    On point there, gents, about the scouting step changes. Great, objective analysis.

      That’s what we’re trying to do as much as possible! Keep it as objective as possible and focus on how to become better competitive players :)

    interesting i've always considered the 3 groups as
    "Not very dangerous"
    "Leaders and buffs"
    "AP/Blast/Movment Agnostic(fly)"

      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад

      Another good way to look at it! Movement agnostic is a great term! Will steal that in future 😅
      Always trying to find better ways to describe stuff and that’s a great one

    I find deployment to be one of the most stressful parts of the game. My last game I didn't quite get it right and Warpcoven got a flux blast that took out 1 key operative and injured another. It put me treally far behind and caused me to take risks to try and come back - which I didn't, it made it worse actually lol.
    Great tips.

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад

      Yeah this is the issue when you take a big hit early, you can then be struggling to regain & recalibrate after the event.
      Hopefully the tips help!

    Thanks for all the great content guys. Maybe you can go in to some teams specifically? A deep dive with some guests who have expertise on certain teams.

      We’re definitely hoping to do this soon! We just wanted to finish off the matched play sequence then we can head into that! :)
      So just an episode on scouting & an episode on TP1 then we’re in
      We also want to do an episode on post match analysis

    I’ve been playing the same Legionary team since they were released. Everyone else in our community has played several different teams. But they have all faced off with my Legionaries. They know my team so well most of them often remind me when i forget to do something, like roll my FNPs on my Anointed or reduce taken damage due to mutagenic flesh. But I also know what operatives I have that they are terrified of like the anointed or Balefire acolyte. So I like to deploy those operatives first to influence their deployment. I know that wherever my anointed goes their melta or plasma equivalent is going that way to deal with the threat. Which usually allows me to place the rest of my team where I see the best opportunity to score VP.
    I know it’s only a local meta thing, but it’s fun playing the mind games.

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад +1

      That’s a great way of reverse threat matching! Trying to force your opponent to play in a certain way that’s advantageous to you is a great plan!

    Thanks for this, I’ll now be a little more clued up when splitting my team into groups and I might actually make some decent dashes with ‘SHHHH!’ for once 😅

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад +1

      Kommandos are an interesting one as “SSSSHHHH!” is once per game, holding that ploy for the start of TP2 can change up a lot of threat ranges and give you some real options. Something for me to cover in a deep dive!

  • @Rowdy_elf

    Great content guys! On deployment, do you think alpha strikes, like a forward deployed boss nob w/ dynamite, are viable for tournaments or too easily telegraphed by a good player?

    • @joshuwaaagh
      @joshuwaaagh Год назад +1

      Yeah also intrigued to hear some thoughts on this! It seems high risk-high reward. I can imagine it would be better against high model-count teams and that ‘Just A Scratch’ could offset some risk. But still seems like a lot of investment.

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад +2

      Great question! I might add this to a question for the audience to give you a full answer. But, quick answer: the threat of it is still viable, and it can be used to make some area denial vs your opponent. But any good player will know it’s there, so I think using it as an area denial method is far more valuable than alpha strike, because it’s high risk to go for the Alpha strike and if it doesn’t work it could throw your game. (Standard caveats apply that if you could hit loads of people then it makes sense to risk it etc)

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад +1

      @@joshuwaaagh exactly that, it’s a high risk investment and vs good players there’s ways to shut it down and deny the problem

    Main thing is GW should playtest the teams, which they obviously dont.

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад

      I’d love to learn more about the playtesting & construction process, because lots of these thing have massive lead times. GW has been pretty good with the Balance Dataslates, if they could get that out with a team on initial release that’d be awesome
