In a pre-Elden Ring world, Sony not continuing Bloodborne makes sense. But as soon as Elden Ring set the gaming world on fire, Sony should have greenlit a Bloodborne remaster, remake, or sequel. Of course, a sequel without Fromsoft would be dumb.
@melojuketv318 true, but the remaster for BB and subsequent release on PC following the release of ER would have been genius. Sony would have made so much money.

@@kidneystonecollectorr Dark Souls 2 is treated like the Red Headed step child. Bloodborne is the rebellious drop out that hits it big in an entertainment industry niche market that their parents dont understand.
I remember around 2017 sony stated that bloodborne was a niche title and did not sell that well. So sony is not going to remaster, remake or do a sequel to a game that was not a big success. I also remember when the game launched I got it day one and mostly everyone that I worked with at the time were sony fanboys and everyone had a PS4 and when I told people about bloodborne and how cool it was not a single person I worked with had any idea what bloodborne was, one co-worker even asked "is that a COD dlc?" so bloodborne proved that the vast majority of PS4 owners exclusively played COD, fortnite, FIFA, 2k and madden while they claimed "XbOx hAs nO gAmEs" when they didn't even know what games they had lol.
They know that it needs to go other places, and the fans probably won't show up again. They've waited so long now that it would cost 3-4X more than if they did a sequel back when they should've.
@@justarock9553 it's not Elden Ring and it would be exclusive... Only to flop again. You see Demon's Souls numbers? PC ponies have been asking for that since launch.
The past sales numbers are irrelevant. Soulslikes in 2024 are much bigger than soulslikes in 2015, when it was a niche genre. Everyone knows FromSoft today because of Elden Ring and Sekiro and the Dark Souls series, and so a remaster/PC launch of Bloodborne is like to exceed PS4 sales, by far. I mean even AC6 sold really well on FromSoft's name alone. Reality is, Sony was probably holding it for a PS6 launch title like DeS, and the emulator community caught up with them. They just lost hundreds of million on Concord, and probably hundreds of millions on Bloodborne, because modders are going to basically remaster the game for free. Well deserved karma for holding back one of the most beloved games of the PS4 generation out of pure greed.
Spends 200m on an abomination called Concord, Ports to PC bad games nobody asked for such as Horizon, Refuses to even remaster Bloodborne, Yeah, deserves to go bankrupt. Zero idea whatsoever about what the players want.
nah dude the sad reality is that Sony isn’t going to lose money just because people are emulating it… emulating still has a lot of problems and is inaccessible for most people. hell i bet half the people who emulate the game would buy it if it got an official pc port.

@@TheRealist1.See, about that... Sony won't even provide a free performance patch for the game to make it run better. Fans already made one that works well, but you have to have a hacked system to use it. If they want to entice people to get their new plastic box, then they need to offer better resolution and performance than their last gen plastic box which sells for way cheaper. Why get a PS5 to play Bloodborne when it runs and looks the same as when you play it on PS4?
One simple reason: now that Elden Ring has blown up in popularity, Fromsoft will never take shit from Sony again. They won't do a sony exclusive souls like title any more. Anything they make afterwards will be day one all platform.

Bloodborne has much more potential than it appears particularly on PC not on consoles. This comes down to the sales of Elden Ring not Bloodborne. If Bloodborne launched on PC all the Elden Ring fanbase would be fixed on the Bloodborne launch on PC. Alongside all the mod options from the already heavily active soulsborne modding.
Sony is just plain stupid. The PS2 is one of if not the greatest consoles of all time. I think that was the beginning of the end for them. They made decisions as if they would always be on top and nothing could knock them down.
I think it was the PS3. It had so much soul behind it, which got beat by the corporate Xbox 360. So, Sony started to pivot to be more corporate in their running of PS
Disagree, I think Sony has a similar habit to Nintendo, where if they're successful they reveal their true colors, but when they're hurting a bit they're pro consumer. With Nintendo the obvious examples are the SNES being successful, Gamecube selling poorly, Wii being successful, WiiU failing completely, Switch being successful. Each success they turn into corporate monsters, and each failure forces them to play nice. With Sony it's less obvious, but you can see it after their success with the PS2 when they had the balls to release the PS3 for the price they did, and assumed people would give them money because "Playstation". When they realized the 360 was stomping them, that's when they tried to turn things around, focusing on excellent exclusives and the like and lowering the price of future PS3 models dramatically, and by the end of the generation some reports even say that the PS3 beat out the 360. They kept the momentum going a bit with the PS4, focusing on great exclusives, but you could see the cracks. Charging for multiplayer, focusing on unneeded remasters, nothing major but even so. When the PS4 curbstomped the One, that was the final nail in the coffin, and with the PS5 they revealed their true colors, thinking that they could get away with whatever they wanted. Maybe if the Pro fails, and this generation as a whole doesn't go well, it'll set them straight, but who knows.
