one of the most gifted brothers to ever touch a mic - NO DOUBT
Literally just checked if you posted today and then you dropped this one. Produced by J Dilla from our city of Detroit. One of the greatest producers of all time.
Shout out j Dilla I remember on satellite radio hip hop station would have Dilla day all day long j Dilla beats from all different types of musicians was sick
I miss Dilla so damn much
@@khdanielywe reached the age where life stop's giving us things and starts taking them away. Mark Twain r.i.p j Dilla a true fuckin legend
Dilla the greatest 👍🏾
The greatest of all time. I live near L.A and take flowers to his grave every year.
Like Nas after him, Common wrote a song about what happened to the rap game “I use to love H.E.R”
Son! Yes.
I use to love hearing every rhyme🎼💿🎤🎧😤😤😤
Indeed, "Used to love her" was straight fire, but that song also sparked some beef btw Common, Ice Cube & Mack-10✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
A GREAT song..no doubt
This was when Common was seriously dating Erykah Badu and he penned this love song to her. This song was so dope that I wrote the lyrics down and sent it to a woman I really cared about and she though it was mine until she heard it on the radio.... lol
Great album by Common "Like Water For Chocolate"
Which is an awesome book
she use to go with common... she got kids with Andre 3000, D.O.C. and Jay Electronica... I thought she had one with Common but that was my mistake... but she was with him for a while, he even moved to Brooklyn while he was with her, she was living in BK too
common is such a legend, one of the most beautiful souls in hip hop
This ain't just hiphop - it's pure poetry.
Fun Fact: Toward the end of the verse, where he says 'ticka-ta-ticka-ta-ticka-ticka-ti-ka....' he didn't have anything written down for that part of the verse, and J. Dilla (RIP) left it in the song. Bobby Caldwell "Open Your Eyes" off the 'Cat In The Hat' album.
Dropping knowledge
Where’d you hear that from?
This is facts
Facts! Just shows you how Dilla was so brilliant. It was the perfect ending.
Yes that is Badu. They had a thing goin on back then.
…Erykah Badu is so beautiful. The eyes, Chico…
The song is a love letter for her
she was also going through hell too about her child and her son was 2 when this came out . She had to make money somehow at the time. this was also around the time Outkast came out with Ms. Jackson.
Common - "it's your world 1+2" I promise u will love it
Definitely one of Common's best songs. Production by J. Dilla.
One of the best love songs ever.
One my favorites period. Such a good feeling
This whole album is a classic production by J Dilla and Questlove and a banger by DJ premier!! Flawless album. Definitely recommend Nag Champa or The 6th sense
Bro it’d be dope if you react to “Selfish” by Slum Village with Kanye, and John Legend
And “Tainted Love” by Slum Village “So Far Too Go” is another fire Common produced by J. Dilla track I hope he gets around to doing.
"The Corner" by Common. Also "Watermelon" is an example of him being one of the early back to back punchline rappers
Common - Hungry
Common - Invocation
Common " I used to love her". One of my favorites songs
When this came out it was so addicting. I played it back to back a hundred times over & over. Very beautiful song. 💎💙
Check the song “They Say” by Common with Kanye and John Legend, from the album BE…that album is a low key gem in Common’s discography
That's definitely Erykah when they were kickin it. Check out I used to love her or resurrection remix. So many other classics though.
And since you at, you gotsta check:
"Erykah Badu feat. Common - Love of my life"
All time classics 🔥🔥🔥
"Heat" - Like Water for Chocolate. Underrated song, another great Dilla beat. Dilla and Common got that midwest connection
Common is a master. A poet. A sooth-sayer. ♥
You said it perfectly. Being vulnerable in music is a connection. Most cannot relate to the drug game or party lifestyles
1999 - Common & Sadat X, one of the illest beats offa Rawkus Records Soudbombing 2… so many tracks on that album
So glad to see you reacting to love of my all time favorite hip hop artist!! Common is truly a legend!! Some of his best songs in my opinion is "The People", "Black Maybe", and "I want you". Trust you won't be disappointed!
This is the most amazing timeless song he has ever done, this song is golden! Love it!
Your reactions are funny, I'm glad you enjoyed this song
One of my favorite Common songs, off my favorite album of his. The wife loves this one too! That Soulquarian funk/neo soul was an amazing era. RIP Dilla! I'd love to see you review some more music from that era.
