- Sonic and Amy Rose have been a will-they-won't-they type deal forever... but only in poor Amy's head. All the girl wants is for the boy she likes to notice her, so she's turned to a friend for advice. Naturally. It's just a shame that friend is Tails.

So, that explosion near the beginning of this trilogy, could that have been Secret History Tails killing the "real" Tails to take his place? It would make sense, as the remains of the good Tails haven't decomposed completely, implying his death may have been pretty recent. Plus that explosion is the one loose thread that remains unexplained

Tails being emotionally manipulative makes a scary amount of sense. He wants to be Sonic's best friend and Amy getting into a serious relationship with Sonic could prevent that, so he underhandedly gives her advice that makes Sonic hate her and destroys her confidence.
He doesn't have to bother dealing with Knuckles, because while he is also Sonic's friend, he tends to stick near his island

This is actually some great foreshadowing when you look into it. Tails broke Amy down. He used her love for Sonic to his advantage, giving her advice he knew wouldn’t work, as well as giving them the same advice. He broke down Amy’s self-confidence. He broke her down, and made her more dependent on him because who else could she go to for advice other than Sonic’s best friend?
This is just a theory/HC, so take this with a grain of salt

It's kind of heart breaking to see Amy so willing to keep chasing Sonic and changing herself for him even though her feelings for him are obviously not mutual. It really illustrates how unhealthy it can be to get completely obsessed with one person.
This is why I think Sally Acorn is a better match for Sonic.

@@FuryanJedi13 Well we know from watching the Sonic the hedgehog complete series( aka Sat Am ) it was more just a platonic relationship; the two actually had feelings for eachother, they knew eachother strengths and weaknesses and knew how to build each other up on that even when or if they had disagreements.

I get it now. The explosion in Tails' lab was SH Tails killing the real Tails and replacing him, LITERALLY IN HIS FIRST LINE- "You could say I'm my own worst enemy." You guys are so clever.

I think I just realized the line “what are friends for?” Isn’t necessary a statement made by tails or him trying to comfort or help Amy but a question miles is asking himself.

Everyone talks about the S.H.!Tails foreshadowing, but nobody talks about Sonic. The reveal that he was always in love with her makes this more heartbreaking

The way Tails just keeps emotionally manipulating Amy and exploits her devotion and daresay obsession with Sonic into doing actions that he knows won't work is just brilliant. Constantly whittling her already low self-esteem down to the point to where Amy will do *anything* to gain Sonic's affection just shows how much of a Machiavellian, gaslighting genius Tails really is. Forget Robotnik ever being a threat (like he was in the old Archie comics and the SatAM TV series), Tails is the true villain here. I'm almost inclined to call him a psychopath.
I think a phychopatch is just a tiny too far, a phychopatch is someone who's feels no sympathy at all, but gotta agree it's genius
Edit: I can't spell apparently, by "psychopatch" I meant "psychopath" but surely many understood what I meant. Anyhow, I would like to preface saying that I do not know much about psychopathy or personality disorders in general, so I do not feel inclined to give him such descriptors to elaborate on his character portrayed here.

1. Amy is perfectly in character. Sweet, naive and love sick without crossing (too much) into creepy territory.

Also, kitsune means fox, but it could also be referring to a yōkai/demon fox with many tails. Hope I haven't messed anything up, it's been years since I stopped learning

Tails and Amy’s voices were top notch, the way Tails says “what are friends for?” As each time he says it, the animation gets more darker showing that he’s covering up the fact that he’s breaking Amy down to her lowest point, until she’ll do anything just to make Sonic love her.

AAAAHAHAHAH!!! I thought this was going to be another one of those hard-to-watch-without-grimacing sonic parodies, BOY how wrong i was! I was smiling the whole time.
It all makes so much more sense now that chapter 1 is over
The writing here is brilliant and makes Tails into a surprisingly scary character, as it slowly becomes more and more clear that although Tails is under the guise of a helpful friend, he doesn't really have Amy's best interests at heart and it makes Tails seem more devious and threatening than any villain the games have had yet
Maybe the true villain was the friends we made along the way
to be fair.. to be fair his biggest competitors are egg diabolical doofenschmerts and edge lord sonic so..
@@ephiuca Yeah. But even stuff like Mephiles, who's basically the Sonic world equivalent to the devil and killed Sonic, doesn't feel as evil. Mainly because there is no point at all where we trust Mephiles, we know from the second we see him, "Oh, yep, this guy's the villain, you see the demon eyes and no mouth? Good guys don't usually have those". But Tails is someone we can usually trust. He's our player two, the little brother or sister that played games with us as kids. He's the kid that saved Station Square and is always helping us. If there is a single character in the entire franchise that we can trust, it should be Tails. So, like Amy, we buy into his friendly facade at first, and once we realize just how devious he really is, it almost feels like a betrayal to us personally. At least, that's my thoughts on the psychological reason why Tails in this seems so much worse than any demon or madman Sonic has faced yet.

