Turns out 2.2 canyon trails work better on straight axles than portals. No pumpkin dragging but takes more planning and strategy make steep climbs. Everything else is swallowed up.
I just finished cutting and sipping a set for my new 72 blazer. This truck has all the extras, roof rack, light kit and winch it is pretty heavy. Once they’ve been cut it’s hard to beat.
You said the word at the end that I thought from the very beginning "gorgeous" My eyes were glued to my TV till the end...I don't think that I even blinked. As good on the eyes as on the rocks. So capable. You Mr. CC man should be very proud of what you created. Then the Canyon fav just fell out of the sky in 2.2...with good foams..a perfect match. Standing ovation!!
Wholly cow just when we think you can't surprise us anymore you pull a Wylie Coyote Super Genius! The builds just get better and better, thanks as always.
My wife and I enjoy watching your show for about a year now. So I have 4 sets new Canyon Trails off k10 High Trails. You know they are 2.2 and glued to the plastic wheels. If you can use them I’ll send ‘em. Happy crawling 🙂
That's a lotta 2.2s. I could use two sets though, no problem-- I still haven't nailed down whether or not the High Trails come with S1s or "RTR compound." Either way, we've got a use for 'em. Send me an email to crawler canyon at gmail dot com.
The one we do not talk about is incredible capable and these tyres/insert combo highlights that even more! Man, who wouldn't want that rig on his shelf 😊😎
I've never seen an OE dual stage before. Pitbull used to give us dual stages in the Growlers, but we're certainly not used to seeing duals from "the big three." And these are actually good.
@@CrawlerCanyon they definitely seemed to bite with the best of them. I was very pleasantly surprised with their performance. Definitely going to keep them in mind the next time I’m in the market for some 2.2’s.
I think it was a great choice to have three wheels pre-mounted! Once we’ve seen one, we get the idea of what mounting is like. Love the awesome content, thank you for uploading.
Ya know, the canyon has inspired me to finish building and continue building. I'm working on a deal for a 10.2 that has been highly upgraded but needs a few things, just finished my 10 pro this morning and man I love that truck already, mainly because it's got stock axial nitro trail grapplers on it and I love those tires as much as the rc4wd super swampers, thank you canyon for inspiring me to return to the hobby and start over again
I bought a set of 2.2 Canyon Trail from Jenny’s off of one of the 6 Wheel Dr. That has a 2.2 rim but it stayed at 475 tall. Which was kind of shocking to me. But I love the tires, they are a little different. They have factory sipes. I think they were off the Mercedes six Wheel Dr.
5.3 and portal axle clearance. Try standing rear shocks up 2 holes, under load squatting losing all effectiveness ( with the high rear link mount at frame should be static to raising at load). Dont think it is under sprung just yet, just mounting degree from vertical too much.
I'd love to, but I really only have three rigs that run 'em. I do need to try yet another 2.2 Canyon Trail, the ones that come on the 6x6 (which I think are actually called Terrain) are almost completely different. Robokitty does need 2.2 Tusks... but oof, that price.
Take into consideration the longer wheelbase makes the front tires reach and grab good ground, that the 1.9 and 31.3cm wheelbase would not. Not saying the tires aren't great, but the longer wheelbase certainly helps reaching the needed grip 😊
I'm going to be building up a rig in the near future. I'm still in the hunter-gatherer faze for a few more electronics tires/wheels and whatnot. I've been debating 1.9 or 2.2, but after seeing this, I'm sold.
I do recommend at least a longer WB to make full use of the big tires. Things can get real tippy with 5.3s on a 313mm WB. Also, this guy might make it look too easy with 25% rear UD-- even with big grips he still turns REAL tight.
Man the thing we can’t talk about sure looks impressive especially on those 2.2 canyons, the fact they actually come with a ‘proper’ insert is amazing too 👌🏻 Ran my S1 1.9 modded canyons at the weekend with 3D printed inserts and I was blown away at how good they are! In the interests of covering every canyon trail, have you ever tested the 2.2 Canyon RT? These come on the 6x6 and I’ve always been intrigued by them as the are a 2.2 fitment but same overall diameter as a 1.9 canyon trail. Would love to see these on the channel 👍🏻
I love the look!!! But I am all about being offensive to so-called normal people. Great work Mr Canyon. Im also very intrigued by the 2.2 foams and would love them for my 1.9” tires
I feel like the master of the canyon could sift through the many bins of foams and build some similar dual stage inserts using the sofa cushions for inners with some otherwise useless tooosofts. Would it be better than a double bun…not likely, but maybe a new custom foam business venture. Or just start making pillows…
@@CrawlerCanyon One of my favorite hobbies is to give people from outside the Nordics, and the Netherlands (cause they like it too), super salty, black liquorice.