Because XBox just throws money at things and fails to understanding gaming. that's always been their issue. Sony has always been good at garnering studios.
Because XBox has no strategy beyond buying studios to make up for the fact they are not a gaming company or gaming centric. They inserted themselves in the market for the profit and got lucky with Halo, but it couldn't last without key people behind it. Sony understands gaming, but they saw the greed and practices of Microsoft and followed suit. Corporatization destroys anything if it goes unchecked, especially in a creative field. I liked Days Gone 2 too, but it was again, another 3rd person game using the same formula for their single-player AAA games. The fact they can sell so much with key IP is what keeps them alive, because once they cut out so many Japanese studios by censorship nor the advertising they used to. It's Western and limited to that approach, but that's all Microsoft is, too, but worse.
Sony beat Microsoft in the last two console generations because while Sony was making Bloodborne, 2 God of War games, 3 Spiderman games, the Demon's Souls remake, the Ratchet and Clank remake, Sekiro, Ghosts of Tsushima, and a half dozen other good games Microsoft was making 5 or 6 of their own different versions of Concord. The problem is that live service games are killing the industry. The fact that Sony is only now making the mistakes Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft have been making over and over again for a decade should be evidence that up until recently, Sony was doing something right. But the whole industry is suffering from the same live service rot. Sony was bound to get infected sooner or later.
Amazing how a PC port is soo financially viable, you just adjust some parameters for a engine thats already in the same architecture and add some QoL changes, and get a huge player base that was not reached, some times out numbering the original release, yet Sony choose to sink millions of dollars in new and busted IPs
It probably is not that smart to do that though. The people who have a PC are more likely hardcore gamers. Bloodborne is probably only for the more hardcore gamers. So, having it stay on Ps4 would make those hardcore gamers invest in a playstation. Why do you think Sony waits before releasing on Pc, same logic
@@SpriteYagamiProblem with your logic is the fact that Sony has done nothing to make Bloodborne on PS5 better than on PS4. Fans have made a performance patch for hacked systems and it's just out there on the internet for them to implement, but they don't care to for some reason. So you end up with the weird situation where you might as well just buy a PS4 for super cheap if you just want to play Bloodborne because there's not going to be any benefit to getting the newer, more expensive system.
@@based-ys9um PC master race beat Sony to the punch and built an entire emulator just to play Bloodborne. And it runs the game at over 60fps. So shaddup. 😏
I'm convinced there will never be a bloodborne 2. Sony owns the IP and Fromsoftware not falling for the okie doke from Sony. I don't see From wasting their time on a BB sequel when they can make a mult-plat and maximize profits. Especially when Sony won't even take the time to fix the frame for the PS5. They could care less about that game.
Something to mention is that bloodborne did not have the budget that the last of us pt 2 or spider man had , so 7 million copies is a very good number relative to that . Also a bloodborne remaster ( unlike a remake ) wouldn't cost a lot of money and as it exists in a post elden ring world , it is almost guaranteed to sell well . Now you're right that sony would prioritize a game like horizon , tlou or god of war as they sold more and appeal to a wider audience of audience, but i don't get sony complaining about not having enough original IPs then having popular ones that they do nothing with
Bloodborne is playable on an emulator from start to finish. By the time Sony releases Bloodborne on PC after some sort of miracle, the emulated version will have been fully playable even at 120fps and 4K with tons of mods (and this is happening right now. Anyone can check the status of Bloodborne on the ShadPs4 emulator).
In my opinion Sony are idiots to not had made a Remake for Bloodborne for console and PC by now while focusing on other big titles that take 8yrs. They literally see the audience that have been crying for years for this. I think it would sell more than it ever has if it’s remade now because I’m sorry a remaster isn’t enough at this point in my opinion.
You do realise FromSoft have been making other stuff. They won't stop making games, Bloodborne 2 might have meant no Sekiro or no Elden Ring. I wouldn't even stress, FromSoft are independent from Sony, they can make games very similar to Bloodborne if they wanted to cash in on it without it being Bloodborne itself.
It doesnt look dated enough for a remake. A remaster on the other hand would of been good and also released on PC which is what alot of people have been asking for.
