tall wing became standard on trans ams with the 1998-2002 model years
@@CaptainThirdGen well you learn something everyday, or maybe I knew it and forgot lol. Either way that's good to know. Though I have only ever seen the Trans am with the higher wing and the firebird with lower ones.
I thought the I
Uplevel wing was standard with the WS6. It may have something to do with being a European export.
It looks shit tho,
The low wing make the bird look way more sleek, it’s the only way I would want my ws6 to look.
I dont believe its a 1996 cuz the lights on the front and wing on back
