Phil Stewart was my grandfather.
Phil used to come into the Frolic Room on my shifts when I bartended there right before he passed, and would talk rock and roll with me over his Jim Beam and coffee. Great guy with an awesome sense of humor, and a true class act. Hope he's hoisting one with Elvis right now.

Melcher is dead. Bruce is way busy with The Beach Boys, and his voice is not as strong as it was back then I don’t think he can hit those notes anymore. Those two never toured with the Rip Chords unfortunately
@nathancarpenter4929 probly a little sarcasm w/post. Ripchords was a quick stepping stone for these 2.

Why would they try to ruin the legacy of Melcher Johnston Bringas and Stewart, I mean cmon. I know there are a lot doing this but the sound that those four got together will never be replaced, and this is just terrible. And it was terrible when he called hey little cobra “they’re song” and when he introduced Rich Rotkin he said original rip chord, so what he played some shows and was on the cover, did nothing to make the studio recordings what they were, and I mean I don’t think he would’ve helped much