The issue is Sony doesn't want to invest as much as they need to keep it exclusive. They can pay a support studio for a remaster or a remake, knowing the latter is more expensive. However, that isn't the same as being developed by FromSoftware. It's Sony's IP so they want to keep it exclusive to PS, which is fine, but it may not reach expected returns. It would be smart to release it on PC day & date, but they know it will take away from their PS5 hardware & software sales.
@@upon-fe2720 I didn’t say they had to make a part 2 I said it’s been long enough that it should get a remake instead of a remaster now and Miyazaki himself said he’s definitely not against not against returning to the BloodBorne franchise. Sony are the idiots that never pitch the idea because they’re so out of touch with their fanbase and don’t care. They’ve returned to their PS3 era of cockiness and it’s biting them in the ass and rightfully so.
Good video and I think you very close to the core of the Bloodborne issue. A big thing that people rarely bring up is Sony PlayStation's move to California, change in leadership and focus. This new crew, worse than the old crew, see stuff like Bloodborne as old Sony, Studio Japan related, so modern Sony wants little to do with that. This whole thing about Sony and sales has always been a mystery to me. Days Gone is sitting at around 10 million sold and they tell us that's a failure. The Last of Us Part II has sold around 10 million with easily 3 times the budget, but that is a hit game somehow. Days Gone has made Sony way more money from game sales than The Last of Us Part II. They have just taken a $200+ million loss on Concord plus what they spent buying Firewalk, they are about to lose money on Fairgame$, Marathon is not coming out for years now, if at all, Bungie is falling apart so that was a waste of $3.6 billion and who knows what they have been paying for Final Fantasy and all their other money hatting ventures. Most of this is nonsense, egos and company politics sadly. The GaaS push is a failure and a very costly one. Maybe they will find success at some point, but the cancelled The Last of Us multiplayer game was their best bet short term. I don't know if you meant to do it, but you seem to be using casual games to mean higher sales. FromSoftware's Souls games have created a whole genre with very large and growing fanbase, with the latest games selling by far the most. Elden Ring shows just how big this audience actually is, even though Elden Rings appeal is multifaceted; Open world helps, George RR Martin's name helped and the hype helped. Bloodborne is probably a complicated case. It has sold very well, something like 8 million copy or so, just from PS4 and a bit of PS5 users. Sony owns the IP, but the tech i.e. engine is 100% FromSoftware. I think you're correct in assuming that FromSoftware are too busy doing other projects to make a Bloodborne 2, but I could see them doing a slight remaster for the 10th anniversary coming up next year. Souls games easily sell the most on PC and the one Sony game port people want, including myself is Bloodborne Remastered (not a sterile remake).
@@upon-fe2720 Don't tell me what I'm thinking of. I don't hold a single old fool like Jim Ryan responsible for turning Sony PlayStation into a failure factory. They fired loyal old Jimmy into the sun in a real hurry, with corporate speak for "he lives on a farm now". Him being gone fixes nothing for SIE. Where his head was, two or three more have spawned.
From what I could find it looks like Demon's Souls on the PS3 sold just under 2 million copies and got a remake, so 7 million copies should be more than enough for something. Until Dawn only sold 4 million and is getting a remake, what the hell are Sony doing? Also a little perspective Spiderman 2 sold 10 million copies bringing in $700,000,000 and took $300,000,000 and 5 years to make. Xbox bring in $8,400,000,000 a year from gamepass
7M after deep discounts is not going to excite them... It's just salvaging at some point. No different than when I saw Outer Worlds on sale for 2.99, then they hyped 5M sales the next week. After you nearly give the game away you look at engagement... Did they buy it because it was a good deal, or did they interact with it? Sometimes sales are mostly good for marketing, they had no interest in funding a sequel so they never advertised it
Even more puzzling, thanks to elden ring, its not as if FromSoft is an unknown company any longer either. There is so much interest in this game right now. I only got into the souls series last year, quickly beat and did multiple play throughs of DS1, promptly quit DS2 after about 70 hours of raging (then came back recently to finally beat it), have only 1 play through of DS3 but plan to do a few NG+ runs in the near future, beat ER a METRIC FUCK TON OF TIMES. Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, Sekiro are all on my near future to plays, that and demon souls if it ever gets a PC release (mostly because fuck sony)
Great game but I'd argue that it didn't sell well when it needed to, sure it did sell well as cult hit down the line but Sony and any other Publisher want's those sales much sooner a year at the latest.
The thing is, Soulslike were not as popular when Bloodborne was launched, Sony need to see the success of Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring. Bloodborne is a highly requested game by both PS owners and PC players, the game can easily sell 15 million copies now days. Sony ports Sackboy and Rachet and Clank to PC, games that nobody asked for and yet they choose to ignore how bad people want to play a remaster of Bloodborne.