If you’re looking for more Common “The Sixth Sense” is must
check out Common "For The People" and "I Use to Love H.E.R"
Maaaaan you released this on the right day at the right time. Shout out common for this beautiful song and that sample is so on point. Idk if you realize it man but what you doin is so important. Connecting the generations through music and art is really beautiful truly.
Be (Intro) off of his Be album is such an incredible intro to a hip hop album. So frickin good
Excellent tune produced by the late J Dilla
Before this starts I'm thinking "There's no way he's never heard this!" One of my favorites.
Great reaction. Many great tracks already recommended, but I gotta add to the list: 'Act Too (The Love of My Life)' by The Roots ft. Common - for me possibly the most beautiful hip-hop song.
Check out his LA Leakers freestyle from last month🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Also, the “Be” album prod by Kanye West.
The sample is Bobby Caldwell’s “Open Your Eyes” 💪🏾
Shit.
Put on the “retrospect for life” where he raps about abortion with Lauryn Hill on the hook.
Common don’t get enough props.
Great reaction bro...shout out to J Dilla, he did the majority of the production on this album "Like Water for Chocolate" (R.I.P. Legend)
Common got a catalog of great music...gotta do the track with him and Nas - "Ghetto Dreams" straight FIRE!!
There are so few reactions to this, the best hip hop love song, thanks
Tjis brings me back to the 90s...all of "like water for chocolate" is worth reacting to.
Common- The Game Prod. by DJ Premier. The 90's to early 00's was well rounded for hip hop. Every aspect of Hip Hop was covered Wu, Death Row, Big, Nas ,Jay Z, Outkast, Common, The Roots, Black Starr, Bad Boy to name a few. Mainstream, Back Pack, Gangsta, Abstract, underground, consciousness, whatever Hip Hop you was looking for we had all. That's why it the Golden Era!!!
J Dilla on the track...Master of Beats, Legend from Detroit. He was a producers producer. Thanks for this one!
Common "I used to love her". Song he wrote about hip hop early in his career
EARLIER COMMON: Common - Resurrection , Common - Soul by the Pound (Remix), Common - Take it Ez
Come Close by Common feat. Mary J. Blidge is another classic!
Common “I used to love H.E.R.” Is his first single... you have to do it
Used to love HER. You gotta check that one out.
One of my favorite joints of all-time brotha thank you for doing this review🙏🏾🙏🏾
Common " I used to love her" is a must
Common " Come Close"
Erykah Badu " love of my life" ft Common
There's so many gems in this song it's not even funny... "You know I ain't the type to walk around with matching shirts a relationship takes effort I will match your work".... "I never call you my b**** or even my boo there's so much in a name there's so much more in you"..... And last but not least my favorite. "I know that sex ain't going to keep you but as my equal is how I must treat you"... If you ever want to express how you feel about your lady this is one of those songs
You should check out Retrospect for Life with Lauryn Hill and G.O.D. Definitely two of Common’s most thoughtful songs.
Highly agree with this.
I'd recommend Common's "The Corner".
Common - Faithful is another beautiful song. Produced by Kanye. Try that or "Its Your World Part 1 and 2" which is produced by J Dilla. Both legendary, beautiful, soulful songs with deep meaning.
Easily one of Common's best albums🔥🔥🔥my favourite anyway
Common ~ I used to love her
Real Hip Hop is beautiful!
One of my favorite songs from Common is Nag Champa with vocals from J dilla
That's her! She has children by Andre 300, The D.O.C, & Ya Boi Jay Electronica! Super Talents in the family
And Common gets vicious on the mic too. Check out his Black Magic album. Check out his Cube diss and his Drake diss. Com is a spitter. His joint “I Used To Love H.E.R.” pissed off Cube and Mack 10, so Westside Connection dissed Common and he went back at them and he went hard. Didn’t even have to get super gangster to do it (even though he reminded them that he’s a 4 Corner Hustler). Common killed it on “Respiration” with Mos Def and Talib Kweli as well.
Peace king! Love the reactions my g! You asked for another Common song and l got 1 for you: Come close ft. Mary J. Blige 😳💪🏽💪🏽💯 Dope song and video. Hip Hop is like a raw onion ... keep peeling layers King! Passion and vulnerability= great music!! 🎶 keep it up....... check it out
EXCELLENT!!!! Commenting before watching. Can’t wait to see how you love this track. This album got me through some rough times in 2000-2001. PLEASE check out the latest freestyle he’s done!
