@evolutionspace_us put their rocket Gold Chain Cowboy well past the Karman line and into space on April 22, 2023. Fortunately for me, I was asked to be their dedicated camera guy and video producer!
This S Motor Impulse rocket is 10 inches in diameter and weighs over 900 pounds. It accelerated to a maximum velocity of Mach 5.2 ( Around 4,000 miles per hour) in just a matter of seconds and continued onto an altitude of 124.5 kilometers (408,456 feet).
This Hypersonic rocket is Evolution Space's first rocket to reach space.

Where are the on-board photos?
Do they have onboard footage?
WOW! I'm just getting back into hobby rocketry, I would like to get my little niece and nephew interested. This was seriously impressive. We officially live in the age of privatized space flight, I know StarLink and all that, but seriously, this is exciting! Also, I just heard you mention The Honest John? I made the Estes mini version 8 years back, just found it again, needs some repair, but I want to chuck that spaceward again! I'm really looking forward to seeing your rocket and subsequent launch! Cheers man!
Send It! I'm trying to get the nieces into it too!
@DSIVXX That's awesome! I've always heard from older members in other hobbies that I enjoy that it is the younger generation(s) that will keep our hobbies/pastimes alive and well into the future. I believe in the importance of teaching this next generation(s) that there is so much more out there than just "mindless" and toxic multi-media consumption. That there is a better way forward and that they are so much more rewarding, fun, and satisfying. As I heard the other day: "Why continue to DREAM ABOUT IT, when you can BE ABOUT IT!"
These giant group collabs produce some fantastic rockets! I however am more of a DIY kind of guy. I won't achieve the same results but I will still feel the same measure of success!
“Slowing down to Mach 4” - (after hitting 5.2). It survived hypersonic speed plus how many gs? Pretty impressive construction with amateur rocketry.
It would be, but it's not an amateur rocket 😉
@@RocketVlogs I haven’t done rocketry since the 70’s. If you would be so kind as to explain what level this rocket is. I’ve been subscribed and watching your channel for a little while now and have been amazed at what model rocketry can achieve with the high power categories. I can watch the meets and launches for hours and it makes me want to get back into it. However, where I like, there isn’t a rocket club within a many hours drive. Or, unfortunately, an area I can launch low power rockets within guidelines. Loving your channel.
@@BradenCarlsonAutos my mistake. Thanks.
These guys are pros
I had the privilege of launching a Loki-Dart which I believe is a very fast burning O class booster and upper second stage "Dart" which just coaster.
Were they using Kate for tracking, etc. and was Vern there?
tHANKS FOR SHARING THIS EXPERIENCE
What an amazing experience. That was incredible. Where was that launch? There were permanent structures there. Is a dedicated launch site for “amateur” launches?
It's FAR in the Mojave Desert!
Also host to Mythbusters tests, commercials, and lots of public launches!
@@RocketVlogs Ah ok. It did look familiar. Mythbusters yes. Loved that show. 🤣🤣🤣
Any rocket specs, like weight, thrust force, TWR, apogee ???? Thanks
8:40 125 km apogee 😊
Bloody Nora that plain old departed 🚀
Wow 😮 thats a bad ass rocket!
Fortunate is an understatement. Great job! Keep it coming.
Man, that was impressive!! I did'nt catch to see or hear, anyone know what size motor that had?
S
@RocketVlogs >>> 👍👍
👏👏👏👏!
Very cool. 🚀 🌳
Neato
Lowering a nosecone and payload assembly with a chain fall.....onto a plastic table. Dramatic Effect.....
I've had an entire disassembled engine sitting on one of those tables before lol
Also a little presumptuous to assume the chain didn't continue to support it while it was on the table, but go off lol
So why no on board footage?
What were those dudes holding at 6:46 ?
Receiver.
Shows a rocket taking off nothing more
The two worst states in the country
name checks out
CIA AND NSA AND FBI MOST BE WATCHIGN YOU ALL LIKE A HAWK ..
Nice work on the video!
Thank you!
Great flight and great video! Was the motor ignition commanded by Kate?
Super cool
Looks like a cross between a Black Brant II and a WAC Corporal. Interesting.
And yet, the Wall Street Journal keeps telling me that the United States doesn't have hypersonic technology.
Outstanding. We have this in our future.....
was this at FAR?
Yep!
Did I hear Kate say Mach 5.4?
5.2!
Ah from the echo it sounded like she said 5.4 but I heard it again and yeah she said 2.