Demon's Souls sold less than half of Bloodborne, Untill Dawn sold 4 m yet a remaster is coming History could repeat itself and it could be a launch title for PS6 but who knows
7 mil copies sold should be enough to address or improve from the feedback with a sequel. I understand not making a sequel for less than 1mil copied sold. Otherwise, they end up burying good ip they can improve upon to end up complaining that they don't have enough of ip.
Demon's Souls sold only 1.7M but still got a (shitty) remake, so stop making up bs about sales numbers. The games that sould 20M were instantly forgotten, nobody wants or cares about them getting a sequel. People just want a BB port, which is much cheaper than a full (shitty) remake by Bluepoint.
@@salstep Bloodborne runs at 30fps on the PS4. If Demon Souls, a relatively obscure PS3 game that sold seven times less copies compared to Bloodborne, received a remake, there is no reason Bloodborne can't get one. In fact, there's a decent chance Bluepoint is already working on it.
7:30 It seems like Sony has the goal of get people to buy the console, which will keep them no matter how long the games take to release. The 3rd party games allow for the filler. Also, studios seem to be favoring ps5 development, which causes more support for Sony (Baldurs gate)
Bloodborne is the reason I bought ps4 and then a ps5, since I discovered playing on playstation is quite nice. Would love and buy a remastered bloodborne. Also liked days gone.A ps5 pro version of bloodborne would be wonderful. Like remastered demon souls and ps5, Ps5 pro is missing launch games.
As an alternative, From Software can make a “Spiritual Successor”. That is a way to get around the Sony issue . It won’t be 1 for 1 but it could get close.
Remember that Spiderman, God of war, Uncharted and Horizon were all bundled with the PS4/5 they would never sell as much as the real games like Bloodborne or GT7 or Tsushima on it's own.
Ok he’s not wrong in bringing up the sales however I am going to say some stuff to kind of counter. First bloodborne came out in 2015, early 2015 and at that time many people hadn’t upgraded to a ps4 or Xbox one they still had 360 or the ps3 and that’s just a fact because I didn’t get a ps4 till 2016, also Activision wouldn’t have made a black ops 3 port for the older gen, and by the time everyone had a ps4 or Xbox one Sony was already marketing the next game like uncharted 4 also bloodborne didn’t really get that much marketing either. Second he compared days gone sales and it not getting a sequel because it was so low, first off a lot more people had a ps4 and days gone was properly marketed but the reviews it got were mid or low for days gone, meanwhile bloodborne got critical acclaim, also thirdly and finally bloodborne was the first original ip from software made after dark souls. From software wasn’t the juggernaut it is today with Elden ring, even armored core got good sales so if bloodborne 2 gets announced I believe sales will be popular cause from software has gotten more popular now then back when they released bloodborne, and many fans don’t even want a bloodborne 2 they just want a remaster or pc port and yet sont still hasn’t done this, shit days gone had gotten one I think but not bloodborne and If we are still continuing with sales, the original demons souls was a critical hit and but it wasn’t like a commercial hit to my knowledge but it wasn’t a flop either, yet that got a remake for the ps5 and it is one of the best looking games on ps5, yet Sony doesn’t show it any love either again I do believe bloodborne 2 or a remaster would sell well people legit lost their mind when the hunter was in astrobot
@@fromrawn9303 exactly, Sony is sleeping on what could be a massive hit if they just remastered or just give it a sequel, armored core 6 is the 6th entry of a niche franchise and the prior entries all barely got to a million sales and armored core 6 was a sequel that came out 10 years prior to the 5th game. Armored core 6 is now the highest selling game in the series with 3 million and it came out last year, that is impressive, also we live in an industry where souls like games are popular so if we get get a second entry in a beloved ip like bloodborne I don’t doubt that it would sell good, from software is a juggernaut in the game industry where their name alone can sell a game
Can we assume that the top 5 selling games came with sold units of PS4? I remember seeing millions of units back in 2018 where they were selling PS4s with games like horizon and uncharted
Really great video and work. A bit of a challenge is that R&C got Rift Apart after selling less. And Days Gone got ditched also due to fall out w Director and egg on the face from bad reviews
Well your info is wrong on Days gone. Sony didnt cancel the sequel, it was reported that the developer themselves canceled the sequel, the director was just salty.
