I grew up on westcoast 90s rap and its what I still mainly listen to today. I absolutely loved Death Row records. Regulate...G-Funk era was my very first rap cd (had other rap albums on tape, but had a hard time affording cds, so I bought the edited version used from a friend.). I've heard soooooo many interviews from these rappers, and often times I just hear repeated things. I really love interviews with Warren G. I always knew that Kurupt was discovered from the battle with snoop, but I didn't know that it was Warren who called him and recorded music with him to show to dre/suge. Also, this is the first time I heard about snoop and death row meeting up with eazy at the casino and shaking hands. Very cool to hear these stories from back in the day...luv it!
My first (original) CD was Regulate, before i had listened public enemy, snoop and other but that was the first one i actually purchased...i was 13...now im 43 and still listen g funk, snoop, dre, eazy, Pac, twinz, nate dogg, cube, ice T, cypress, and the good classic hip hop...long live to Warren G, RIP Nate, RIP Pac...peace
Can't stand when the interviewer cuts in and interrupts ...bruh was about to drop some gems and homie just starts talking!! Let them speak ...he did it to many times!!
U can tell when Kev gets an interview with a legend he grew up loving he gets hella excited as a fan and forgets he’s doin an interview. Bitter sweet lol
Mid nite hr is definitely warrens 2nd best album.. west coast classic that no one talks about.. if you are a true fan do yourself a favor and listen to it!
Sorry, but I disagree. I'm a huge warren g fan. His first album is in my top 10 of all time. First rap cd I ever bought. His best albums go in chronological order. I really only like his first 4 albums.
Man I had Warren G tickets and he was supposed to preform with The Twinz this past Monday in Portland but the show got cancelled. I’m pretty bummed about it but shoutout WarrenG one of the smoothest laid back foo in the game.
In the liner notes of Warren G’s second album he shouts out Darius Rucker, & Hootie & the Blowfish saying they had a hell of a party in Germany. I wish I knew the story…
"Whats next, what's next, what's nxet", my dawg caught that in 94, and I was like, mf, you a genius...lol...94 was a hella yr, let alone Summer, MC Eiht (We Come Strapped), I could go on
Warren G's first album is top 10 of the 90's for sure. Not sure why Dre, his own family, didn't see the talent. But maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
his voice still sounds silky smooth. "regulate" and "this dj" are 2 very strong tracks from my childhood for sureeeeee. "i hit the gate at the house on my shwin, then tell the homies ight then" :) #80sbaby
Def Jam went West and scoured LA.... Looking for their savior and in many ways the savior of Hip Hop. East Coast may be the founder but LA became the Mecca. The fact that they found it in Warren G, the stone that the builder refused is amazing.
Lets not forget warrens production on mc breed and dfc alvums with colin wolfe! Also featuring Nate Dogg and 2Pac. Warren did Gotta get mine Lie to kick it (with richie rich) Definition of a thug How long will they mourn me (rip nate dogg, syke, pac) Animosity freestyle