I don’t know if anyone commented on this before, but I think there’s more clever foreshadowing here than we think. I believe SH Tails specifically chose this universe cause this universe’s Tails was already working on the crystals needed to power the teleporter. You can see he already had blueprints of it when SH Tails jumped in. He might’ve also already had the necessary materials needed. Then, you see those same crystals he’s been working on in this episode; teleport him and Amy in episode 3. SH Tails already had the material needed to get to this universe, but maybe he was running out. I still have a boat load of questions but we’ll find out soon!
Whoever voiced Amy and tails, they need to be the voice actors for all shows, movies, and TV shows. They are so fitting!

There's so many cute little details in this. Amy's tail wagging when Sonic opens the door again, Amy's constant overblowing of the situation going from regular talk to blushing etc. It's the small details

The VA for Amy here's honestly better than the one we've had since the 2010s. So lively and bubbly! Plus it helps that she retains that core characteristic of being a Sonic fangirl. 👍

Tails always seems the most interesting and funny when he’s not the perfectly innocent kid that he is in the cartoons. Whether he’s addicted to drugs (Sonic and Knuckles Show), is going through an existential crisis (The Sonic and Shadow Show), or is absolutely psychotic, it never ceases to put a smile on my face.

The way Tails acts from 6:01 to 7:00, it’s like Tails wanted to do this surgery to Amy for a long time, but waited for the right time to do it. Tails must have knew that the tips he gave to Amy wouldn’t work on Sonic, so that when Amy is desperate enough, Tails would then give her the choice of the surgery, without her knowing that he wanted to do it on her.

This is so sad, in this animation I actually relate to Amy's kind an clingy personality towards Sonic, and Sonic reminds me of a fake friend who took advantage of that... I love Amy's voice so much though 😊
One thing I love about this animation is that whenever Tails says "What are friends for" the music matches with the ominous feeling. Even with the first time, you can hear at 2:40 the keys that would normally be for the audience to know that he's thinking about something evil, it is masked by the lighter sounds that doesn't even make us think twice about what he said. The attention to detail THIS DEEP is honestly terrifying.

This is awesome. I felt genuinely sad for Amy seeing her so broken, but there's still so much comedy. I love the creepy feeling I got as Tails seemed to become more and more sinister. I really enjoyed this, seriously great work!

I feel so bad for her like she ain’t even deserve all this, like literally at the beginning she showed how much she cared and put so much effort in just to not know he was the shy one.
Man, these Sonic cartoons continue to have a lot of spirit and character in them. The voice acting is fantastic. But I tell ya, Tails was freaking me out the whole way through, wonder what he is up to by doing this for Amy.

I love how tails manipulates her. He keeps giving her bad advice but making it seem like it might work out. Slowly. lowering her confidence to the point where she is so desperate she will do anything for it to work. Just really shows that tails seems psychotic in this, love how this turned out! Great job!

Honestly this might be the best portrayal of Amy I've ever seen. She's still madly in love with Sonic but we also see a very sad and sympathetic side to her too-- god this video is just so well written!!!! I am so excited for part 2!

This actually made me cry when amy said she wasn’t good enough for sonic. I’m glad this dosent show the creepy stalker side of amy, but instead how much she cares and tries to atleast get sonic attention.

amy has never been a “creepy stalker” she just got hated on through the years because that’s how overly feminine characters used to be treated. She follows sonic around just as much as tails or even knuckles does because she is a vital part of the team and wants to help in any way she can. Amy is awesome.
I actually like this Amy, she feels closer to her classic version in characterization. Her voice acting is also amazing, she sounds so cute!!!

That crystal on Tails' desk is straight up a Lego power crystal from Power Miners. It has the exact same design. A small detail most would ignore and of little importance, but I still enjoy it like a "Oh, hey. That's neat." moment.
Tails change from young and innocent to sinister is brilliant.
It wasn't that much of a change,it was more of a revelation of his true personality and intentions,but I agree it's amazing how he makes such a revelation by repeating the same phrase