This still does not explain why Bloodborne has never gotten any type of update whatsoever. Sekiro, Dark Souls III, and Elden Ring have all gotten updates to run at 60fps on PS5 hardware, but all those games are owned by FromSoftware, and we've seen proof from modders, and emulation that there is nothing wrong with the game logic if Bloodborne runs at 60fps too, but Sony hasn't even given us that for no reason. Meanwhile a game like Days Gone which had similar success to Bloodborne got higher resolution/higher frame rate patch made in-house for PS5 AND even a native PC port... something nobody asked for; on the other hand everybody is asking for a Bloodborne port and Sony knows for a fact that people want Bloodborne yet we got nothing since the DLC for that game released. I understand why we haven't gotten a sequel, a remaster or a remake of Bloodborne, and I honestly I don't want any of those if it's not made by FromSoftware themselves, but not making a PC port and at the very least a 60fps patch for PS5 makes no sense.
I have to ask, but does the Demon Souls remake not call a lot of this into question? Sony had it remade as an exclusive, knowing that it wasn't for casuals, and I'm sure they weren't expecting Spider-man of GoW sales from it. Yet they remade it nonetheless. So, to me, that says that Sony isn't as hung up on those points as this video assumes. And while yeah, ultimately it's one game, it's still a recent release, showing Sony's current mindset, and is still one of the only exclusives for the PS5. So I think it's important to consider.
Even if bloodborne got into pc, I'll never give sony money ever again or more like I can't because psn isn't available in my country No ghost of tsushima and no helldivers for me, I'll never buy a sony game even if I have the option
I think the Elden Ring effect now changes all that data you've shown. Elden Ring has brought in so many new customers such as myself. I'd always stayed away from these games believing them too difficult. Gone back and finished every fromsoft game since beating Elden Ring.
it costs nothing to cap the game at 60fps and make the graphics better. Someone has already done it, and he does not have millions in the bank to spend on its creation... its just a free cash button Sony is afraid to talk about for literally no reason
I don't really agree with sales being the driving factor that motivates Sony's decision on this. Because, I believe that they are smart enough to know that 2024 is a very different time for souls games than 2015. Elden Ring changed the video game world in 2022 and now we are seeing massive surge in popularity of souls games. If Bloodborne 2 or a remaster comes, it will have hugely different sales figures than the original because of the near universal awareness of the quality of souls games that wasn't present in 2015.
I don’t understand so many things about this Bloodborne discussion. All the souls game were very niche at the beginning but have now become so popular and we literally have Elden Ring to show for it. While the beginning was tough now everybody wants more. Bloodborne has attracted so much mysticism Bloodborne would sell more than Elden Ring. That is why you and a lot of youtubers even talk about it, people will see bloodborne and will immediately click let alone buy. If someone wants to objectify how much Bloodborne would sell you only need to think it would sell as much as Elden Ring.
Simple, the game is good, contains no DEI elements and they cannot be added before a re-release, they did not work on it. In fact, they HATE Bloodborne being their console-buying game, free from DEI bullshit and not made by themselves.Anyway, we may have it on PC before next Halloween
The thing that sales alone ignore tho is the fact that Elden Ring sold 25 million copies, won game of the year, has the highest rated DLC of all time, and even with DS3 as well, The community and amount of new players skyrocketed and the interest in the genre has never been higher. This was not the case when bloodborne released, it was still a much more niche genre of game. Black Myth Wukong is in the same genre and also has been wildly successful, lies of P, hell even the respawn jedi game sold incredibly well. If an Elden Ring DLC can sell 5 million in a few days, bloodborne remastered or bloodborne 2 could easily exceed any expectations. I forget his name but the biggest streamer just played it in front of god knows how many people, many of which are young and probably haven’t played a souls like before but might be curious. It would be such a power play for Sony to have a bloodborne sequel or fully fleshed remaster exclusively on PS5 or whatever it would release on. Stupid dumb idiot company.
A Bloodborne remaster, PC port or even a sequel from a financial perspective I think is an absolute no-brainer. BB has reached real cult status in the target audience, From Software now has a huge reputation in mainstream gaming, there's no newly announced Soulslike from them so a BB project would be a huge HUGE deal. And considering the current narrative around Sony and PS5s exclusives line-up, even just a BB remaster would be a win. The reason why we've not gotten a BB remaster I believe are to do with BB being on old SDK that makes updating it a not insignificant technical challenge, From Software having been too busy with Elden Ring and Armored Core until recently and Bluepoint (the natural studio to handle such a project if not FS) being too busy working on their own IP for the first time. Apart from that I guess the focus on live service could have blinded Sony to the opportunity of revisiting BB.
