Your painting is just lovely Diane. Thank you. You have a very relaxed style to your painting - i will look forward to giving this a go soon! It's great to listen to you talk away while your painting too!
Thank you so much for the kind words on my book Diane! Your paintings are absolutely gorgeous! ❤ I hadn’t seen Joe Dowden’s work before, but I’m flattered by the comparison and I’ll definitely be checking out his work!
Hi Hannah, lovely to hear from you! I’ve watched you since you started on TikTok (I think I might have said that in the video) and I’m so impressed with how you have developed your work and your online presence, and on top of that a lovely book (which must have been a HUGE amount of work!!) I hope it’s selling well. Don’t take it the wrong way, I don’t want to sound patronising, but I want to say I think you have a huge amount of talent and I expect you’ll make a big impact in the watercolor world throughout your life. (I think you’re better than Joe Dowden, but he is (or was) a master of color used in a bold way!!) Take care and happy painting! Diane x
This is stretching me in a good way! I always painted land and water scapes in acrylic before so now I’m relearning as it were, in watercolor! Yours is wonderful!
You make me feel better Diane because I'm a perfectionist and you can't be when your watercolor painting. I like your landscape painting I think you did a beautiful job.
Omg! This is beautiful! I love the foreground but the paintings you showed in the beginning of the video I really loved the sky in the second to the last picture. That was the best sky I've ever seen of any artist. Thanks Diane 😊 ❤
You create such peaceful and quiet environments with ease. Thanks for the caution to leave some undeveloped spot to let the eye rest. I appreciate the advice to blend or mix the colors even in the same distance areas to make things more believable. Lovely result!!
I really enjoyed this video so much that I am going to paint it! My adult daughter and I are going to give it a go in a few days. Watching you paint in real time was very helpful and of course your laid back instructions. Well done!
I really enjoyed this video so much that I am going to paint it! My adult daughter and I are going to give it a go in a few days. Watching you paint in real time was very helpful and of course your laid back instructions. Well done! And I loved the red poppies you painted in one of the other paintings.
It is a lovely painting. I will definitely be trying it. Mine never looks as good as yours but I’m trying to improve my techniques. Thank you Diane. Always enjoy the conversation too. Take care.
Thank you Diane for doing this landscape. I enjoy all your tutorials and I ordered this book from your link. My daughter loves cats and I have been working on whimsical paintings for her for Mother's Day. Your channel has helped me to improve and loosen up with my painting. You are a true GEM in the watercolor world. I also purchased the book from your link. I also ordered The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden such a beautiful book full of beautiful watercolor paintings.
Love this landscape tutorial really inspiring me to try landscaping again. As a result of all your various tutorials you have taught me so many techniques which l would never have attempted. Thank you
Love this, thankyou Diane. Great idea starting small, definitely not as daunting. The way you did the sky was so 'no fuss' and it looks brillant....so effective! 😀
Thank you do much for that tutorial, Diane. I live in Exmoor and the landscape is rolling hills and big skies. The colours you showed us will make a very useful base for me. I have learned so much today. Cracking tutorial!
This is lovely. I've never painted a landscape, thought them to be quite the effort for this newbie but your steps are very simplistic and produce a great little painting. I can see so many places to make a lot of little variations and come up with a dozen different pictures from the same foundation.....if that makes any sense LOL. Thanks for sharing this, Diane
Everything you said in this video is so helpful to me! I will be watching it over again and take notes. You make me relax and learn about the right way to paint. I hope to be able to try it soon, even though things are so very busy right now at our house. Thank you Diane!😊❤
Thank you for painting landscapes! They are a favorite of mine. I would absolutely love to see how you would paint the stone walls you mentioned. I tried the other day, and I really struggled with perspective and texture. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, time, and talent.
Love love love!! I've been trying to find the video where you start with your French house interior with all your animals. Feeding your pussycats with milk. Charming! Which was it please? Thank you in advance!!
Hello Diane, long time no talk. Wow! a landscape. It looks tempting. I might try it soon. Thank you so very much for the awesome tutorial. Hope all of you are well. Please say "hi" to Tamzin (sorry if I misspelled it again). I hope that she is ok. (Sorry, I have not been in touch because I have been busy painting with acrylics). Please tell her that I really miss her videos. Hope that she starts making them again. Hugs to you all. Eve
Hi Eve and so glad to hear from you again! Tamsin has been a bit quiet on the From the Garden channel I know, she’s been very busy with the big channel and with actual gardening, but she took a long one last night which I’m trying to post so watch out for a walk with the dog soon!
@@DianeAntoneStudio Hello Diane. Thank you for responding. I just saw the video. Hurray! Hope she takes short films of her beautiful garden. Blessings to both of you.
I love painting landscapes, sometimes they work sometimes not 🙈 but there you go 😅 Really enjoy watching your videos and listening to you, thank you Diane 😊
My pleasure! It’s just the algorithm of RUclips. Landscapes are hard to get views on. So if more people watch them, I can do more! This one has shown me that it is possible, so I’ll keep on doing landscapes - just for you !!
What a wonderful landscape! It will be the next painting I try. I love your info about mixing colors….and not using colors like green out of the tube. Thank you, Diane! You’re the best!
A beautiful landscape painting. Does the advice you gave (given from another artist) on leaving a blank space, only apply to a landscape painting? Hope you do more landscapes. Thanks ❤
Hi Karen and Kathy, yes, I think it’s good advice which many artists overlook, either deliberately or otherwise. The artist was Roland Hilder. He was an exceptionally gifted draftsman and I have a book by him that you might enjoy called Starting with Watercolour. It’s not what we call a beginner’s book nowadays, being jam-packed with not only detailed advice on how to draw and paint but also the history of watercolour painting and much much more. On page 126 he said “Having recently looked at a number of watercolours by beginners, I was struck by the fact that most of the painters overfilled their pictures, packing almost the whole picture area with confused, fussy detail. The first rule, then that I put forward for your consideration (although it should not be taken as gospel) is that you keep a fair sized, flat open area in your picture as a restful space. It will set off and add significance to the other parts of the picture.” Heartily recommend this book and the constant reading of it, to anyone who is serious about wanting to learn to paint. (He was born in New York in 1905 but spent his adult life in England, mostly in Kent). I found a copy of it available from Awesome Books dot com here www.awesomebooks.com/book/9780906969854/starting-with-watercolour/used?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwouexBhAuEiwAtW_Zx0hYEsUKqW7hIasmx_IEDGbbyb5H40yfz0rnYu5tQJ32zvErj8ZfKBoC74kQAvD_BwE for just three dollars.
