It's not a small city, Ankang is a major city in shaanxi with urban population over 1 million. urban area of the city is highly urbanised. similar to japan, you won't see any high-rise buildings if you travel to rural china.

I once lived in the Nagasaki metropolitan area with a population of 800,000, and there are very few buildings over 10 stories high. The streetscape of Ankang is like that of central Tokyo. Even in the suburbs of Tokyo, there are not many high-rise apartments.
@@user-Drhjiyvyvbii take it as the government encouraged this via policy. if you see similar videos, only in fringe area/oldtown/rural youll find many landed house/low rise. my home city is 2.6m people but look very backward compared to the city in the video. 😂 for japan from outsider view, not many high rise because of earthquake mitigation?
@@nogosari3596 One of the reasons why Japan has few high-rise buildings is earthquakes. Japan has strict earthquake resistance standards. I believe that construction costs probably go up when trying to comply with the strict standards.

日本应该是因为地壳活动频繁，地震较多才较少的建造高层建筑，视频中的安康是陕西最南部的地级市，位于秦岭山脉以南，二十年前还是非常落后的一个城市，随着贯穿秦岭山脉的铁路以及高速公路隧道等基础设施建设完成后，最近十几年这里发展的非常迅速，预计明年年底高速铁路也将开通，这二十年，中国政府在改善西部人们落后生活条件上不遗余力的投入资金，现在的西部真的和从前有了天壤之别！