I think that sales aren't that much of a driving factor at sony since the datasheet shows that ratchet and clank hit the 7 mil mark only recently, which was released the year after Bloodborne did, but got a sequel in 2021. I might be wrong here, maybe it got a sequel due to it being a ps veteran, but so are the souls games. Hell Demon's Souls got a remake. With them recently gaining mainstream appeal due to the success of Elden Ring, I think Bloodborne might hit numbers far beyond what they expect. What I think is really holding them back from remastering or porting it to PC or ps5 is solely due to them wanting to use it as a launch title for ps6.
Literally this. I can all but guarantee that BB will get a remake for the PS6. Sony knows that FS fanboys will buy a console just for one of their games.
The only explanation that makes sense to me is that they’re trying to keep Fromsoftware exclusives only on PS to draw in that base. Because we’re extremely dedicated. As for a remaster not happening - absolutely no idea
I would like a update that just allows 60-120 fps and then the 2nd game show the event before the hunters became what we saw in the dlc that would’ve been cool to end that universe. It should be easy enough to ask fromsoftware to update the game once more than leave it alone from there
good take on the whole thing. true, "data" and sales drives these corporate decisions but don't mean a bb remake is not possible, they did it with des. $ony knows there's a lot of interest in this ip and if they feel like wasting $400m on a game no one asked for is a bad idea and spending a faction of that on a game that guarantees sales, they might reconsider. i'm personally more interested in "chadps4" that will preserve the original more so than a remake and is looking more promising than $ony's efforts.
Looking at that sales data, it almost looks like games that play like movies instead of video games are outselling actual video games. How many copies of Final Fantasy VII sold back in 1997?
One correct I would make is that you said Bloodborne sold about 7.5mil copies on an install base of about 100mil, but the install base of the PS4 was nowhere near 100mil in 2015. Bloodborne was arguably the first big name PS4 exclusive that really drove console sales, no one even talks about earlier exclusives like Killzone Shadowfall or Infamous Second Son.
This explains the lack of a follow-up but not the lack of a PC port. They ported games that did way worse on console like Sackboy, which is also the type of game that would do (and did) even worse on Steam where Bloodborne would shine.
1:15 Tbh I find it very hard to believe that BB only had 7.46 million. I would believe more like double that. I honestly had a conspiracy theory about the lack of update for BB or remake. Sony tried to fully acquire FS but was only able to get 25% so I think BB was purposely ignored as an f you to the fans bc of the lack of acquisition. Perhaps a dumb theory but I don't believe for a second that BB would not have yielded a higher revenue take over a remake of Demons Soul's. @heyguyslolGAMING THIS! People are too dismissive about these "tactics": we've seen time and time again companies do these type of things for ESG/DEI money, why wouldn't they double, or even triple, down?
Sony is right, no one wants Bloodborne 2 (specially after Elden Ring) and i agree with it, thats why they poured 400+ million into Concord, a game no one asked for or wanted 😂
The pc emulation as well as the Graceborne mod for Elden Ring are enough to keep players still invested in the game. Media as a form of entertainment shouldn't be hard to access, in other words, if Sony doesn't want to do anything with Bloodborne, then the fans should be allowed to.
This isn't a good take, at all. You can't compare Bloodborne to Spiderman. What you have to do is look at the trajectory of Fromsoft games. Bloodborne: 7m Dark Souls III: 12m Sekiro: 10m Elden Ring: 25m There are so many more POTENTIAL Bloodborne fans and sales 10 years later, after From has released multiple titles in the same family of games that have ALL surpassed Bloodborne in sales. (Note: I'm keeping Armored Core 6 out of this because - while it shares a developer and similar elements - it is not the same type of game and lacks the mass appeal that other From series have reached). You also can't say Bloodborne had a potential install base of 100m PS4s when it was released in early 2015. The PS4 was just over a year old at the time, and the install base was less than 25m. It didn't reach that 100m+ number until 2020-2022. People are not typically going back to buy a 5-7-year old game. The problem is not that Bloodborne is too niche. The problem is that Sony is grossly mismanaging their portfolio, and if I were a shareholder I would be pretty upset after the Concord debacle.
If we look at purely the numbers, it'll never make sense to re-release and/or Globalize Bloodborne but I bet everyone has got a few damn good reasons as to why it definitely would.
If Sony knew wtf they were doing they would figure out that after Elden Ring massive success, the market for a bloodborne remake got much bigger. A multiplatform bloodborne remake would move twice as many copies as Bloodborne ps4 did if not more. But if they make it a ps6 exclusive it will be a flop because they won't have enough launch titles to incentivize people to buy the console. Most people don't buy consoles for one or two games in this economy.
