Have you ever built a house on concrete piles that stick out of the ground the same way timber piles would? I crawled under my house recently and noticed all the piles are square concrete about 600m up from the ground hence the question. House is 1970s built.
Yeah These are pretty common, see this article for more info :) Piles were typically pre-cast concrete. Timber piles became more common with the introduction of NZS 3604 in 1978 and the availability of H5 treated radiata pine suitable for in-ground use. www.renovate.org.nz/1970s/foundations-and-subfloors/foundations-original-details/piles/
Timber piles to support the concrete yeah sounds good till you need to replace the wood piles please explain else it sounds like a load of BS to me. esp if re-piling wood piles is common in NZ
Wonderfully informative, thank you!!
Do the pile drivers carry out "test piles" with an engineer on site to confirm pole length before continuing the piling?
top video, thank you
Thoughts on gravel rafts?
Geotek?