Classic!
another dope Common track is "The People". Special bonus Jadakiss and Styles P did a freestyle on that beat.
And that sample in the song is from Bobby Caldwell - Open your eyes
The late, great legendary J. Dilla on the track.
Yes, that is definitely Ms. Badu
They were actually seeing each other at that time. You should definitely check out,
"I Used to Love Her"
So dope. 2000 was a good year for music. You could get into doing the years instead of the artist.. Common's 2005 Album was a masterpiece.... check out Go and Testify from that album....great storytelling.
Need to react to The roots feat common uni-verse the whole illadelph half-life CD is 🔥
"Nuthin to do" such a chill song
J Dilla…stand up Detroit! Yo Ahmad…everything you said was spot the hell on!
Common LA Leakers freestyle 🔥🔥
React to Common - Retrospect For Life featuring Lauryn Hill. Really, really deep song.
Used to love H.E.R. by Common.
Common I used to love her
Common and Erykah were married. React to “Come Close” and “Retrospect of Life with Lauryn Hill”. Omg. Common is a legend.
Common - Faithful
That beat is a sample from a song by
Bobby Caldwell-Open Your Eyes
For Common you have to react to "Ressurrection" "I Used to Love Her" and "The Corner"
My G the balance of Hard, Swag, Barz and beautiful music was crazy in them days... You should "Mind Sex" by DEAD PRESIDENTS it has a crazy beat and it gives you this feeling
All facts my brotha. I would love to see him react to that song.
Idk why i laughed when he said this is beautiful beautiful 😂❤
IMO it was just a time when the scales were just outweighed on negative so i see this video was a fresh start too on Hip Hop to go back to the beginning where if you notice the scratch of the record, the classic beat and the classic " sampling ' which was missing in 2000 . which this sounds like something that came out in 1990. that's what made the song hot, it was the era of the " digital Age" and everyone song and videos had that glitch sound or 80% CGI stuff . plus this video nothin is everything is natural and real which hasn't been since 1995 when everything wa fabricated after. if my thought maybe hat the "brownstone "effect in this vid hasn't been since Biggie did a video . plus I think this one Common was in could be the Downstairs house that Tupac ran in from the movie Juice which was on reno in the movie itself . that building is on 127th and St Nicholas. just a nice block especially in the summer . i really loved this video in back 2000 when everyone was making video about having parties on Spaceships. this was about not losing your past.
Common "Retrospect for Life"
You should react to Common’s track “Come Close” ft. Mary J. Blige 🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of my favorite j dilla beats of all time
Common - I used to love her
The legendary Dilla with the production 🔥
Sample from the blue-eyed soul brother Bobby Caldwell - Open Your Eyes
You gotta get Twista Chi town’s finest adrenaline rush ,kamikaze would be dope to have on the channel
To your point about why degrade women, we as a people(in general)accept and champion that. We are confused and sick and we have corporations promoting and exploiting the worst aspects of our culture
I dedicated this song to my girl 20yrs ago and we still going strong.
Can you react to digable planets
Rebirth of slick
Where I’m from
Buckle bag of funk
And yeah, that’s Erykah. Her and Common used to kick it. This song is about her.
One great track is "G.O.D" (GAINING ONES DEFINITION) FT. CEE-LO GREEN... its a classic track from his 3rd album which to me is his best album of all time... please check it out
A love like this.
React to common’s I used to love her, the people, testify, 1999, the 6th sense, celebrate, ghetto dreams & when we move (2021), you won’t be disappointed, common is Like Chicago’s Nas,, he just dope, every respected lyrical Mc knows this.
You have to react to Common - The Bitch In Yoo (Ice Cube, Mack 10 Diss)
I USED to Love Her is a must
Dropping in a suggestion... You absolutely need to peep "Beasts From The East" - Lost Boyz ft A+, Redman, and Canibus.
Canibus delivers an onslaught. It's a lyrical heatseeker of a track!!
Request.. Memphis Bleek - Is That Your Chick
J dilla's beats hit you right in your soul
Check out common the corner or the people or 6th sense or i testify all of em bangers