Context: Why I didn't love my PS4, the PS4 I had "could not." play cyberpunk 2077. I did all side missions to as far as I could, because some missions had bugs and could not be finished. I got to the end of the main story line but didn't finish the game. In other words, love is blind because the PS4 is the worst system to play cyberpunk 2077 on. this is very informative on a game I love. Something I did not love, was my PlayStation 4. What I wanted to say was the only thing in the world that would convince me on its worth getting the PS5, would be Bloodborne. I am half way through this stellar video and it looks like that will never happen. If Bloodborne is ever on PC, I will buy it in a heart beat.
They might have thought Bloodborne was niche a while ago, but Elden Ring has completely changed the game. So many people are hooked on souls-likes because of this and would buy the game. I guarantee it would sell more now than its 2015 release.
Sony didn’t cancel Days Gone II. It was Bend’s corporate suits who denied a sequel and didn’t bring it up to PS Studios head. Days Gone director said it himself.
If Bloodborne is too niche, then I have trouble understanding why Ghost of Tsushima got a PC port since it sold 9.73 million copies before being released on PC. That figure is really close to Bloodborne's 7.5 million copies
The hype for Souls games is way bigger now after Elden Ring. But most aren't willing to buy a Playstation just for one game. There would be so many people who would buy it on PC.
Day’s Gone is getting a Remaster but it had lower sales, I think From Software games on the PlayStation will eventually come to PC (Demon Souls leaked on the NVidia GeForce now leak, GOT and GOD: Rangranok launched on Steam)
Your argument misses the point that Ratchet & Clank (2016) sold less than BloodBorne in the same time period but we got sequels for it anyway. Day's Gone got a PS5 patch but still sold less than BloodBorne without one. Also Demon's Souls Remake was greenlit with even less sales on PS3, and let's not forget the Concord disaster which automatically destroys Sony's decision making potential. Past sales in this case would mean nothing, specially if they release it on PC as well.

Well, they kept it exclusive. That's their fault.
They know that it needs to go other places, and the fans probably won't show up again. They've waited so long now that it would cost 3-4X more than if they did a sequel back when they should've.

I thing ps3 was great too
@@SpriteYagamitbf from what I’ve read, the PS3 actually sold more than the 360 in the end, so Xbox didn’t really beat them.
@@SpriteYagamiSony was always corporate. You're just naive.

Bottom-line Sony is fucking stupid. Killing Days Gone 2 was also a mistake. How they managed to beat XBOX is beyond me
Because XBox just throws money at things and fails to understanding gaming. that's always been their issue. Sony has always been good at garnering studios.
Because Micro-fucking-soft is more stupid, it’s that simple.
@@nicekix3038 It wasn't a defense of XBOX. Im saying they've made bad decision after bad decision so much so its amazing they beat anyone. Even XBOX

I could see FromSoft buying the Bloodborne IP from Sony in a distant future
Anyone can check the status of Bloodborne on the ShadPs4 emulator).
Bloodborne on PC would be the most hacked & modded game out there!😊
In my opinion Sony are idiots to not had made a Remake for Bloodborne for console and PC by now while focusing on other big titles that take 8yrs.
A remake? No one wants a remake, but a remaster by From Software.

7:30 It seems like Sony has the goal of get people to buy the console, which will keep them no matter how long the games take to release. The 3rd party games allow for the filler. Also, studios seem to be favoring ps5 development, which causes more support for Sony (Baldurs gate)
It’s more about Sony wanting to risk it. Miyazaki has expressed multiple times that his favourite game is Bloodborne and wouldn’t mind a sequel
Nobody cares what myazakis favorite game is. I want new games, not the same 10 year old crap
@@joker345172tough shit, bloodborne on top
Bloodborne is the reason I bought ps4 and then a ps5, since I discovered playing on playstation is quite nice. Would love and buy a remastered bloodborne. Also liked days gone.A ps5 pro version of bloodborne would be wonderful. Like remastered demon souls and ps5, Ps5 pro is missing launch games.
As an alternative, From Software can make a “Spiritual Successor”. That is a way to get around the Sony issue . It won’t be 1 for 1 but it could get close.
But you forgot something , days gone sold fewer copies than Bloodborn and it was released on PC 🤷🏻♂️
Sony first party studio...maybe?
Nahhh 150m on concord was the play... The modern audience doesn't want bloodborne... we want dustborn and concord
Clearly underestimating the sheer size of from soft fans
@cooperclark6885 the fanbase for concord was way higher... but the haters spread lies about ugly characters and got it canceled
Some Dev said that it was more like 400m without the acquisition cost
Concord make sony gain a 1000M Concordollars
@@Fidel_casserole97 omg I actually found the first person ever trying to defend those pieces of shit 😂
They ignore it because it is an actual game and doesn't take 15 minutes away from you to play itself
Correct, Sony are also on record saying that 2mil sales surpassed their expectations.
