Thank you for your service, Amanda. I'm a Veteran Naval Aviation Machinist Mate AD 1969 to 1973 . You have been an amazing asset to the Blue Angels. God bless you, and safe travels wherever you fly, and hope your future endeavors are very successful. Take care.
Thank you for your service Amanda I live in Rochester Minnesota. You are adorable. You keep flying until your little hearts content. You are really a little cutie.
Living in San Diego 7 minutes drive from Miramar I see the Blue Angels every year (except that one year that shall not be talked about). I have seen a number of stories about the challenges of new members and the LCDR's is no different. There is always that one maneuver that is always talked about as a challenge. As I post this, it is airshow weekend and since we went last year, we will just be standing in our driveway watching them do recovery setups over our house at low level. Low enough to see the pilots in the cockpit. I don't know how far Lcdr Lee will go considering a relatively late start but she may wind up being the Air Boss one day. Kudos to her early superiors for redirecting her path. It does not happen enough that potential is recognized and pointed in the right direction.
Sunliners!!!! My old squadron. I was in 71-75 and worked on A-7e's. I was an Ame, and worked on the flight deck for two years as a troubleshooter. We went out on the U.S.S. Forrestal CVA 59. Thank you so much for your service.
I really appreciate this interview. Amanda is a movie star. They made a great choice. I have known very few electronic techs that have moved to the #3 blue angel. Amanda is a naval aviator that is a woman. Not a woman aviator. Congrats on a great year. It was fun to point #3 to my grand daughter and tell her that is Amanda up there.
Technically, the description is inaccurate. Amanda Lee was not the first female Blue Angels pilot. That honor goes to Capt Katie Cook (Johnson), USMC, who was the demo pilot for the Blue Angels C-130. Amanda Lee is the first Blue Angels jet demo pilot. Small nuance, but give credit where credit is due. So many RUclips and media outlets incorrectly report this.
@@AmericanDreamColorado Amanda Lee is the first female Blue Angels demonstration pilot for the FA-18 jet. However, Capt Katie Cook, USMC, was a Blue Angels demonstration pilot for the prop-driven C-130 in the 2015-2016 timeframe.
The Blues advertised the Marine Corps Captain as the First Blue Angel pilot. I recall thinking at the time, it was about time since the Thunderbirds had females in their demonstration team for years. Then, we find out she was flying Fat Albert. Still with the Blues, but not what one would think with the wording they had. LCDR Lee is the first woman with the six-plane demonstration team flying with the Diamond. THAT is what we think of when folks hear about the first female with the Blue Angels.
Fat Albert is not part of the demonstration team, its a support aircraft that sometimes does flybys at airshows. "First Female Demonstration Pilot" is accurate.
She is currently a LCDR. Her cover, at the beginning of the video is a gold oak leaf. Not sure what date the exact date of the video is, but if her cover, and her date of rank is LCDR, guess what...shes a LCDR@richardc6843
Judging by the comments about her being at the end of her tour with the Blue Angels, the first video was when she first joined the team as a Lt. She was promoted while on the team to LCDR and changed to the slot position.
Congratulation to Amanda Lee. I'm sure the DEI NAVY will make her the commander of the Blue Angels team in the near future. She just have to stay alive.
Spoken like a true loser in life. There’s no DEI when talking about the Blue Angels and The Thunderbirds but a loser like yourself would never know how it is to appreciate how much all of the pilots work to earn their spots on the team. I guess it’s easier to hate when you’ve never achieved anything valuable in life.
A very ignorance comment full of jealousy. She could cut it, you couldn't, and you can't deal with it. Only very small, minded people think like this. You are sad
This is a great video...I met Amanda in El Centro last spring and was able to chat with her. She is an amazing woman and I am so proud of her.
This is so cute! I just love this!!!

@@DiamondPaintWithDiamondDave awe man. So sad to see her no longer a blue angel.

Saw her at NAS Oceana airshow two weeks ago and she really keeps that diamond formation
tight.
when you serve, every day is a fine fine navy day
When the Blue Angels get back to Indianapolis next year, make sure they invite Caitlin Clark for VIP ride. Recruitment will definitely soar!
Ty God bless you! V enlightening
Looking forward to seeing her @ Miramar tomorrow!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure she is a LCDR, not a LT as the video lead describes. She earned the rank, so make sure the lead is correct.
It’s literally on her flight suit.
