Introduction
Badger Caravans introduces two innovative models, the Badger Lite and Badger Extreme, designed to meet the diverse needs of travelers. The Lite model measures 4800mm in length, 1700mm in width, and 1950mm in height, weighing 560kg with a GVM of 750kg. It features an aluminium chassis, 6-blade leaf spring suspension, and durable fibreglass construction, priced at R399,000.
The Extreme model is larger and more robust, with dimensions of 5130mm by 1700mm by 2100mm, a tare weight of 1240kg, and a GVM of 1750kg. It includes a hot-dip galvanized chassis, Burquip independent suspension, and 16-inch rims, priced at R499,000.
Background
The Badger Caravans team has over 12 years of experience in ocean-going power catamaran construction, which they leveraged to create compact, fibreglass caravans. Their expertise in using composite materials and marine-grade resins and gelcoats resulted in the innovative Badger caravan, designed to maximize usable space.
Layout
Nose Cone: Houses the geyser, 12v pump, storage for small items, and optional aircon.
Hanging Cupboard: Provides space for hanging clothes.
Storage Cupboards: Fifteen storage spaces are thoughtfully integrated throughout the caravan.
Shelf: Strategically placed shelves for easy access to small items.
Fold-down Table: Doubles as a TV housing, stowable for desk use.
Padded Headboard: Comfortably supports sitting upright in the king-size bed.
Day Bed/Night Bed: Flexible bedding design that maximizes space and comfort.
Under Bed Storage: Stores tent poles conveniently inside the van.
Entrance Step: Double step provided, with an optional Thule 12v step.
Outside Kitchen
Located midway along the van, the outside kitchen includes a pull-out drawer, fridge, 2-plate gas stove, ample storage for kitchen appliances and utensils, and a fold-down table with a 220v plug.
Shower and Bathroom
The Extreme model features a 12v fold-down shower over the spare wheel, accessible from inside and outside the van. It includes a basin, porta potti, and an LED light for convenience.
Vanity
A functional vanity with a mirror, lighting, and a 220v outlet, ideal for personal grooming and as a first aid station.
Aircon
The McLaren under-bench unit provides air conditioning and heating, easily controlled manually or by remote.
Solar Panel
The van supports up to 440w of solar power, with the ability to reposition the panel for optimal sunlight exposure.
Exhibition at the Outdoor-X Show
Badger Caravans will showcase both models at the Outdoor-X show from 31 May to 2 June 2024 at stand G8. Visitors can explore the features firsthand and learn how these caravans enhance travel experiences with their compact, luxurious design.