Even if bloodborne got into pc, I'll never give sony money ever again or more like I can't because psn isn't available in my country
No ghost of tsushima and no helldivers for me, I'll never buy a sony game even if I have the option
Your loss.
@@based-ys9um sure, my loss, since I can't legally purchase it in the first place, yes my loss
Move to another country?
I think the Elden Ring effect now changes all that data you've shown. Elden Ring has brought in so many new customers such as myself. I'd always stayed away from these games believing them too difficult. Gone back and finished every fromsoft
game since beating Elden Ring.
"I never supported from software till grrm was involved and it's open world" you 😂
So why did demon souls get a remake?
it costs nothing to cap the game at 60fps and make the graphics better. Someone has already done it, and he does not have millions in the bank to spend on its creation... its just a free cash button Sony is afraid to talk about for literally no reason
Man what did you smoke?
Go outside.
If we get #old yarnham hunters are non-binary trending, maybe they'll give us the pc port 😂
Touch grass.
@@avidfather1864 after you
@@chaolihai-innit he said nothing wrong
Bloodborne remasterd is so highly wanted its unreal it would do crazy numbers all they want is steady 60fps and updated graphics
That's okay. The community is doing it ourselves.
They are not hiding, they are keeping it for a remake/remaster for PS6 launch
The more people ask for it, the less it’s going to happen
This explains the lack of a follow-up but not the lack of a PC port. They ported games that did way worse on console like Sackboy, which is also the type of game that would do (and did) even worse on Steam where Bloodborne would shine.
By your logic, there wouldn't be trillion ratchet and clank games + a remaster + modern release.
Tbh I don't want a remake just a 60 fps update but screw Sony, ShadPS4 is nearly done.
Bloodborne also doesn't fit into the woke agenda being pushed in all these other titles including the sequel to GoW w/ that Sweet Baby Inc crap.
@heyguyslolGAMING THIS! People are too dismissive about these "tactics": we've seen time and time again companies do these type of things for ESG/DEI money, why wouldn't they double, or even triple, down?
Sony is right, no one wants Bloodborne 2 (specially after Elden Ring) and i agree with it, thats why they poured 400+ million into Concord, a game no one asked for or wanted 😂
they have no trouble remaking last of us many times.
Bloodborne: 7m
Dark Souls III: 12m
Sekiro: 10m
Elden Ring: 25m
There are so many more POTENTIAL Bloodborne fans and sales 10 years later, after From has released multiple titles in the same family of games that have ALL surpassed Bloodborne in sales.
The problem is that Sony is grossly mismanaging their portfolio, and if I were a shareholder I would be pretty upset after the Concord debacle.
guess what, looks like days gone might get a remaster too 💀
because there is a movie coming
but at the same time the popularity of souls like games has risen since elden ring which made the whole series blow up even more
If we look at purely the numbers, it'll never make sense to re-release and/or Globalize Bloodborne
but I bet everyone has got a few damn good reasons as to why it definitely would.
Got damn that Spider-Man looks good on your tv! What’s your set up?
Honestly, I think its just the remastered version. They tuned the lighting so well, it's insane.
They need to remake Bloodborne! Elden Ring got tons of new people into the souls genre & I'm sure a new Bloodborne would sell like crazy
Can’t believe I still have my copy of BB from 2015
Sony didn’t cancel Days Gone II.
I hope we can get numbers on the bloodborne pc downloads so don’t can see what they missed out on
The hype for Souls games is way bigger now after Elden Ring. But most aren't willing to buy a Playstation just for one game. There would be so many people who would buy it on PC.
I just need them to never remaster or make a sequel for it to keep the meme for every games conference alive. Its just way too funny to let die
A PC port or remaster on Steam would easily sell another 5+ M copies without much effort or investment.
Sony Japan needs to get PlayStation headquarters the fuck out of California.
Day’s Gone is getting a Remaster but it had lower sales, I think From Software games on the PlayStation will eventually come to PC (Demon Souls leaked on the NVidia GeForce now leak, GOT and GOD: Rangranok launched on Steam)
REALLY enjoyed listening to you buddy. Keep it up & goodluck with the channel
When you distill it down, PlayStation wouldn’t do it without it being exclusive.
Fromsoftware needs it to be exclusive for the benefit of their brand.
