Your twists came out so pretty 😍
I bigchopped a few years back and I remember having a hard time with my hair back then coz I would buy all these products and it would not come out the way I wanted it to, the way it looked on influencers. Then I learned about hair types and realised that my hair was never going to look like that unless I permed or texturised it. So I started again on my journey. I did not chop my hair off, just started learning it from scratch. What it is in its truest natural state. What it loves, how best to style it, the products and ingredients it responds to. Also stopped following pple who had diff texture to mine and started following 4C content. I saw that my hair could look great if only I accepted it as is. I love my hair now. I have learned so much and continue to till now. I wear my crown with pride.
I just think it is very sad how we not only get backlash from other races but from our own pple too. We should wear our hair in its natural form, without being told our style is incomplete or unprofessional. How can someone hate what comes out of their own scalp?

      Thank you so much! 🥹
I can completely relate to your journey - it’s WILD how we go through so much trial and error just to understand what our hair truly needs - it's taken me two big chops AND over a decade to figure out my own hair 🫠 That feeling of seeing influencers and wondering why our hair doesn’t look like theirs can be so disheartening - I constantly struggle with trying to make my hair fit into these molds that were never meant for it. Learning to embrace our hair as it is in its purest form - without trying to change it - is SO powerful. It's like learning to love a part of ourselves that we were never taught to love fully 🥺🖤
I completely agree with you on this - it’s not just the external backlash we face, but the criticism from within our own community that can be so painful. It’s like we’re told our hair isn’t good enough unless it fits a certain ‘look’ or standard, but the beauty of it (that I hope everyone internalizes and operates from this place) is that our natural hair IS the standard - whatever that looks like for each individual. Our hair is beautiful as is. It’s so empowering to hear you say you wear your crown with pride. The more we show up for ourselves and each other like this, the more we challenge those outdated beliefs. Here’s to continuing to embrace and love our natural crowns! 💪🏾👑

@@FashionWizardry Yes!!! Let's represent. For ourselves and the ones afraid to. Our hair is beautiful, in all its glory. The only way we can fight the "backwardness" and colonisation of the mind is if we show up unapologetically black and proud, with every coil and curl. Our hair defies gravity. If that isn't black girl magic, I don't know what is.

I love your most recent videos. They're so honest and I really appreciate how you exemplify how to be more kind to yourself, even with that annoying little voice saying "but what if..."

Aw, thank you so much! 🥹 It really means a lot to hear that. That little ‘but what if…’ voice can be so persistent, right?! I’m really trying to work on being kinder to myself, even when that voice creeps in (which is all the time sadly). It’s a journey, but I’m learning it’s okay to give myself some grace, and I’m so glad that resonates with you too 💛
We’re all in this together - figuring it out one step at a time. Thank you for being here and for seeing me. I see you too. Sending so much love your way!🖤

You look so beautiful hair, skin and make-up all on point. What you're saying is all correct. Lately, I've noticed some people complaining about how long it takes to do their hair etc etc. Looking after your own hair isn't hard to give it what needs. Also we don't need to do these crazy DIYs, my wash day is 2 hrs washing, treating and drying. We just need to keep it simple.

Finding an individual routine that works is a true game changer - it sounds like you’ve definitely found what works for you 💓
I think it takes time to learn how to do one’s hair, especially if that information hasn’t been made readily available growing up or in one’s day to day life and we need to try be compassionate and understanding to those who are still navigating their hair journey - whatever that looks like. The people complaining are struggling and it’s really hard to be in a position where one’s hair is a source of frustration (I’ve been there and all I can do is look back lovingly on my younger self and send love) so I think being loving and trying to impart the knowledge we have is very helpful and one can pick and choose what serves them and leave what doesn’t. Everyone’s hair is so different and needs different things and figuring that out might take time but I have faith that with lots of patience and love, we can all get to the place where we know what our hair needs from us to thrive 💕

@@FashionWizardrySome of the people complaining are influencers and they are trying to keep people in a certain mindset that curly hair is difficult probably for the next "wonder" product. Take time with your hair, treat it gently never let it dry out and it will transform. Clarifying shampoo (every once in a while), deep conditioner and whipped Shea butter have really made a difference. Most important finding out my hair porosity helped me to tailor what products I should use.

I really appreciate you sharing your insights and what’s worked for you - it's always so valuable to hear different routines that have made a big difference 🫶🏾 I think we’re all on different journeys with our hair, and it’s so great when we finally find what works, like you have!💗
At the same time, I think it’s important to remember that everyone’s experience is so different though, and for some, it might take more time and experimentation to get there. There’s definitely a lot of mixed messaging in the influencer space, but I also believe many people are genuinely trying to navigate their own hair struggles in real time, sharing the ups and downs along the way. The beauty of this community is that we can all learn from each other - whether we’ve got it all figured out or we’re still figuring it out. 💛

      What is wrong with us?😂
Anyway, I’m glad I’m not alone in this but I think we can maybe work towards changing that narrative and learn to accept our hair as it is? What do you think? It’s easier said than done but at least we can *try* 😅🖤

This is so relatable! I would keep my natural hair in braids & twists beacuse I didn't have the time I needed to care for it loose. I decided to loc my hair & it was the best decision ever. My hair loves it & im even more in love with my hair now than when it was loose. Its definitely a journey & a process. I am proud of you for stepping out your comfort zone and embracing your natural curls because they are absolutely beautiful! Genuine 4C hair doesn't get enough praise & really should beacuse there is no other texture like it. 4C gang ❤😂🫶🏿

Natural hair really is something special, and it deserves all the praise. Here's to embracing our unique textures and feeling proud every step of the way 🖤

Thank you so much for watching and for your support!💕 It really means a lot to me that you connected with my journey, even though our experiences may be different. I think at the heart of it, we all just want to feel comfortable and confident in our own skin, right? That last message is so important-whatever we do, it should be for us, not anyone else’s expectations. Sending you lots of love!🫶🏾

Yes! I share the same feelings as you. ❤ started to feel like none of my pictures actually looked like ME (the real me)! SMH I've recently given away all of my lace wigs and have switched to more natural looking styles as well. Baby steps.

I love your braid-out and great video! You look more beautiful without wigs. I've seen black women wearing wigs and it looks odd because it's obvious. There's a certain glow that emanates from you, while speaking positive in your beauty. Plus, those wigs were made for the stage or movies, not to cover your head in synthetic chemicals, disallowing the scalp/hair to breath freely. Thanks for sharing your truth & love!

Thank you so much for the kind words about my braid-out and the video - I'm glad you enjoyed it 🫶🏽
While I appreciate your perspective, I believe everyone should feel free to express themselves however they choose - whether that’s through wigs, natural hair, or anything else. It’s all about what makes someone feel confident and beautiful 💕
